Pokemon Go Community Day: How To Evolve Eevee Into Every One Of Its Evolutions
The shiny Eevees are out in force for Pokemon GOs Eevee Community Day, giving trainers around the world a shot at that elusive prize: a full collection of all 9 Eevee family shinies. But if you want to get Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Sylveon and Eevee, youll need to make use of a couple of tricks to make it happen. Heres how to do that. Ive published some of this info before, but it never hurts to have a refresher.
The simplest way of getting a specific evolution is to just change your Pokemons nickname. Each evolution has a nickname tied to it, and you can use that to guarantee a single evolution. So if youve already used this trick on a given account, it wont work again. So while this will likely be less useful for most, here are those:
- Flareon: Pyro
- Glaceon: Rea
- Sylveon: Kira
After that, most of the evolutions have an alternate, more involved method for forcing the evolution. Here are those:
- Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon: These ones are pure RNG, so best of luck.
- Umbreon: Walk an Eevee 10km as your buddy, then evolve it at night while its still your buddy. Update: this requires no walking distance during community day, just equip as your buddy at night and evolve.
Pokemon Go Eevee Evolution Nicknames
The first, and easiest, way to evolve Eevee into its evolutions is whats known as the nickname trick. Trainers can guarantee any of Eevees evolutions in Pokemon Go once each using this Eevee nickname method.
Simply nicknaming your Eevee one of the special names will grant trainers the Eeveelution of their choice. Use 25 Eevee candy and your Eevee will evolve to the evolution with the corresponding nickname.
- Vaporeon: Rainer
- Glaceon: Rea
- Sylveon: Kira
Choose carefully trainers because once this trick is done once for each species, you wont be able to do it again.
How To Play With And Feed Your Buddy In Pokmon Go
Let’s start with the basics. To play with your Buddy in Pokémon Go, make sure you’re first Trainer Level 2 and have a Buddy assigned, then tap the Buddy icon in the lower left corner of the screen, next to your Trainer Profile.
Next, press the Play! button. Your phone camera will then activate. If you are in AR mode, you must find a flat surface. Point towards it until yellow footprints appear, then tap.
If it then says you are too close to your Buddy, back away a step or two, and it should appear.
If you’re struggling, remember you can disable AR mode in the Settings, so the Pokémon will simply appear on the screen.
With the Pokémon visible, you can play by rubbing it. You can also feed it by tapping the Berry icon.
Unlike during the catch phase where berries are simply tapped, on the Buddy screen they must be thrown like a Poké Ball to your Buddy’s mouth. You don’t lose your Berry if you miss however, so keep trying!
Once they are fully fed, they will join you on an Adventure, where they can start earning Hearts for that day…

Pokmon Go Eevee Buddy Trick: How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon Or Espeon
What Redditors on The Silph Road have discovered is that by designating an Eevee as your buddy and walking at least 10km with it before you evolve it, youll guarantee that it evolves into either the Psychic-type Espeon or the Dark-type Umbreon. If you do the trick and evolve Eevee during the day, youll get an Espeon. If you evolve Eevee during the night, youll get a Umbreon. This time-based evolution is a throwback to how you evolved those Pokémon in Pokémon Gold and Silver.
You can use the number at the bottom of the Buddy menu to track your progress. When it hits 10km or more, youll be good to go with evolving your Eevee as long as you have the 25 candies that, according to IGN, are also a requirement. Just make sure you wait until the appropriate time of day to avoid getting an Espeon when you wanted an Umbreon! What makes the Eevee buddy trick even easier is that you dont even have to walk 10km without unequipping your Eevee as your buddy. As long as youve walked 10km total with Eevee at some point youll have the chance to get an Espeon or Umbreon.
Its worth noting that without using this buddy trick, none of the Redditors on The Silph Road who tried werent able to evolve Eevee into anything other than a Jolteon, Flareon or Vaporeon. So, if you burned your Sakura/Tamao nicknames on a suboptimal Eevee, this Eevee buddy trick seems to your only way to guarantee more Espeons and Umbreons short of finding them in the wild.
Are There Shiny Eevee And Eeveelutions Can You Control Those
Like almost all other Shinies, you can only catch or hatch Eevee its Shiny form. If you want any of the Eeveelutions to be Shiny, you’ll need to evolve them the same way you evolve any Eevee. The nickname trick will work if you haven’t used it already. Otherwise, you’ll need to evolve them just like any other Eevee. The same goes for the flower crown costumed Eevee.

