Go Battle League: Season 10 Update

GREAT LEAGUE TEAM BUILDING GUIDE | POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE

Trainers,

GO Battle League Season 10 is set to kick off!

As previously announced, Trainers who reach Legend rank this season will be able to register early for certain Pokémon GO World Championship Series events! Stay tunedadditional details will be posted on the Pokémon GO World Championship Series page soon.

Earning Go Battle League Sets In The Pokmon Go Battle League

Until further notice, walking will not be required to unlock Battle Sets

Battles in the Pokémon Go Battle League come in five Battle increments called Go Battle League Sets. The first of these Sets is free, but each Set after that has to be earned and/or purchased. To earn a Go Battle League Set, you need to walk five KM, but you also have the option of paying Poké Coins to speed this up. Even if you pay to Battle early, you still need to walk at least 2 KM, so players who sink lots of money into the game will still have to work for their Battle Sets.

Players can earn up to five Sets each day. However, each Set requires walking another 5 KM, so participation really requires keeping active and playing a lot. You can see your progress towards earning your next Set in the Battle Menu, and the app also notifies you when you’ve earned another Set.

Finding The Right Balance

Every comprehensive Great league team must have balance and synergy among its members. Just like with any good sports team that requires a balance of attack-minded, defense-minded as well as all-round players, so too does a competitive PvP team.

This balance can be struck when there is sufficient coverage of Leads, Attackers, Defenders, and Closers. In case you are unfamiliar with this nomenclature, here is a quick refresher on what they mean:

Lead: A lead Pokémon, as the name suggests is the Pokémon you send out into battle first. Leads tend to have decent bulk, as well as a substantive amount of offensive pressure either by firing off charged moves rapidly or by chunking away at the opponent with certain heavy-hitting fast moves.

Some Pokémon that perform triumphantly in this role are:

For intermediate and seasoned trainers who want to compete in tournaments and have the resources and inclination to do so, Deoxys Defense Forme is a formidable Lead Pokémon in PvP. Being a mythical Pokémon, it is somewhat exclusive to obtain and costs a small fortune to unlock the second charge move. However, it is a worthy investment and will continue to be a force to be reckoned in the years to come.

Closer: Closers are at their pinnacle when there are no shields at play, and are typically sent out at the tail-end of the battle to clean up and finish the job. They tend to have good typing, decent bulk, and a combination of good charged moves to perform their role appropriately.

Pokmon Go Battle League Season 9 Special Cups And Leagues Explained

There are a number of special cups and leagues for you to partake in throughout Season 9 of the Go Battle League. Some of these cups, like the Halloween Cup, have already run in previous years.

The first is the Great League Remix, which runs during the first Great League from Monday, 30th August to Monday, 13th September. For this cup, you’ll be unable to select the Pokémon which were most used in the Great League by players at the Ace Rank or above last season.

The second special Cup is the Ultra League Remix, which, like the Great League Remix, bans a selection of Pokémon that were most used in the Ultra League by players with the Ace Rank or above last season. You’ll be able to compete in the Ultra League Remix from Monday, 13th September to Monday, 27th September.

Next is the Master League Classic which runs during the first dedicated Master League period for Season 9 – Monday, 27th September to Monday, 11th October.

If you want to partake in this league you must ensure none of the Pokémon in your team have been powered up with Candy XL.

The Little Jungle Cup is the first new special cup for Season 9 and will run from Monday, 27th September to Monday, 11th October.

For this cup you’re only allowed to use bug, dark, electric, flying, grass, ground and poison-type Pokémon or are a combination of these types. The Pokémon you choose must meet or be beneath the CP limit of 500 and can evolve. It’s important to note, however, that you can’t use Shuckle or Smeargle.

How To Complete The Battle A Trainer In The Great League Task

SEASON 3! FIRST BATTLES WITH VICTINI IN POKEMON GO BATTLE ...

For players who are unable to cross the task off the list by completing a PvP battle in any of the currently available leagues, we’ll detail the process for finishing this item in the near future.

After reaching Step 3 and unlocking this task, head to the PvP section and complete any League battle to see if it satisfies the requirements.

If that doesn’t work, wait until July 12, when the Great League returns, and then come back to the PvP section and complete another trainer versus trainer battle.

It’s a pretty simple task once the Great League is actually around, so players may just need to be patient and work through some other goals while counting down the days to July 12 to progress beyond this stage. Otherwise, there’s nothing else to it. The task doesn’t require winning the battle, so players don’t even need to worry about putting together a formidable lineup if PvP isn’t their usual area of expertise.

In the coming weeks, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the rest of the Season of Discovery. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.

Tap As Fast As You Can

The Fast Attack is going to be your best friend in a battle. Tapping the screen will make your Pokémon attack the other using their Fast Attack, and it’ll power up their Charged Attack. Tapping rapidly means more damage and your Pokémon’s Charged Attack powering up faster so it can be used.

People often make the mistake of thinking damage taken is what’s powering up the Charged Attack, but it’s not.

How To Reach Legend Rank In Pokemon Go

SCRAFTY IN POKEMON GO BATTLE GREAT LEAGUE!

Season 9 of Pokemon GO’s PvP Battle League is well underway, with a legion of players taking each other head-on to be the very best in battle.

After climbing the numbered ranks in GO Battle League, Pokemon GO trainers will be tasked with achieving the final four ranks of Ace, Veteran, Expert, and Legend. Legend is the culmination of a trainer’s hard work and gives them a substantial reward to compensate for the hours of battling they had to undertake to achieve the pinnacle of PvP battle.

