Valuable: Base 1st Edition Bulbasaur

Imagine making $20,000 on a single Pokémon card! Well if you have a 1st edition Bulbasaur in mint condition then it’s entirely possible! This famous and well-loved Pokémon has everything, rarity, popularity, and great condition meaning that this price is pretty realistic.

What really sets this card apart from others like it is that it’s ranked as a grade 10 in its condition, meaning it’s pristine. This is not an easy grade to get so having one of these is extremely valuable in itself.

Valuable: Ex Team Rocket Returns Mudkip

It’s pretty baffling how one version of Mudkip can be worth so much when the others hold so little value. As with most things though, it likely just comes down to supply and demand and there is plenty of the latter for this gold star card.

Even ungraded copies of the card have sold for as much as $750, with mint condition cards usually selling for thousands of dollars. It’s the kind of card that many collectors will have just forgotten about or assumed would be worthless, so if you have one, better get selling!

For the bigger countries like Japan, the United States, Canada and Australiait kind of got interesting.

The United States sold the most at $44,579.17 but only had an average of $66.46. This is less than the total average sold.

Japan and Australia had higher averages at $93.73 and $89.17 respectively.

Canadas average was on the lower side at $55.53. Canadians seem to be selling their cards but arent selling valuable pokemon cards.

It was also interesting to see that Canada and Australia had around the same number of items sold, but Australia had a 60% higher average than Canada.

This could mean that Australians have more valuable Pokémon cards than Canadians.

Same with Japan and the United States.

Japan had a 27% higher average cost than the United States but only had 19.62% of items sold compared to the United States which had 62% of the items sold.

“Most cards that people have will be the mass-produced ones so they wont be worth as much, but they can still be worth a lot of money as long as the cards are in good condition.

Black Triangle Error Packs

If Bob Ross taught us anything, it’s that mistakes can often be molded into magic. Case in point – the famous black triangle/1st edition packs. These are very rare and misprinted booster packs that are worth a lot of money within the Pokémon community. The error stems from the black triangle in the bottom right corner not completely covering the “1st edition” stamp. This mint condition collection of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise packs is currently selling for $3,500 on eBay.

How Much Is A Holographic Bulbasaur Pokemon Card Worth

ðµ 14 Things You NEED to Look For – Pokemon Card Value Explained!

As a starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur never received a widely circulated holographic trading card like his evolved counterpart, Venusaur. As such, a regular Bulbasaur can be bought for as little as $1.30 online. However, the original, first generation holographic Venusaur trading card from 1999 can sell in the hundreds.

In 2002, a reverse foil Bulbasaur was released as part of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Legendary Collection. That card is one of the rarest Bulbasaur cards and has fetched as much as $100 on the secondary market, however it can usually be found for about half that.

First Edition Holographic Charizard

Estimated PSA 10 Gem Mint Value: $24,000

The #4 Charizard is by far the most desirable of all the first edition Pokémon cards.

Charizard made its first appearance in the Pokémon Red and Blue video games released for the Nintendo Game Boy and Game Boy Color back in the mid-90s and trainers have been relying on the character’s overpowering fire and flying abilities to win battles ever since.

Just how powerful are its fire abilities?

Well, simply refer to the bottom of the card’s front and you can see that Charizard is capable of melting boulders and starting forest fires with ease.

Charizard’s appeal as a dragon and one of the more rare cards certainly adds to its popularity but I think where this card gets an extra boost in value comes from the fact that Charizard appeared on the cover art of the Pokémon Red video game:

That additional exposure greatly increased the character’s notoriety and has driven up the value of this card similar to the effect we see with the Garbage Pail Kids card, Adam Bomb, and its status as the original cover art for that series.

Regardless of why this card is so popular, its value will continue to soar just like the lovable flying dragon creature itself.

Shiny Bulbasaur: What You Need To Know To Catch This Elusive Pokemon

With Shiny variants of classic Pokemon being both valuable and hard to find, here’s what makes Shiny Bulbasaur special and how to obtain the rare Pokemon.

In addition to its ever expanding library of Pocket Monsters, the Pokemon franchise has also introduced variants of established creatures with their own respective sets of alterations and abilities. With color variants first debuting the idea of altered Pokemon in Pokemon Gold and Silver, Pokemon Black and White introduced the concept of Shiny Pokemon variants, denoted by the sparkly aura given off these variations in comparison to their traditional counterparts.

Just as the evolved first generation starter Pokemon Charizard received a shiny variant, so did its fellow original starter Bulbasaur, available in the popular mobile game Pokemon Go. As with the holographic cards that inspired the concept of shiny Pokemon, the shiny variants and their corresponding cards are worth quite a bit of money.

Holographic Shadowless Venusaur: $3260

Just like its Kanto starter counterpart Charizard, Venusaurs Shadowless, holographic, first edition version is a coveted card among Pokemon fans. It doesnt quite reach the heights of Charizards $500,000, but Venusaur always was slightly less popular compared to the other Kanto starters anyway.

Nonetheless, these cards were rare even in their original late-1990s heyday, so you can imagine how sought-after they are now. Buying one through Troll and Toad right now can cost you as little $390, but the compilation site Pokemon Prices has records of them selling up to $3260.

Pokemon Tcg In The News

Not Worth Much: Detective Pikachu Cards

Top 5 Bulbasaur Pokemon Card Arts

Most got hold of these when the Detective Pikachu film came out, expecting them to be worth a lot, and whilst the film itself is now the highest-rated video game movie, the cards just aren’t popular.

Selling at a wonderful average of $9.00, these cards just haven’t had the time to grow yet. Most people have one with the intention of them being worth a lot so they are extremely easy to come by. However, you can still make a little bit of money off them, it just isn’t really worth it.
