Pokmon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Pokmon: Let’s Go Eevee Are A Fascinating Hybrid Of Old And New Pokmon Games

Pokemon Sun and Moon Coming to Nintendo Switch?! (RUMOUR)

“Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” and “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!” are sort of the same game, and sort of not the same game.

One stars Pikachu, the other stars Eevee. In every other way, as far as we know so far, they are identical.

But what are they? Here’s how Nintendo puts it:

“Inspired by ‘Pokémon Yellow,’ which was originally released in Japan on Nintendos Game Boy in 1998, these two new titles feature many of the intuitive gameplay functions offered to players in the hugely popular ‘Pokémon Go’ and are designed for players taking their first steps into the Pokémon video game world.”

Given the inspiration, both games are set in the Kanto region, the locale of the original Game Boy games. Instead of random encounters with unseen Pokémon, you’ll actually see the creatures living their lives. And instead of selecting a Pokéball and pushing a button to catch Pokémon, you can flick your controller, the same way you would swipe your finger in “Pokémon Go.”

The characteristic circles from “Pokémon Go” are even part of the capture:

That the games will be familiar to “Pokémon Go” players is no mistake.

Millions of people experienced Pokémon for the first time with the hugely popular mobile game, so it makes sense to ease those new players in with familiar trappings. In the same vein, the games will offer interoperability with “Pokémon Go,” as well as two-player cooperative action.

Pokmon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Pokmon: Let’s Go Eevee Offer A Gorgeous Re

Though it’s not exactly like a traditional Pokémon game, “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!” and “Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!” seemingly offers a lot of the delightful exploration, battling, and collection that main series Pokémon games do.

That’s no doubt a testament to its “Pokémon Yellow” roots.

New players and long-time fans will both appreciate how gorgeous the recreation is these first screenshots are quite endearing:

Do You Think Pokemon Sun And Moon Are Good

This Is Why Pokemon Ultra Sun And Moon Aren

Pokémon Sun and Moon were great games that aimed to take the series in a different direction. However, it had a slow pace and the story was subpar. Some fans from online communities have actually created hacked rom versions that aim to upgrade these games. These rom hacks change the balance and add a lot to the original experience.

Pok Safari: New Pokmon Snap

Ride around on a track and take pictures of wild Pokémon in their natural habitats in the New Pokémon Snap. You’ll have to use items and food to get some Pokémon to come out into the open. Will you be able to fill out your Photodex and figure out the mystery behind the Illumina phenomenon?

Alongside Pokmon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Pokmon: Let’s Go Eevee Nintendo Is Releasing This Insane Pokball Controller:

What’s better than flicking a controller as if you were flinging a Pokéball? Throwing your own, of course!

And Nintendo is enabling just that with the so-called Pokéball Plus.

The ball itself is a motion controller. Thus, it can be used to capture Pokémon in the game. It also enables one kinda strange behavior. “When catching a Pokémon in the Nintendo Switch games,” Nintendo said, “players will be able to feel it moving within the device.” That certainly is an additional layer of interactivity.

More than just getting a swanky keychain that doubles as a motion controller for capturing Pokémon on the Switch, the Pokéball Plus can be used to play both “Pokémon: Lets Go, Pikachu!” and “Pokémon: Lets Go, Eevee!” Neat!

Pokemon For Switch Is Helped By Ultra Sun And Moon Says Dev

Gotta develop ’em all.

Game Freak is currently developing at least three Pokemon games: Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, and Pokemon for Nintendo Switch. The developer, of course, wants to make the best games it can, but with so many projects on the go and only limited resources, you would think each game would have the potential to hinder the development of the others. However, in an interview with GameSpot, the developer explained how making Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is actually helping development of the upcoming Switch title.

“Of course we have a limited number of staff available to us, but we have a very varied staff within the company,” Ultra Sun and Moon producer Shigeru Ohmori said. “We have younger staff members and also veterans who have been working on the series for a long time, very technically gifted staff members. We want to use these staff in the best way possible. For example this time with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon we can treat it mainly as a project for our younger staff to work on and grow and develop their skills, while perhaps the more veteran, established members of the company can work on the upcoming project.

“That’s an approach we often take: having a growth-based project for younger staff members and then a new project for the existing veterans. Using this project management style ensures all of our projects have a positive effect on one another as they go.”

Can You Play Older Pokemon Games On Nintendo Switch

Pokemon fans have been fighting for this capability since the Nintendo Switch was released. The Virtual Console has been a haven for fans of the older Pokemon games. The 3DS version allowed players to jump into the classics and play them as if it was a Game Boy at their fingertips.

Monarch

The Nintendo Switch has no such capability at this point. In regards to main series games, it only allows Sword and Shield and the Let’s Go series. That will soon change with the release of the Diamond and Pearl remakes.

