Trading Between Game Generations

How to Evolve Any Pokemon Without Trading in Any Game (Emulator Only)

Pokémon can be traded between Generation I and Generation II games using the Time Capsule feature. For compatibility purposes, the Pokémon to be traded from the Generation II game must be a species that existed in Generation I and cannot have any moves introduced in Generation II. The Time Capsule exploit can be used to trick the game into trading Generation II Pokémon back to Generation I as well, but they will become glitch Pokémon like MissingNo.. Additionally, the trade evolution learnset oversight can also be used to trade a Pokémon with a Generation II move back to a Generation I game, though it will become a glitch move. This is the only instance in the series in which Pokémon can be sent back to games from a previous generation.

It is not possible to trade between Generation II and Generation III games.

Starting in Generation IV, Pokémon from previous generations can be transferred to newer generations through a variety of methods, though none of them involve trading.

How Do I Get Merit Points

Merit Points are earned by taking part in Pokémon Legends: Arceus Lost and Found system, which involves helping other players recover their lost items.

When you or another player are knocked out by an aggressive Pokémon, youll drop items and be returned to the last camp you visited. If youre playing online, other players can visit the location where you were knocked out and retrieve your dropped belongings, which will then be delivered to you.

When you check your map, youll sometimes see satchel icons. These are either satchels belonging to other players if youre playing online, or satchels generated by the game if youre playing offline.

Simply head to the location shown on your map, and pick up the satchel when you find it.

Once youve picked up the lost satchel, youll notice an exclamation mark on your bag in the bottom left of the screen. Navigate to the Communications tab on your bag and head to the Lost and Found section. There you can redeem your Merit Point reward.

Once youve done a bunch of these, head back to Jubilife Village and grab whichever trade evolution item you need.

How To Evolve Into Gengar In Pokemon Legends Arceus

How to evolve Graveler without trading in Pokemon Sun Moon ...

In past Pokemon games right back to the first generation, Gengar was one of the more difficult and frustrating evolutions to try to obtain for a simple reason: it had a requirement that you engage in the Pokemon trading mechanic in order to get it. Specifically, you had to trade a Haunter to another player, and when you did itd automatically evolve into Gengar.

That mechanic is still present in Pokemon Legends Arceus, and still works – if you trade a Haunter to another player at the trade point in Jubilife Village, it will still evolve to Gengar when it arrives to the other player. However, in this game, theres an easier way.

With multiplayer features like battling friends stripped out of this release, it appears the developers have deliberately tried to ensure that Pokemon Legends Arceus can be played solely as a single-player endeavor if you want. Because of that, theres a new item that can be used to force Pokemon that usually evolve when traded to do so without: the Linking Cord.

The Linking Cord is of course a reference to the old-school Game Boy Link Cables thatd be used to connect Pokemon Red and Blue back in the day. In Pokemon Legends Arceus, you just need to use the Linking Cable on Haunter and itll evolve to Gengar immediately.

Linking Cords are like other evolution items, and so are quite rare. Find them in the following places:

How To Evolve Trade Pokmon Without Trading In Pokmon Legends: Arceus

Since the very first generation of the series, a handful of Pokémon have required Trainers to trade them between one another in order to reach their fully-evolved states. This still holds true with Pokémon games today, and that includes Pokémon Legends: Arceus. However, while Pokémon Legends: Arceus does feature a normal online trading system, its a bit more of a solo adventure by design. In following that theme, the devs have added a way to bypass the trading requirements for some evolutions. In this guide, well explain how to evolve trade Pokémon without trading in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Whether you dont have any Switch friends who own the game or just dont feel like bothering them when youre playing at 3:00 AM, its not always possible to wrangle up someone to do a trade with you in a Pokémon game. For those times, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has introduced a new item known as the Linking Cord. Get it? Its like the old Game Boy Link Cable? Well, anyway, the Linking Cord functions kind of like an evolutionary stone. If you use it on a Pokémon that would normally evolve via a trade, itll evolve on its own, easy peasy. Its reusable too, so you only need to get one.

