Eternatus is the legendary Pokémon that you’ll find yourself battling at the end of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Categorised as a Gigantic Pokémon, Eternatus is a dragon and poison-type Pokémon.
It’s origins are described as, ‘It was inside a meteorite that fell 20,000 years ago. There seems to be a connection between this Pokémon and the Dynamax phenomenon.’
This connection to the Dynamax phenomenon is certainly true, as you find yourself battling it in its Dynamax form.
To defeat, and capture, Eternatus, you must call upon the assistance of both Zacain and Zamazenta, fighting alongside whichever legendary is exclusive to your edition.
After a long battle, you’ll be able to add Eternatus to your Pokédex.
How Do You Get Crowned Zacian And Zamazenta
Crowned Zacian and Zamazenta can be used by giving the Pokemon their corresponding rusted item and entering battle. If Zacian has the Rusted Sword when it enters battle, it will transform into Crowned Zacian upon entering the battle. If Zamazenta has the Rusted Shield, it will become Crowned Zamazenta.
Crowned Zacian and Zamazenta are different from their regular forms in two ways.
First, both Pokemon have unique attacks that are only available while in their crowned forms. If Crowned Zacian has the move Iron Head learned, the move becomes Behemoth Blade. For Crowned Zamazenta, Iron Head becomes Behemoth Bash. Both Behemoth Blade and Behemoth Bash are steel-type moves that have 100 power and 100% accuracy.
More importantly, both Pokemon get significant stat boosts while in their crowned forms. Crowned Zacians base attack stat jumps up 40 points after transforming while its speed goes up by 10. Crowned Zamazentas base defense stats both jump up by 30, but its base speed actually drops by 10.

Zacian May Be Based On King Arthur’s Sword
Great Britain is steeped in myth and legend, and because of that, many believe that Zacian could represent King Arthur’s legendary sword, Excalibur. Even though Zacian is genderless, in Great Britain, she is portrayed as female because of the myth of the Lady of the Lake, who first entrusted Excalibur to the legendary king.
The familial ties of Zacian and Zamazenta are likely inspired by Morgan le Fay, who was widely believed to have been King Arthur’s sister. Though this hasn’t been confirmed, it wouldn’t be too surprising given the series’ long history of basing its Pokemon on myth and legend.

In The Isle of Armor, you’ll be gifted Kubfu – the fighting-type Legendary Pokémon. With careful training, you’ll be able to evolve it into Urshifu. What makes this evolution unique, however, is that Kubfu can evolve into different styles of Urshifu – Single Strike Style and Rapid Strike Style.
The Urshifu styles are differentiated by both their type and which stats they focus on. Single Strike Style Urshifu is a fighting and dark-type Pokémon, which more suited towards trainers who prefer offensive strategies. Meanwhile, the Rapid Strike Style Urshifu is a defence focused Pokémon, which is a dual fighting and water-type Pokémon.
During your adventure in The Crown Tundra, you may encounter Calyrex.
Hundreds of years ago, this Pokémon ruled over Galar as it’s king. Not much is known about this Legendary Pokémon at the moment, but one thing we do know is that it has the ability to see every past, present and future event.
The Crown Tundra surprised everyone by including two, previous unseen, legendary Pokémon – Glastrier and Spectrier.
These two legendary Pokémon are the legendary mounts of Calyrex and you’ll be able to help it regain only one during your adventures in the Crown Tundra.
Spectrier is a ghost-type Pokémon, while Glastrier is an ice-type and both have two forms – one wearing Calyrex is riding them and one without.

Can You Catch Zamazenta In Pokemon Sword
Unfortunately, its not possible to catch Zamazenta in Pokemon Sword. Once youve beaten the Pokemon League, visited the Slumbering Weald, defeated the dynamaxed Pokemon in the various gyms around the Galar region, and defeated the Royal brothers, youll then face-off against Zamazenta atop Hammerlocke Stadium.
No matter what you do during this battle, you will not be able to catch Zamazenta in Pokemon Sword. You have to defeat it. Doing so will then trigger Zacian to appear, which can be caught easily with your Master Ball.

The second form name for each is slightly different, however, along with their type.
Zacian is named the Crowned Sword when holding the Rusted Sword item and also becomes a Fairy/Steel-type. Zamazenta, on the other hand, is known as the Crowned Shield when holding the Rusted Shield and becomes a Fighting/Steel-type Pokemon.

