Nintendo Europe has announced this morning that the release date for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver in the UK is 26th March.

In addition they have confirmed that the Pokewalker peripheral is also due for release in Europe and they’ve even been kind enough to give some additional details on how the little device operates.

The Pokewalker has a pedometer in it so you can transport a single Pokemon into the device and take it on a walk with you.

The Pokemon in the Pokewalker will gain experience as you walk, making for an alternate means of training. Once you are finished walking the Pokemon, collected items and captured Pokemon can be transferred back to Pokemon SoulSilver and HeartGold.

If you know a friend or two also taking their Pokemon for a walk, you can use the infrared port on the device to get gifts from each other. Older Pokefans may be reminded of the Virtual Pokemon “Tamagotchi” from back in the late ’90s, so this is essentially a game and a virtual pet in a box

I had waited for weeks. Weeks. It was a pretty cold and miserable night in late October 2000, but the homework was done and I was ready. You see, weeks back I had filled out a Nintendo Power pull-out, dropped two or three $20 bills into an envelope, and was waiting for my prize. Hours went by, and I was checking the doorstop every ten minutes to see if FedEx had come by. Finally, much later than usual, I opened the door, and there it was: Pokémon Silver, sitting in a box waiting to be opened.

That night will go down as the de-facto gaming experience of my childhood. Pokémon wasnt just something I played, it was something I lived. My early web surfing life was full of checking out Pokémon sites to find out about the latest monsters to be uncovered. It was more than just Pikachu it was Totodile, it was Marill, it was three wandering dogs and two dangerous birds. Never again has a game impacted me like that. No following Pokémon game could ever compare to that, and none would ever hold my imagination like that.

Now, Nintendo has done the worst, and forced my childhood to come back with a vengeance. PokémonHeartGold and SoulSilver are due to be released in the States come March 14, and as luck would have it, this is the only Pokémon game I have wanted to play in the last ten years. Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version are 2009 remakes of the 1999 Game Boy Colorrole-playing video gamesPokémon Gold and Silver, also including features from Pokémon Crystal. They improved an already groundbreaking formula with enhanced graphics and more Pokemon to add to your collection. They addressed the clunky menu system of the original games and added online trading and battling functions.

As a result of these poor sales, the game didnt get too much attention, eventually making it rather scarce down the line due to supply and demand. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance was the first in a two-part series, and despite both games being rare, Path of Radiance is easily the hardest to find.

If you want a copy of this game, youll have to pay more than $300. Its not some special edition either its just the base game with the case and manual. I managed to get a copy of Path of Radiance a few years ago for $250, and that was a steal.

This game and its sequel are due for a re-release as theyre hard to find and some of the most expensive games on their consoles. Path of Radiance is one of the Gamecubes most rare games.

There are not a lot of long-running video game franchises out there that have managed to keep the same level of quality as Nintendo and Game Freaks Pokémon franchise, which started way back on the original Game Boy with Pokémon Red and Blue in 1998. And while the series hasnt seen a great deal of evolvement its certainly seen a number of incremental benefits over the course of its nearly 15 years of existence. But its worth saying that Pokémon Black/White 2 is about the biggest step forward that the franchise has taken since its humble black and white beginnings on Nintendos original portable platform.

And that progression doesnt really come from the gameplay mechanics, which are more or less the same as any other game in the series. Youll still take on the role of a mute, young boy or girl protagonist, who grew up in a small town and sets off on an adventure to, indeed, be the very best. Youll get your first Pokémon before heading out, with the ability to select from three, and your rival/best friend will end up picking the Pokémon that yours is weak against.

Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal added strong new monsters, but for each version of the game, there are different creatures available for capture. Common Pokemon like Zubat and Pidgey can be commonly found in all versions, but some are exclusive to each distinct version. The Gold version exclusively has the Mankey, Growlithe, Spinarak, and Teddiursa evolutionary lines, in addition to Gligar and Mantine. Silver, on the other hand, has the Meowth, Vuplix, Ledyba, and Phanphy evolutionary lines and the single-stage Pokemon Skarmory and Delibird. The Crystal version is a little bit different from Gold and Silver when it comes to available Pokemon.

Pokemon Crystal is the third game of the 2nd generation, and its generally considered to be a refinement of Gold and Silver. Crystal has all the usual Pokemon a gamer might expect, but some notable omissions can only be obtained by trading with the other games of the 2nd and 1st generations.
