Taking 49 Points Of Damage
Fight Lower Leveled Pokemon
Make sure to only make your Yamask is fighting enemies that are lower than its current level. This is to prevent your Pokemon from fainting against a single hit during a fight!
Damage Must Come From Enemies
The damage that Yamask receives must come from enemies. Lowering Yamask using other means such as the move “Curse” will not work.

Is Runerigus Useful In Pokmon Sword And Shield
Runerigus is worth it despite its complicated method of evolution. Not only does it look cool, it is also a useful Pokémon.
It can learn powerful ghost, ground and psychic type moves, so it comes in handy in the later part of the game. This includes movements such as Earthquake.
If you are playing Pokémon Sword and have trouble with the fourth, Fighting-type gym, then Runerigus can help you as it is immune to Fighting-type moves.
Runerigus can also use the Evil Eye, which will prevent wild Pokémon from fleeing. Its great for adding the most elusive Pokémon to your Pokédex.

My Galarian Yamask Isn’t Evolving
If you’re absolutely certain you’re walking under the right arch with a Galarian Yamask that has taken 49 or more damage, one other thing that can trip you up is that the Yamask has to have sustained that damage while you were its trainer. When compiling this guide, I caught my Galarian Yamask with only a few HP left and went straight to the arch, but it didn’t evolve until I healed it up and sent it out in battle with me as its trainer.
How To Use Runerigus Strengths And Weaknesses
LikeGalarian Yamask, Runerigus is a ground ghost-type Pokémon. The Grudge Pokémonis weak against water, grass, ice, ghost, and dark-type attacks.
Runerigusis, however, immune to fighting, electric, and normal-type moves, while bug, rock, and especially poison-type moves arent very effective against the Pokémon.
Runerigushas one potential ability, Wandering Spirit. When Runerigus is hit by an attackwhich sees the opposition Pokémon make direct contact, it exchanges abilitieswith the attacking Pokémon.
The groundghost-type Pokémon boasts a very high base defence stat line as well as strongattack and special defence stats. However, Runerigus base special attack, speed, and HP are rather low. So, stick to its learned attacks like Shadow Claw,Brutal Swing, Slam, and Earthquake.
Runerigus certainly isnt one of the best or strongest Pokémon in the game, but it is a decent defensive choice to have on your team.
There youhave it: your Galarian Yamask just evolved into a Runerigus. You now have afairly good defensive ground ghost-type Pokémon to use in your team.

They’ll ask for a Galar Yamask in return for a Unova one. Once you acquire Unova Yamask, you can evolve it into a Cofagrigus by leveling it up to level 38. … If you don’t, trying to breed it will result in the game just giving you constant Galar Yamasks from eggs instead, so use the one you have carefully.
Focus Sash + Pok Doll
Assuming the player already has a Galarian Yamask in their possession, what theyll need to make this process as easy as possible are a Focus Sash and a Poké Doll. Some may already see where this is going, but for others, heres how it goes:
- Take your Focus Sash and equip it to Galarian Yamask. This ensures that if its at full health, a potential one-hit KO will not occur.
- Face off against a pokémon of a much higher level. Yamask found in the wild range between levels 29 and 33, so take it to a part of the Wild Area where the pokémons levels shoot past 40. Ensure that the weather does not damage it in the case the opponent does not attack in its first turn, or the Focus Sash wont work.
- Your Yamask needs to have 49+ damage taken in one hit*, which is why the Focus Sash is so important. The HP range of a level 30 Yamask blurs between 60 and 80, so trying to gauge how much damage an opponent does without the Focus Sash becomes cumbersome. If successful and you survive with 1 HP remaining, use the Poké Doll to escape from battle.

There is a certain way to evolve the Ground-Ghost-type Pokemon, by travelling to a specific part of the Wild Area.
Here are our tips and tricks to evolving Galarian Yamask into Runerigus and how to get Unovan Yamask.
Let Yamask Take 49 Damage
Yamask in hand, you’ll have to do something sort of terrible to it to begin the evolution method into Runerigus. Take Yamask into battle, and let it take at least 49 Damage. This damage needs to be sustained in one hit – and multi-hit moves, like Bullet Seed, won’t count.
We suggest giving Yamask a Focus Sash so it can take one hit, and remain standing with 1 HP, against a Pokemon that’s much stronger than it. This can be a wild Pokemon or a Trainer battle. Also, make sure you’re not in an area that’s Hailing, and make sure to switch your Pokemon before trying to run, or use a Poke Doll to ensure your escape.
Don’t worry, you can buy more Focus Sashes from the BP Shop at the Battle Tower once you beat the game!
Pokemon Sword And Shield: How To Evolve Galarian Yamask
In order to evolve Galarian Yamask, players will need to complete one of Pokemon Sword and Shield’s most complicated evolution requirements.
Pokemon Sword and Shield are full of strange and wonderful monsters to collect, but some of them especially Galarian Yamask are more of a pain than others to train and evolve. Yamask is one of Sword and Shield’s Galar forms, which take existing Pokemon and put a new, regional spin on their designs.
The concept of regional forms was first introduced with Pokemon Sun and Moon‘s Alolan forms, based on the idea that Pokemon who had moved to the Alola region’s islands would have evolved differently than their mainland counterparts. Pokemon Sword and Shield continue this idea, expanding regional Pokemon forms beyond Generation I Pokemon. Several of the Galar forms, like Meowth and Zigzagoon, received entirely new evolutions, replacing Persian with Perrserker and adding Obstagoon after Galarian Linoone. Galarian Yamask is one of these Pokemon, and like evolving Galarian Farfetch’d into Sirfetch’d it requires some extra work to get to see its brand new evolution.
