How to Mass Transfer / Release Pokemon in Pokemon Home for Pokemon Sword and Shield!

In 2020 Pokémon Sword and Shield will expand with two DLC expansions. However, Pokémon Home will finally help trainers get their partners from past generations over to Galar through use of a mobile app.

The Pokémon Company has released more information on this upcoming paid service including how trades and transfers work, as well as a list of features to expect when it releases in February.

While a specific release date was not revealed, trainers won’t have to wait too long for Pokémon Home’s release.

Here’s what we learned about Pokémon Home.

How Do I Transfer Pokmon From Pokmon Go To Pokmon Sword And Shield

It is not currently possible to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME directly, although the feature is coming before the end of 2020. We’ll update this guide when it launches.

If you’re absolutely desperate, you could move compatible Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee, and then to HOME, and then to Sword and Shield. If we were you, we’d sit tight and wait for the update, though.

Compatible Generations And Games

Pokemon Bank originally allowed players to move Pokemon across any games that included X and Y, Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

A companion app called Poke Transporter also allowed players to connect to the core Generation I, II and V core games.

  • Pokemon Bank – Nintendo 3DS

But this is only one way, they cannot withdraw them from Pokemon Home once they are on there

Pokemon Sword and Shield is the only exception to this, allowing you to freely move Pokemon to and from Home.

In theory, almost every game works with it but does not have full functionality.

With Sword and Shield not having the national Pokedex, it’s likely that this is in place to stop Pokemon moving to games that they are not supported in.

With Sword and Shield now getting an expansion, it was confirmed that any Pokemon found in Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armor or Crown of Tundra will be transferable to and from other titles.

Transfer From Pokmon Go

Main article: GO Transporter

One-way transfers from Pokémon GO to HOME was made available on November 11, 2020 , using the GO Transporter feature from the settings menu. Each Pokémon, depending on various attributes, requires an amount of GO Transport Energy to transfer to Pokémon HOME, which can be regained by using PokéCoins or simply waiting.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that were transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME can only be transferred to Pokémon Sword or Shield if that Pokémon has already been registered in the Pokédex or obtained at least once in that game. However this restriction only applies to Legendary or Mythical Pokémon stored in the HOME account they were originally transferred to, if they are traded to a different HOME account then they will be transferrable into Pokémon Sword or Shield without needing to have been previously obtained.

Upon the first transfer, the player will also receive a Melmetal that can Gigantamax in Pokémon HOME.

Differences Between Switch And Mobile Versions

Pokemon Home Release Date

While you can link you mobile version of Pokémon HOME with your Switch version, the features you can access differs depending on which version you’re using. One of the most basic things is that when using the mobile version, you can’t move Pokémon into Pokémon HOME from Switch games including Pokémon: Sword, Shield, Let’s Go, Pikachu!, and Let’s Go, Eevee! Additionally, mobile users cannot exchange Battle Points since this is something used in the Switch games.

When accessing the mobile version of Pokémon HOME, players have access to global trading with other users, being able to receive Mystery Gifts, and can check news and battle data. For more information on these features, continue reading.

Reaching certain milestones regarding the Pokémon you register in Pokémon HOME – related to all kinds of variables including number of Pokémon, type, nature, moves and more – will result in fulfilling Challenges, as listed in the mobile version of the app.

These Challenges will appear when you complete a part of them and finishing them rewards you with stickers and special backgrounds you can use to decorate the app and your profile.

Connect Pokmon Go To Pokmon Home

Before starting to transfer Pokémon, youll need to connect your Pokémon Go account to the same Nintendo account that is linked to Pokémon Home. Turn on Pokémon Go and tap the Poké Ball icon on the bottom of the screen. Then go into the Settings option in the top right corner. Scroll until you see Pokémon Home, which will prompt you to sign in with your Nintendo account.

Niantic has changed the system a little bit since Pokémon Homes initial release. Originally, only players at level 40 could transfer Pokémon from Go to Home. But now, all players can use this system regardless of their level.

Link Your Pokmon Bank With Pokmon Home

Once youre finished with the transfer, youll need to link your Pokémon Bank account on 3DS to your phone, Nintendo Switch, or whichever device you have the Home app installed on. I used the Home app on my Android phone, but this process is similar on the Switch.

  • First off, ensure that your Nintendo Account is linked to the Home app. It asks you to do that when you first run it, but you can link it manually in the settings by tapping the menu button on the bottom of the screen. Since you need to link your account on the Switch before you can download apps from the eShop, youll already be linked if youre using the Switch app.
  • Then select Options on the next screen if youre using the mobile app.
  • While youre still on the Options screen, youll need to convert to being a paying customer to link your Bank to Home. The minimum is a $2.99 monthly fee to keep the service running.
  • You dont have to keep paying once youve finished the transfer, but keeping your subscription active will give you more space to save pokémon and give you access to the other perks .
  • After you subscribe, open Pokémon Bank on your 3DS. Tap the Move Pokémon to Pokémon Home button on the main menu.
  • If you have the Home app installed on a phone or tablet, click Move Pokémon in the Options menu. On the Switch, click the 3DS symbol on the main screen.
  • In the Home app, youll be presented with a Moving Key that you have to input on your 3DS to initiate the transfer.