How To Get An Umbreon In Pokemon Go
You can get Umbreon in Pokemon GO by evolving it from Eevee. But if you just evolve your Eevee, it will turn into a random evolution.
There are 2 ways to 100% evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokemon GO. By using these methods, there is also a chance that you can get a shiny Umbreon, but the chance is really low.
Requirements To Get Umbreon
The first and most obvious requirement is needing an Eevee to actually evolve into Umbreon. Being a normal type, Eevee is relatively common and can appear anywhere. They dont have special areas they appear in like Fire or Electric types so search for Eevee wherever you like.
You will probably need to catch more than one Eevee. Having an Eevee as your buddy will only give you one Eevee Candy every 5 Kilometers leaving you with only two by the time the Eevee has walked enough to evolve. You will need to catch a couple more Eevee to gain the required 25 Eevee Candy to evolve one.

Pokemon Go Eevee Evolutions And All Name Tricks
One of the most unique Pokemon in the game is Eevee. This cute Pokemon is a bit tricky to evolve into the type you want, but luckily there are a few ways that can temporarily resolve the problem.
The eight evolutions are the following: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. There are different ways to evolve Eevee into one of its evolutions. You can use the nickname trick, by using the Buddy Pokemon evolution method, by completing a specific task, and by using Lure Modules.
Now, lets see how to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Sylveon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafon, and/or Glaceon in Pokemon Go.
How To Evolve Into Espeon And Umbreon
The first time you want to get your hands on Espeon and Umbreon, you can use the name trick detailed above. Evolve an Eeevee called Tamao to get an Umbreon, or an Eevee named Sakura to evolve it into Espeon. After that, you’ll need to evolve them the old-fashioned way, by completing certain goals.
For Espeon and Umbreon, you can also evolve into them based on their in-game method of evolution in Pokemon Gold and Silver back on the Game Boy – based on the time of day. In order to do this, you’ll first need to build a relationship with your Eevee. Set them as your buddy Pokemon and walk with them as much as you can.
Once you’ve walked 10km with that Eevee as your buddy Pokemon, it’s ready to evolve into either Epseon or Umbreon. Just evolve in the day for Espeon and night for Umbreon – and this isn’t limited, you can do it as often as you like!

- Vaporeon change Eevees name to Rainer to get Vaporeon.
- Glaceon to get Glaceon to rename Eevee to Rea.
- Espeon rename your Eevee to Sakura to make it evolve into Espeon.
- Leafeon change the name to Linnea to make it evolve into Leafeon.

Pokmon Go: Eevee Evolutions How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon Espeon Vaporeon Jolteon And Flareon With New Names
Evolving Eevee is one of the most popular Pokémon GO themes so far.
In classic Pokémon games, Eevee can evolve into different types of varieties depending on the use of special items, its level of happiness, the movements it has and even the time of day.
With the addition of Candy in Pokémon GO, the way you can evolve your Pokémon is simpler, and as such, you cannot use the trial and error method of using one of the three elemental stones to turn Eevee into Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon. (Some are better than others depending on the situation you can find out which one you should have first with our guide and with our Pokémon GO type chart to find out its strengths and weaknesses.