    Mid-generation additions

Starting with Generation IV, mid-generation releases started including new moves, items, forms, or even species of Pokémon. Since, prior to Generation VIII, they were impossible to trade to games that predate them, additional limitations have been put in place for them specifically. Most can be circumvented by altering the Pokémon’s moveset, held item and/or form, and with the exception of the Spiky-eared Pichu-related limitation, all of them have been lifted in their respective following Generations:

    • In Generation IV or V, new forms or items cannot be traded at all, even between games that support them. They include:
  • New species introduced in the games: Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, and Zeraora.
  • Partner Cap Pikachu, Rockruff with Own Tempo and Dusk Form Lycanroc.
  • Starting with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, the games stopped supporting direct trades between games that aren’t paired releases entirely, rendering this matter moot. Also, starting with Pokémon Sword and Shield, they can receive support for new moves, items, forms, and species via updates, removing the need for such limitations as long as they are kept up-to-date.

    Other cases

Pokémon with certain Gift Ribbons cannot be traded over the GTS or through Wonder Trade.

Due to requiring special handling by the game, fused Pokémon cannot be traded. These are Black and White Kyurem, Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma and Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex.

What Are Trade Evolutions In Pokemon Legends Arceus

In the original series, certain Pokemon could only be obtained after trading to another player to trigger its evolution. As the franchise went on, this became even more complex as trainers would also need to equip certain mon with a special item before sending it.

In Hisui, these requirements have been completely lifted and players are able to get the characters without trading. Heres how to evolve trade evolutions in Pokemon Legends Arceus:

The Trading Evolution Glitch DiscussionWell yeah, you do have to perform a trade, but you don’t have to trade your beloved Level 100 Shiny Porygon for it to evolve! aljames managed to compose a nice guide, so I give complete credit to him. Here it is:1. If it needs an evolution item, equip the item before you even start. If the Pokemon doesn’t use an evolutionary item to evolve, go right ahead to Step Two.2. Deposit it at the GTS, and ask for an impossible-to-obtain-Pokemon.3. Go back to the menu where you see DEPOSIT POKEMON, SEEK POKEMON and EXIT.4. Choose SEEK POKEMON. Seek a Pokemon and perform a trade.5. After the trade, go back to the menu where you see SUMMARY, SEEK POKEMON and EXIT.6. Choose SUMMARY and take back your Pokemon. It will evolve now if you did this correctly..You need a Wi-Fi Connection, and that’s about it… I hope that this helps to keep Wi-Fi Scammers at bay, and to keep the Blacklist Thread in the Battling/Trading Section as slim as possible!

Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ Solo Evolutions Perfect The Experience

Pokemon Legends: Arceusis designed as a solo experience, and while trading and online connectivity are still available throughout the game, this title was conceived to be fully playable alone. The game’s theme of Pokemon trainers being scarce because people are afraid of the creatures is a recurring one throughout the different acts that make Pokemon Legends: Arceus‘ story, and thus it makes sense for players relying only on themselves to complete the Pokedex by catching them all – this time for real.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl needed trade-exclusive evolutions to go away too, and players were very unhappy with this because many creatures were impossible to get in any given playthrough unless they were traded with other trainers. This approach has been there ever since Generation 1, back when players needed physical linking cords to connect their consoles and get the trade going, so it’s wholesome and very clever to use an item called Linking Cord to evolve trade-exclusive creatures this time around.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for the Nintendo Switch.

Where To Get Trade Evolution Items

It’s not enough to know the name of a trade evolution item, of course. You’ll need to know where to find them.

In a nice bit of neatness, every trade evolution item is obtained via a Jubilife Town NPC named Simona. She’s not hard to miss, plying her wares as she does near the edge of town. But Simona only accepts one kind of currency, and it’s not something you’ll receive from your job with the Survey Corps.

Every Trade Evolution Pokemon And Key Item

In past Pokemon games, there have even been additional measures involved in the evolution of certain species besides simply performing the trades themselves. In such instances, specific trade evolution items are mandatory. Those items are still in the game, but as with the Linking Cord, the actual trading is no longer necessary.

To use a trade evolution item on a Pokemon, simply select the item and then apply it to the pal you’d love to see evolve. In this sense, every trade item now works the same way that Evolutionary Stones always have.

Let’s take a gander at every trade evolution Pokemon and what you’ll need in order to do the deed.