Don’t Use Protect Shields Right Away

Trainers get two Protect Shields to use that will nullify the opponent’s Charged Attack. Although most trainers will use these right away to block the first two Charged Attack, it’s worth considering if that’s a wise move. For example do you want to use a shield to protect a Pokémon that has one HP left from a Charged Attack, when the next Fast Attack would force it to faint anyway? Is it worth protecting your Gyrados from a Vaporeon’s Aqua Tail, that wouldn’t do too much damage anyway?

Use Tms Until Satisfied With Your Attacks

Before you even enter the battle, pick your Pokémon and use TMs over and over until satisfied with the attacks they have. For example, Tyranitar can have Crunch that’s only a 70 for power. But it can also have Stone Edge which is 100, and even Fire Blast which is a whopping 140. It’s worth cycling through the attacks if you have the TMs to do so until they have the most powerful.

How The Pokmon Go Battle League Works From Ranks To Seasons

There are many components to how the Pokémon Go Battle League works, with a number of changes being introduced in Season 6 alongside the Season of Celebration, but here it is at a glance:

  • The Pokémon Go Battle League takes place over the course of a Season, and will rotate through all three existing Leagues which cap Pokémon by their CP – the Great League , Ultra League and Master League – every two weeks. There are bonus leagues introduced in new seasons, but those three will feature in every season.
  • With the introduction of Season 6, the number of Pokémon Go Battle League Ranks were increased to Rank 1 to 24. The ranks still have a number of different progression requirements climbing from Rank 1 to Rank 20 requires you to partake and win a number of battles, while Rank 21 to Rank 24, each with it’s own unique title, requires you to reach a certain rating.
  • Your ‘battle rating’ that increases when you win and drops when you lose. Though this exists outside of the Rank system, you are required to progress past certain thresholds to progress the last four Ranks. It also gives you an additional metric to complete against once you reach Rank 24 within a Season.

Think Twice About Switching Out Your Pokmon

Strongest Great League Pokémon

If you enter a battle and your Venasaur is up against an Arcanine, it’s tempting to immediately switch out your Pokémon. But there’s a wait period after you do so before you can switch out again and chances are, if you switch out first, the other trainer will then do the same. Say you switch out for Blastoise the other trainer might then send out Raichu, and you’re stuck in the same position. Only switch out first if it’s really necessary.

How To Start A Trainer Battle In Pokmon Go

Now that the Pokémon Go Battle League is here, you might be wondering if there is any point in Trainer Battles Or maybe you still want to battle your Friends to complete Research Tasks, or just for fun. Either way Pokémon GO Trainer Battles are still an option they’ve just moved. That means you can still put together a team of your very best Pokémon and battle in person with Good or Great friends, online with Ultra or Best Friends, and any time with the Team Leaders. You can even earn rewards for completing these battles every day.

Here’s how to start.

What Makes A Pokemon Good

CP is determined by 3 things.

  • Base Stats The Attack, Defense, and Stamina values of your Pokemons species .
  • IV Values The particular additional stat points, added onto individual pokemon. Visible in-game.
  • Level Represents how trained or powered up your pokemon is. Represented by the white curve directly below the CP value. Scales to your Trainer Level +2. Caps at Level 40 . Is squared before being multiplied into CP.

If you are starting from scratch, there are a couple of aspects of Pokemon that all come together to determine if its good in PvP, and in what Tier.

  • Fast Move The first listed attack, can and should be used constantly in combat by tapping the screen to charge your Charge Moves energy.
  • Some Fast Moves have incredibly high Damage on their own, but dont charge well , some charge incredibly fast but have low Damage , and some moves are busted and have both .
  • Charge Move Stronger attacks. You can unlock a second one for a high stardust/candy price. Can be shielded, twice per game.
  • Once the move charges, you need to hit the button to activate their damage minigame. The Type of the attack will determine what the minigame is, and a pattern of bubbles will appear on the screen for a few seconds. You can see all minigames here:
    • You can save up energy above the needed amount. Critically, energy stored up is saved if your Pokemon switches! Meaning the more you pop by swiping, the higher your damage will be.

Setting Battle Parties For The Pokmon Go Battle League

Another thing you can do to prepare for your next Battle is set Parties. Pokémon Go allows you to set up multiple Parties for each League This lets you pick out specific Pokémon ahead of time. When you go to Battle in the League, your chosen Party will be there waiting for you so you won’t have to wade through your hundreds of Pokémon to find the specific Tyranitar you want to bring. This is especially useful for players who have multiple of the same type of Pokémon for different purposes.

Battles In The Pokmon Go Battle League

Battles within the Go Battle League are set up the same way as Trainer Battles and Team Leader Training Battles. You select three Pokémon and will be matched up with another Trainer at random. The Battle begins with your first Pokémon against your opponent’s first Pokémon, and until a Pokémon is sent out, neither Trainer knows what the other has brought with them. If you’re lucky, the Pokémon you’ve chosen will have a Type advantage, or at least not be weak against the other Trainer’s choice. There are definitely some Pokémon better suited for these Battles than others, but there isn’t a single Pokémon that cannot be countered, so there’s a fair bit of luck involved in winning these matches.

To learn more about which Pokémon you should focus on for the Pokémon Go Battle League, see our Pokémon Go Battle League Prep Guide.

Like other Battles within Pokémon Go, you’ll mostly be using your Fast Move until you’ve built up your Charged Move, which will involve hitting several bubbles on the screen to determine how strong it hits. Each Trainer will have two Shields they can deploy against any Charged Move, but dodging isn’t really an option like it is in Raids. Whichever Trainer’s Pokémon faint first loses. The winner will move up in Rank, as well as get an increase to their Matchmaking Rating. The loser won’t lose Rank, but in higher Ranks, you can lose points in your Rating.
