What Does Xl Candy In Pokmon Go Do
Once your trainer level hits level 40, youll get access to XL Candy, a special huge candy that allows you to level up your Pokémon past 40. Youll only be able to increase your Pokémons CP to a certain extent using Stardust and regular candy. To increase beyond this limit, you need XL Candy.
It costs 10 XL Candy to power up your Pokémon at first, and the cost increases as you power it up more. It costs 296 XL Candy to fully power up a Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon require more XL Candy, and purified Pokémon require less XL Candy.
Just like normal candy, XL Candy is specific for each Pokémons evolution line. To level your Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu past level 40, youll need Pikachu XL Candy. Theres also Rare XL Candy, which like Rare Candy, can be used on any Pokémon.

Then, as you walk around with it, you’ll be awarded Candy. The distance you have to travel to get each Candy can range from 1 KM to 3 KM or 5 KM. It’s loosely based on 1/2 Egg hatching distance but there are some notable differences.

Using Candy For Better Stats
Candy can be used to increase all of a Pokemon‘s stats by an extra 200! These points are reflected immediately, so if you grind for candy, you could hypothetically increase a low-level Pokemon’s stats so much that it can take on a Pokemon dozens of levels its senior!
If you’re looking to increase your Pokemon‘s Speed or Special Defense, you’ll want to make sure you’re catching the right kind of Pokemon to get candy that’ll help you achieve your goal.
There are three sizes of Stats candy:
- Regular Candy – These can be given to any level Pokemon. However, the number of candy required to increase a stat changes based on a Pokemon’s level and its stat.
- L Candy – These candy are meant for Pokemon Lv. 30 or higher.
- XL Candy – These can only be given to Lv. 60 or higher Pokemon.
And there are several kinds of candy you can find in those sizes. Below is a chart of each stats candy type and which Pokemon we recommend catching to farm them. It’s best to work on getting a catch combo with Pokemon that give you a lot of Exp or yield a candy you need. Be sure to check the Pokemon: Let’s Go Catch Combo Guide for more information.

How To Get Candy For Charmander Bulbasaur & Squirtle
This leaves one remaining method of getting Candy for your starter Pokemon, hatching eggs. If you already know where to find eggs in Pokemon Go the next stage is getting Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur in one of these eggs. There are 3 different types of eggs in Pokemon Go. A 2k Egg, 5k Egg and 10k Egg. Each type of Egg can hatch different Pokemon and each Egg requires a certain amount of travel in order to hatch.
Thankfully the Eggs that contain the starter Pokemon are also the easiest to hatch. So if youre looking for Candy for Squirtle, Charmander or Bulbasaur you want to get as many 2k Eggs as you possibly can and hatch them as quickly as possible. There are other Pokemon that can come from these Eggs so youre not guaranteed to find the starter Pokemon. For more information on what you can find in every type of Egg check out our Pokemon Go egg hatching guide.
What About Transferring Pokmon To The Professor

You get one Candy of the appropriate type per transfer. So, if you transfer a Charizard, Charmeleon, and Charmander, you get one Chamander Candy for each.

How To Use Rare Candy
You dont get a second chance if you use your candies on a Pokemon that doesnt really need them, so make sure youre being strategic with which Pokemon you feed.
The best Pokemon to give Rare Candies to are:
- Pokemon that youve only seen once: these are pretty rare so youre unlikely to find lots of candies for them.
- Pokemon that have long walk times: If youve got a stubborn Pokemon, its worth using a few rare candies to boost their level. After all, the best Pokemon usually need longer walks!
- Pokemon with good IVs and movesets: Dont waste your candy on poor IV Pokemon. Make sure you use them on your best fighters.
So thats everything you need to know about Rare Candies in Pokemon Go. For all of the latest Pokemon Go news, as well as a whole host of guides, be sure to check out our dedicated Pokemon Go hub.
The Best Way To Use Your Candies
The best way to use your Candies would be to NOT use them, at least not until you reach a higher trainer level such as Level 8. Using hard-earned Candies to power up and evolve Pokémon in your earliest days of playing the game becomes moot when you find the same Pokémon with much higher CP and better chances of becoming stronger after evolving in the wild.
Since that is the case, you should accumulate as many Candies for as many evolution families as you possibly can until you start encountering at least CP 250+ Basic Pokémon in the wild. Once you reach such a point in your Pokémon journey, you can break out your hard-earned Candies, power up your strongest Pokémon to their maximum potential and then evolve them to make them even stronger.
If you do decide to wait until you start encountering extremely strong Pokémon in the wild and then start using your Candies to evolve your Pokémon , be sure to acquire and use a Lucky Egg before you go on an evolution spree to DOUBLE the amount of XP you get from all those evolutions.

