Whether youre aiming for the Generation I eeveelutions, which are completely random, or the later generations, which arent random but require some work, evolving Eevee usually takes some time and hard work. Here, were going to focus on how to get Umbreon.
Now, there are three ways you can obtain an Umbreon in the game two are evolutions and one is by trading it with someone who already has one. Were going to explain each of these methods for you.
Pokemon Go Eevee Community Day Perks
Aside from the usual increase in spawns and the higher rate of finding a Shiny, this weekends Pokemon Go Eevee Community Day event will give trainers even more perks. From Friday, August 13 at 1 p.m. EDT to Monday, August 16 at 1 p.m. EDT, when Eevee evolves into its many evolutions they will learn an exclusive move. Below are the Pokemon-exclusive moves that will be learned during Community Day:
- Vaporeon: Scald
- Sylveon: Psyshock
- Eevee caught or hatched during this time will know Last Resort.
Also, evolving Sylveon will be much easier during the two-day event. More information on Sylveons evolution method is below, but obtaining the Fairy-type will only require seven friendship hearts instead of the usual 70.
How To Get Vaporeon Jolteon And Flareon During Community Day
Unfortunately, these three Eeveelutions remain entirely random.
Unlike some of the others, Niantic hasnt changed the evolution method for these three and its simply a case of having 25 Eevee Candies, hitting the evolve button and hoping for the best.
The only other option relies on players not having used the naming trick, which is highly unlikely as it was discovered over five years ago.
However, for those who havent, used the trick yet, its simple. Naming your Eevee either Pyro, Sparky or Rainer and then evolving it will cause it to evolve into either Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon respectively.
Just remember, this is a one-time use deal, so use it wisely.

Do you know how did the Eevees get their names? If you are an ardent follower of the anime series, you know that these Pokémon got their names after their trainers.
Rainer, Tamao, Sakura, Sparky, and Pyro are the Eevee siblings you see in the anime. They are the owners of 3rd generation evolutionary Eevee Pokémon. Each brother has their own unique Eevee.
Later in the series, Sakura gets to have her Espeon, and Tamao uses her own Umbreon.
Glaceon and Leafeon get their names from NPCs that use eeveelution in Eevium Z Quest of Pokémon.

Name Trick Method For Evolving Eevee Into Espeon
One of the two ways that Pokemon GO trainers can turn their Eevee into an Espeon is by using a naming trick that was discovered quite some time ago. By changing Eevees name to Sakura, itll automatically turn into Espeon once it has been fed 25 Eevee Candies.

To change the name of a Pokemon, players will want to go into the Pokemons profile and then hit the pencil icon by its current name. This will allow for the changing of a Pokemons nickname. Its worth noting that this trick will only work one time per evolution type, meaning that players will not be able to get multiple Espeons from this exploit. Make sure to pick the perfect Eevee with the best stats before the decision is made.
Once the nickname has been changed, players will need to select the Evolve option in the Pokemons data screen. Pokemon GO will then make the player confirm the evolution, and then the Espeon will be there to greet them. Of course, trainers can always change the nickname to something else or just name it Espeon, depending on how they play. Changing Sakura to anything else will not cancel out the evolution or somehow revert the Espeon back into an Eevee.

Evolve Eevee With Nicknames
You can utilize the method of Pokémon Eevee names to evolve it. There are eight different forms of Eevee Evolution such as Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon and Sylveon. When you get the 25 candies, you will be able to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon randomly. But how can you force Eevee into evolving by eliminating the random changes? For this, you have to change the name of Eevee before you evolve it.

To Get Sylveon In Pokmon Go You Have To Evolve Eevee In A Specific Way
As previously mentioned, Eevee has had a lot of evolution iterations over the years, and Sylveon is just the latest one to join the roster. However, evolution works a bit differently in Pokémon GOas opposed to other Pokémon games in the past. The evolution process in this game is dictated by feeding the Pokémon a certain number of candies that will eventually evolve them. Candies arent exactly the easiest thing to come by either, so players constantly work hard to track down enough.
Once you have the required number of candies , you can go ahead and begin the basic evolution process. This will allow the Eevee to randomly turn into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon, but not Sylveon. To get Sylveon, a different, special step has to be taken.
If you rename Eevee as Kira it will specifically evolve into Sylveon, which is a fairy-type Pokémon. Its important to note that this specific trick will only work once for each evolution type, so players have to be really sure that Sylveon is the Pokémon they want to go with.