Yes, but probably not in its full premium form. You can use this to transfer any Kantonian versions of Pokémon that normally have Galarian forms like Kantonian Farfetchd to Sword and Shield from Lets Go, Eevee and Pikachu.

The mobile app is also the only way to access the global trade system, so you should definitely use that if youre trying to trade specific Pokémon.

Pokémon HOME is an app for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices that enables you to transfer compatible Pokémon from multiple previous games using the existing Pokémon Bank app to Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pokemon Home Price And How It Works

The Pokémon Home apps on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices will be a little different on each platform.

The Switch app will allow for Pokémon to be transferred from Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee and Sword and Shield as well as transfers of HOME points for Battle Points. However, the mobile version is where trainers can check for the latest news, trade Pokémon locally and receive Mystery Gifts.

The graph below explains what each version of Pokémon Home is capable of.

As for the price of Pokémon Home, trainers can download and use the base apps for free. However, there are limitations as to what the free version of Pokémon Home can do. Trainers won’t be able to transfer from the 3DS Pokémon Bank if they only have the basic plan. The amount of Pokémon that can be deposited, placed in the Wonder Room and more will be limited too.

The IV Checker will also not be available.

The Pokémon Home premium package allows many more Pokémon to participate in various features. The infographic below shows what is and is not available in both plans.

To purchase the premium version of Pokémon Home there are three options: one month, three months and an annual fee. This is how the prices break down.

  • One month – $2.99
  • Three months – $4.99
  • 12 months – $15.99

When Pokémon Home is launched, one month of Pokémon Bank for the 3DS will be free to get trainers started transferring Pokémon from previous generations.

What Pokmon Games Can I Use With Pokmon Home

As you can see above, Pokémon HOME is fully compatible with Pokémon Sword and Shield – you can transfer your Pokémon to and from the app at will.

You can also transfer Pokémon between Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! via Pokémon HOME, and transfer compatible Pokémon to from those games to Sword and Shield, although only monsters that are part of Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Galar Pokédex . Additionally, once they’re in Sword or Shield, they cannot then be transferred back to Let’s Go, Pikachu or Eevee.

Once transferred to Pokémon HOME, your Pokémon will be listed in the National Pokédex . Remember, Pokémon Sword and Shield has it’s own Pokédex and is not compatible with every single Pokémon, although with the additional Pokémon from the Expansion Passes, Sword and Shield will support over 600 Pokémon.

It is not currently possible to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, although the feature is coming. It should be noted that transferred Pokémon cannot be moved back to Pokémon GO once they have been moved to Pokémon HOME.

For previous generation games, all Pokémon must be transferred via Pokémon Bank on 3DS. While it is possible to transfer Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokémon from the 3DS Virtual Console releases of the original Game Boy games , it is not possible to move Pokémon from original Game Boy cartridges to Pokémon HOME.

How Do I Register Pokmon In My Pokdex

Importing Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Home will import the Pokédex data with it. Itll also show all of the different Pokémon forms for Pokémon like Rotom.

Linking to the Nintendo Switch games will not take the Pokédex data from the game, but it will after you import the Pokémon. It will not register Gigantamax variants unless you send a Gigantamax-able Pokémon to Home.

At the time of writing, it seems like the mobile version registers the Pokémon into the Pokédex slowly, so you might have to wait before all the entries fill in on your phone.

How To Move Pokmon Between Switch Games

Uploading And Organizing Pokemon In Pokemon Home

How to mass release Pokémon Home/Sword/Shield / Apagando ...

Right now, the main function for Pokemon Home is to store and organize Pokemon from a variety of different Pokemon games, and transferring them over to home is relatively easy. It is important to note that at this time Pokemon can only be added to Home through the Nintendo Switch Home app, and boxes within Home can only be organized through the Switch app as well. But don’t worry, the mobile app has plenty of uses we will get to later.

To add Pokemon to Home, open the Pokemon Home Switch app and select “Pokemon”. Once selected, the app will ask you which game the trainer wants to add Pokemon to or from. If a trainer is using a hard copy of the game, it will need to be in the Nintendo Switch for Pokemon Home to have access to it. If a trainer has their Pokemon games digitally downloaded, they will all be available to swap Pokemon between.

Once the trainer selects a game they will have access to both the Home boxes and the games boxes. Home boxes are on the left and the games boxes are on the right. From here trainers can drag and drop Pokemon from the game into the Home boxes or vice versa. However, some Pokemon cannot be put into certain games and that is indicated by a red “no symbol.” As well, some Pokemon will have a yellow “warning symbol” which means if they are added to the game one of the moves that Pokemon knows will not be usable because that game does not include that move.