New spin-off games, such as New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Legends Arceus, are on the horizon too. They are sure to bring many fresh and exciting adventures, but nothing can top the experience, the sounds, and the joy, of the older Pokemon games.

I really want Pokémon 3rd Gen on the virtual console for switch. You have no idea how many hours I would just sit and play fire red and leaf green!!! #pokemonplease#pokemon#nintendoplease

There have been countless rumors of an upgraded Nintendo Switch console being made. That has also delivered countless rumors of a new Virtual Console being released to appease users who may not purchase the new Switch right away.

Virtual Console on Switch… when?

For now, the best way to enjoy these classics is to download an emulator, fire up the 3DS Virtual Console, or simply go on the hunt for a Game Boy or Game Boy Advance.

What About Pokmon Go

Of course, Pokémon Sun and Moon arent the only games on Pokéfans lips, theres also Pokémon Go to consider. However, we cant see Niantics hit coming to the Nintendo Switch anytime soon.

For one thing, you cant really play Pokémon Go without an internet connection and the Nintendo Switch doesnt come with a 3G/4G Cellular connection to play on the go. So unless your home or office is particularly blessed with great nearby PokéStops, it would be a bit pointless to launch Pokémon Go on the Switch.

It does have a touchscreen, though, so it would technically work.

The First Game To Launch Pokmon Quest Isn’t A Typical Pokmon Game But It Is Pretty Good

Pokémon Direct: Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch ...

In “Pokémon Quest,” players cultivate a home base of wild Pokémon with which to take on hordes of enemy Pokémon in various you guessed it! quests.

Well, that’s not entirely accurate. There are indeed quests in the game, but the main thrust of it is leveling up your group of fighting Pokémon by winning battles and collecting loot. Since the game is “free to start,” there are options built in to buy in-game currency with real money, which can then be used for virtual items in the game.

That said, in the time I spent with “Pokémon Quest” this morning, I have mostly positive things to say. It’s certainly not a traditional Pokémon game, but it sure is immediately fun. Battles are simple at first, but ramp up in difficulty quickly you’ll need tactical thinking if you want to win consistently.

It looks and plays like a good mobile game, which makes sense “Pokémon Quest” is headed to iPhone and Android in June.

What About The Old Pokmon Games On Nintendo Switch

Wed love to see the older Pokémon titles arrive on the Nintendo Switch via the eShop, just as the original Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow did on the 3DS. Plus, theyd really work, as they dont need to utilise the dual screens of the 3DS and could be played full screen on the Switch. Of course, wed love to see that extend to newer entries in the series like Pokémon Gold and Silver or Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch actually has a vertical mode for some of the Neo Geo games that launched on the Switch eShop in the last few weeks. Could this pave the way for Game Boy Pokémon titles in the future?

Nintendo still hasnt given much information on when the Virtual Console service will come to the Switch. Its rumoured to be coming with a host of GameCube games, which would be a first for Virtual Console. Its believed that Nintendo delayed the service to give the Nintendo Switch launch games time to breathe, but theres still no word on when it will arrive.

Pokmon Sun And Moon On Nintendo Switch

Pokemon Sun and Moon to be on the Nintendo Switch?!

However, these postings may be related to a rumour weve heard before. Its been said that there is a Nintendo Switch version of the most recent series entries, Pokémon Sun and Moon, in the works. It wont actually be called Sun and Moon, though. Instead, its tipped to be titled Pokémon Stars, which follows the celestial naming scheme of the latest games.

It would supposedly act as the third entry in the latest generation of Pokémon games, like Pokémon Yellow to the original Pokémon Red and Blue. Theres usually a third game in a generation thats launched later than the original pair a trend that continued until Pokémon Platinum for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Supposedly, Pokémon Stars would be the third game to compliment Pokémon Sun and Moon but for the first time, the third game would launch on a different console to the originals.

If that is true, the Nintendo Switch would technically become the first Pokémon game to launch on a home console.

According to a report from Eurogamer, development on Pokémon Stars for the Nintendo Switch was paused at the end of last year to allow the team to apply the finishing touches to Pokémon Sun and Moon for the 3DS. But, it would seem that these efforts have now reignited.

How Will Pokmon Stars Be Different

Officially, theres been no mention of Pokémon Stars yet, but that hasnt stopped the online rumour mill churning. It seems that itll be basically the same game as Pokémon Sun and Moon. However, it could be that there might be more Pokémon to collect in Pokémon Starsand all of those featured across both games can be traded using Pokémon Bank, which we assume will come to Nintendo Switch too in the future.

Pokémon Stars will, of course, be running at a much higher resolution than Pokémon Sun and Moon on the 3DS, using separately created graphics. As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch runs games at a max 720p HD in tablet mode, which is boosted to a max 1080p full HD. The 3DS, on the other hand, features a top screen with a resolution of just 800 x 240p.

Aside from that, youre looking at the same map, the same story and the same basic game as Pokémon Sun and Moon.