You have to fight down your rival, Hop, in a battle. After this, two celebrities appear Shielbert and Sordward. Depending on your version, you will fight one or the other. Be careful, your Pokemon are not automatically healed or revived after your battle with your rival.
After you take them both down return to Sonias lab in Wedgehurst. She will unlock the ability to track Dynamax energy on the map. There will be a cutscene once you get to the right area, triggering a quest sequence that will take you all around the Galar region, before finally catching Zacaian or Zamazenta.
This hunt around the nation will conclude atop Hammerlocke Stadium, where you battled Eternatus earlier in the game. Your first foe here will be the opposite gameâs legendary Pokémon, so Zamazentaif you purchased Sword, and Zacian if you purchased Shield. They only exist as an obstacle for your versionâs legendary Pokémon, so feel free to defeat them.
With the rival legendary out of the picture, you can finally catch your own. If youâre having difficulty, remember Professor Magnolia gifted you a Master Ball for winning the champions cup. This is possibly the best time to use it.

Win The Champion Cup Finals Match
Whereas in previous games you could attempt to catch a legendary before the game was over, in Sword and Shield you will need to have won the Championship Match before you can attempt this final challenge.
Once you have won the Championship Match and the credits have rolled, boot the game back up. You will find yourself back at your home, where your adventure began.
After a short interlude, you will be given a Master Ball to commemorate your victory. Hang on to it, it will be best used to capture your elusive prey.

What Zacian Does In Battle
Zacian is a Legendary, so it’s automatically a beast on the battlefield. A strong Fairy move like Play Rough works great, but be sure to give it something to deal with Steel-types. Close Combat should work. Zacian can also learn many of the good biting and fang attacks, which is odd considering it holds a sword in its mouth.

Whether or not King Arthur really did inspire the lore behind Zacian and Zamazenta is a matter for debate. The origins of the pair’s names, however, are a little more straightforward. In Japan, they’re known as and which are pronounced the same way as the expressions “That Cyan” and “That Magenta” respectively.
Though perhaps not entirely obvious at first glance, these names and colors also had an impact on the duo’s color palettes. Those lucky enough to have encountered their shiny forms out in the wild will already know that shiny Zakian is a cyan color while shiny Zamazenta is magenta.

Does Zacian Need To Hold The Sword
Zacian is a legendary Pokemon and exclusive to Pokemon Sword. Introduced in generation 8, it is currently not known to evolve. However, it does have a second form activated by giving it a rusted sword to hold. Its original form, Hero of Many Battles, will then become the Fairy/Steel-type Crowned Sword.
Is Zacian Better Than Zamazenta
Zacian is considerably better than Zamazenta within Pokemon Sword and Shields competitive battling formats. Though Zamazenta has a very high base stat total and excellent defenses, its less powerful than many other legendary Pokemon and is significantly weaker than Zacian. There are three reasons for this.
First and foremost is that Zamazentas move pool doesnt really make great use of its natural bulkiness. Zamazenta lacks the staple moves of tanky Pokemon like Recover, Counter, and Mirror Coat, undermining his staying power in games despite his high defensive base stats. Theres also the glaring omission of Body Press, a move that was introduced in Gen VIII that would work perfectly for Zamazenta and is in line with his typing, but is inexplicably missing from his arsenal.
Second is Crowned Zacians particularly strong stat distribution. With 148 base speed, only Regileki, Pheromosa, Ninjask, and Shadow Rider Calyrex are naturally faster than Zacian. With 170 base attack, the only Pokemon that can punch opponents as hard as Zacian are Kartana and Black Kyurem. Zamazentas base stats add up to the same number as Zacian, but Zacians stats are consolidated in a way that makes it an offensive powerhouse.

How To Find And Catch Zacian And Zamazenta
Depending on your game, you’ll first need to subdue the other version’s legendary before getting a chance to catch yours. Meaning in Pokémon Sword, you will battle Zamazenta before being able to catch Zacian, and vice versa for Pokémon Shield.
No matter what, you can’t catch the other version’s legendary Pokémon, so don’t bother trying to. After knocking out the first one, you’ll then be allowed to catch Zacian or Zamazenta . They will both be Lv. 70. This is where it would be wise to use the Master Ball that Professor Magnolia gave you as it has a 100% catch rate, but you can also whittle down the Pokémon’s health enough and try using another type of Poké Ball. I also highly encourage saving before you initiate the battle in case you accidentally knock it out.
