IVs are a set of hidden stats that affect each individual Pokemon’s base stats, which is what each Pokemon’s stats unique, and why they’re such an important factor in strong Pokemon. How To Check Ivs

Now to check your Pokemons IVs you will need to do a few things first.

• Complete the main story of Pokemon Sw & Sh
• Go to the Battle Tower and challenge it
• Get six victories which your last battle should be against Leon
• Have Rank PokeBall or higher.
• Open your Pokemon box and press + to see IVs

What Are IVs?Individual Value is a unique value that each Pokemon has each stat has an IV which fluctuates and determines the highest possible value for each stat. Each stat, such as Attack, has an individual value assigned to it from 0 to 31. It is random and technically cannot be changed.

How To Change IVsIndividual Values technically cannot be changed, but you can alter them by Hyper Training while in the Battle Tower speak to the NPC on the far right of the counter pay one Bottle Cap to Hyper Train a single stat of a level 100 Pokemon to be considered Best you can also pay with a Gold Bottle Cap to Hyper Train all the stats for that Pokemon the reason why you technically cannot change a Pokemon IV is that when breeding the IVs will not pass down.

In order to unlock the IV Checker in Pokémon Sword & Shield, the player needs to finish the main storyline and defeat Leon in the Battle Tower.

The older games in the Pokémonseries made it difficult to detect the Individual Values of Pokémon stats, but its possible to easily check them in Pokémon Sword & Shieldin the post-game, so long as the player is able to crush Leon in a second battle.

Individual Values determine how much a Pokémons stats will increase when it levels up. A Pokémons IVs are determined when its created by the game and encountered by the player for the first time, but the player cannot easily find out what they are without outside help. Its possible to unlock an IV Checker in Pokémon Sword & Shield that will judge a Pokémons stats based on their IVs while they are in a Pokémon Box, but the player needs to work for it first.

Help your Pokémon reach their greatest potential.

Individual Values, typically referred to as IVs, are unseen elements that affect a Pokémons base stats. Theyre generally hidden from the player but can be viewed in Sword and Shield thanks to the Judge feature.

This feature isnt regularly available to the player, though. In fact, you dont receive the Judge feature until you complete Sword and Shields main story mode. You must then travel to the Battle Tower where youll compete against some of the most challenging trainers in the game. You must achieve six consecutive victories and then defeat Champion Leon. This will earn you Rank 4 in the Battle Tower and will unlock the Judge feature for you to use.

Once youve unlocked the Judge feature, find a PC or go to your party and open your Pokémon box. Then scroll over to whichever Pokémons stats youre curious about and press the + button on your joycon.

The amount of IVs a Pokémon has range from zero to 31, but the game doesnt explicitly tell trainers this. Instead, Sword and Shield uses terms to describe how many IVs a Pokémon has.

IVs, also known as Individual Values, are certain values assigned to a Pokemons stats at random when you encounter them. Each of the 6 stats that a Pokemon possessestheir HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speedhave an IV attached to them.

This IV can range from any number between 0 to 31. The higher the IV a Pokemon has assigned for a particular stat, the stronger that stat will be. For example, if you catch a Gible with 0 IVs in its Attack stat as opposed to a Gible youve caught previously that has 31 IVs in its Attack stat, the 0 Attack IV Gible will be noticeably weaker when attacking with physical moves than the Gible with 31 Attack IVs.

How To Check Pokemon Ivs In Sword And Shield

Now that youve got the Judge function, to check IVs in Pokemon Sword and Shield, simply open your Box or Party, select the Pokemon you want to see the values of, and press the + button. Select View Stats, and then press + again for the Judge option.

Youll now see all of your Pokemons stats broken down with a rating next to them. The IV ratings are as follows:

Hyper Training In Pokmon Sword And Shield

The only way to affect a Pokémons IVs is to go through Hyper Training. If you have a Lv. 100 Pokémon, you can use a Bottle Cap in the Battle Tower to make an individual stat perform as if it is a perfect IV. You can also use a Gold Bottle Cap to make all of a Pokémons IVs perform perfectly. There is no way to pass this on through breeding.

To get Bottle Caps, win battles at the Battle Tower, win Ranked Battles, purchase them for 25 Battle Points at the BP Shop, and win Max Raid Battles. You can also use Pokémon to get Bottle Caps, by paying the Digging Duo in the Wild Area in Bridge Field 500 Watts. This isnt guaranteed, but they have a chance to get a Bottle Cap. High-level Pokémon with the Pickup Ability can also find Bottle Caps.

Use these tips to create the ultimate Pokémon team and to become the best there ever was- at least in regards to your teams IVs. Catch and breed Pokémon with high IVs and become the ultimate trainer in the Galar region.

How Do I Check Ivs

You wont be able to check IVs until after you beat Leon in the Pokémon League. After beating him, head to the Battle Tower and win six matches. Once you do that, youll be able to check your Pokémons IVs by hitting the plus button in the PC. The goal is to have best in every category, though if you have a Pokémon that focuses on physical attacking, you wont need their special attack to be best and vice-versa.

All that said, unless youre really super serious about competitive play, you shouldnt be remotely distressed if your brand new Shiny Pokémon has weak IV numbers. The overall impact isnt going to keep you from having fun and your black sheep Wooloo is great no matter what.

Your Pokmon’s Individual Values

Anyone who wants to battle competitively with friends or in Championships will want to make sure the Pokémon in their party have strong stats. How To Change Ivs

Though Individual Valuestechnically can’t be changed, they can be altered by Hyper Training.

In the Battle Tower, speak to the NPC on the far right of the counter. Exchange a Bottle Cap to Hyper Train a Lv. 100 Pokemon in a single stat. This stat will then be considered “Best”.

You can also use a Gold Bottle Cap to Hyper Train all of a Pokemon’s stats, so they all work as “Best”.

Breeding Pokmon With Good Ivs

Once you grab your good IV Pokémon from a raid or get a Ditto with good IVs, the goal is to make a Pokémon with at least five perfect IVs.

To get a parent Pokémon to pass down IVs, give it a Destiny Knot to hold. This passes down five of their IVs to their child, randomly. Having a parent hold a power item thats used for EV training will have the parent pass down the corresponding stat guaranteed. The Power Weight will pass down the HP IVs of the holder, the Power Bracer will pass down the attack IVs, and so forth. All of these items can be purchased from a NPC in the central Hammerlocke Pokémon Center for 10 Battle Points each.

If your Pokémon focuses on physical attacks, they wont need a perfect special attack IV and vice-versa, though theres nothing wrong with getting a fully perfect Pokémon for the clout.