Okay I Have A Buddy Now What
Go for walks! No, really, now that you have a designated Buddy you should go on strolls. Similar to egg-hatching, you can gain Candy for your buddy the more kilometers you rack up. Interestingly, different Pokemon require you walk different distances. For example, you need to walk 3 kilometers before you get a Candy for Slowpoke. You only get one candy after walking that specific distance, though. You can find out more about your Buddys progress by tapping the Trainer profile icon, then tapping the top of the screen, where your Trainer and Buddy are hanging out. At the top of the screen youll see the total distance traveled. In the middle, youll see your Buddy . At the bottom, theres a gauge that shows how far you still need to walk for a Candy.
The Official Methods To Get Rare Candy
For starters, to get all the Pokemon, you need to have the app open to view which Pokemon are nearby. So There are many ways to get the rare candy for playing the Pokemon Go. But let us see the official methods that can help to get the rare candy:
- The first method is to get the rare candies by winning the raid battles and this can be achieved by beating the raid boss. For this you need to club with the fellow Pokemon Go players and attack the raid boss.
The no. of rare candies will depend on the power of the Raid Boss. For example, if you beat a tier 1 Raid boss you will get 1-2 candies and when you beat a tier 5 legendary you may get 12 rare candies.
Putting efforts into the Field Research tasks is another way to gain rare candy. Keep in mind that, Pokemon Go has 2 research types Field Research and Special Research. If you complete the Field research task like visiting Pokestops, the game will be more rewarding. This research includes almost every activity in the game. Also, harder the tasks, better the rewards! For instance, try to find rare Pokemon.

How To Get Mega Energy In Pokmon Go
Mega Energy is specific to each individual Pokémon – similar to how Candy works in the game. So if you want to Mega Evolve a Bulbasaur into Mega Bulbasaur, you need Bulbasaur Mega Energy.
Mega Energy is primarily found from completing Mega Raids, a type of Raid encounter featuring Mega Pokémon. The faster you win a Mega Raid, the more Mega Energy you receive and this amount was then increased in September 2020 thanks to feedback from players.
It’s also been confirmed as a reward in certain Special Research rewards you can receive Mega Energy for Beedrill, for example, by completing ‘A Mega Discovery’. Since Mega Energy is specific to each type of Pokémon, we suspect there will be more ways to get Mega Energy over time as they rotate in and out of Raids – though that is speculation on our part.
On Thursday, 3rd September 2020, Niantic announced that it was working on a number of adjustments to improve how Mega Energy is earned in Pokémon Go. These new Mega Energy earning methods include:
- Additional ways to earn Mega Energy from research tasks
- Walking with your buddy
Niantic also announced that it was working on an adjustment that would allow you to earn bonus Candy when you caught a Pokémon that shared the same type as your Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
How To Get Candy
Aside from Rare Candy, the easiest way to get candy is by catching lots of Pokemon. Combos award more candy than catching Pokemon randomly. Learn more about combos on the Pokemon: Let’s Go Catch Combo Guide.
Once you’ve looked over the Pokemon you caught, send the extras to the Professor for even more candy. Professor Oak will send you bonus candy if you’ve sent him a lot of one species of Pokemon.

Theres An Easier Way To Evolve Feebas For Pokmon Gos Thousand Year Slumber Jirachi Quest
If you boot up Pokémon GO right now, youll get some special research. A Thousand Year Slumberis a new quest for you to complete, and at the end of the line youll be able to get your hands on Jirachi, the mythical creature that had previously. A lot of the quest is pretty straightforward, but theres one task in step 2 that might cause people some trouble. Luckily, its about to get a lot easier to evolve a Feebas.
Feebas is likely to be a sticking point for most people. The ragged-looking little fish is very rare outside of events, and plenty of people that missed those events might be awfully short on the 100 candy required to evolve it. If youre trying to manage that with the little fish as your buddy, thats going to take you a minimum of 500 kilometers, minus whatever you got from catching it to begin with. Thats a whole lot to ask out of anyone, and would likely mean youd be working on this thing for months if youre not using rare candy or other bonuses.
So if you were busily making a spreadsheet about just how you were going to cover the several hundred kilometers required to evolve Feebas, just wait until tomorrow, August 23, and you should have a much simpler time of it.
Theres no way to get around the 20km you have to walk with your fishy friend, but thats much more manageable than 500.
Pokemon Sword And Shield
While its totally possible to encounter Charmander as a Max Raid Battle target, there is only one proven method for getting a Charmander of your own: Beating the game. Given that Charmander is received as part of an end-game reward, consider this your spoiler warning: Further information on how to unlock this Pokemon will discuss end-game topics. Reader discretion is advised.
To get Charmander, players will need to fight their way through the Pokemon League and take down Leon. Hes the Champion of the League, and is a much higher level than other bracket contenders. Coincidentally, hell make use of a Charizard, and isnt at all afraid of going Gigantamax. Bring your best water-type fighter and prepare for a lengthy battle.
Once Leon has been defeated, the game will spit the player back out in their home. From there, make way to Leons house. If you walk into his bedroom youll find a single Poke Ball sitting in the middle of the rug. Inside that Poke Ball is a Charmander, and its yours to keep.
It wont be a shiny Charmandertheres no way it could be, in fact, so theres no need to try to reload the save in the effort of getting a shiny. However, it can be fully evolved, and with due diligence, players can eventually Gigantamax their own Charizard, same as Leon.