Pokemon Go: Methods To Obtain Umbreon
Pokemon GO trainers seeking an Umbreon won’t find it in the wild yet. At the same time, it is currently not listed as a raid boss or a research reward. That leaves players with one real option in the summer of 2021: evolving an Eevee that they have already caught.
Fortunately, Eevee is a much easier find in both the wild and in research rewards. As another prerequisite, players will need 25 Eevee candies in order to initiate the evolution.
Typically, evolving an Eevee will cause it to become a Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon randomly. In order to acquire an Umbreon, trainers will need to do one of two things:
- Players who have not used the nickname trick to acquire an Umbreon can nickname their Eevee “Tamao” before evolution. This will guarantee that an Eevee becomes an Umbreon upon evolving, but it can only be used once. Before using this trick, players should be certain that the Eevee is worth evolving into Umbreon.
- Pokemon GO trainers that can’t use the nickname trick will have to do some traveling. They will need to set their Eevee as their Buddy Pokemon and walk 10km with them. The trainer will then need to evolve their Eevee at night. This hearkens back to the mainline Pokemon series, where getting an Umbreon required an Eevee to level up with a certain happiness level at night.

How To Evolve Eevee Into Sylveon In Pokmon Go
Sylveon was finally released into Pokémon Go on May 25th, 2021 as part of the Luminous Legends Y event.
Though it can only be used once, the easiest way to evolve an Eevee into Sylveon is to change its nickname to Kira and ensure you have at least 25 Eevee Candy.
Before you press evolve, however, make sure the silhouette for Sylveon is on the evolve button – if it’s not then you’re Eevee may evolve into a different Eeveelution.
If this does occur for the you, it can be easily fixed by closing Pokémon Go and opening it again.
Once you’ve used the name trick, Eevee can be evolved into Sylveon by earning 70 Buddy hearts with it, which means your chosen Eevee needs to be at Great Buddy Level. Swapping buddies will not reset your progress towards Sylveon, so feel free to change your Buddy Pokémon freely.
You’ll also still need 25 Eevee Candy.
This evolution method is in keeping with how you must have a high friendship level with an Eevee, along with it knowing a fairy-type move, if you wish to evolve it into a Sylveon in the main-line series.
Don’t worry about Eevee evolving into Espeon or Umbreon instead, because, thanks to gamewith_pkgo from Twitter, we know Sylveon will appear as a separate evolution option, allowing you to pick the correct Eeveeultion.
You can also evolve a shiny or flower crown Eevee to earn yourself a shiny or flower crown Sylveon.
How To Get Sylveon In Pokemon Go
Sylveon, the most recent addition to the Eeveelutions, and the method to obtaining it is a bit tedious but totally worth it. Trainers can check out our Pokemon Go Sylveon guide for more in-depth details, but the gist to getting Sylveon is through the friendship meter in Pokemon Go.
Trainers need to make Eevee their buddy and earn 70 hearts with it. Again, this will take a while, but as long as trainers can maximize the amount of hearts earned each day they will eventually get to that mark. Trainers will know they received the right amount of hearts when the silhouette in the evolution area of Eevees in-game information screen shows Sylveon.

Overview Of Umbreon In Pokemon Go
Pokemon GO Umbreon base stats are:
- Attack 126
- Defense 240
- Stamina 216
Umbreon is a Dark-type evolution of Eevee in general. It has the most attack power of any Eevee evolution. Its maximum CP is 2,137.
What this Eeveelution lacks in strength, it makes up for in sheer bulk. It has excellent survivability and can help keep a gym running smoothly. It is, however, only useful in gym defence and should not be used as an attacker.

Of course it can! Evolving Flower Crown Eevee will result in an Eeveelution with the Flower Crown, making Pokemon GO Flower Crown Eevee evolutions a very real possibility.

How To Get Hearts And Increase Your Buddy Level In Pokmon Go
There are a variety of daily interactions you can perform with your Buddy, each giving you hearts. Hearts can help you unlock the ‘excited’ mood for that day, as well as help you level up their Buddy level.
You can earn up to 10 Hearts per day by performing the following activities:
