A Glacial Lure works on the same basic principle as a normal lure. You put it into a Pokéstop and it attracts Pokémon to that stop for anyone that happens to be in the area. THe difference is that a glacial lure only attracts certain species of Ice and Water-type Pokémon. You can notice a stop with a glacial lure by the snowflakes by it, and you can expect to see more of these Pokémon in the area:
- Seel
- Finneon
- Snover
So if you’re missing any of these from your Pokédex, a glacial lure might help you to round things out: note that as of right now, the only way to get one of these is to buy it with Pokécoins, so it will cost you a bit, though you can earn that number of coins relatively easily from holding gyms.

Three different basic modules are available in the game:
- Ice lure module An ice decoy module that attracts Water and Ice Pokémon for 30 minutes.
- Magnetic decoy module An electronic decoy module that attracts Electric-type, Steel-type and Rock-type Pokémon for 30 minutes.
- Foam lure module A natural lure module that attracts Bug, Grass and Poison-type Pokémon for 30 minutes.
There are three advantages to using a lure:
1)When used on a PokéStop, Pokémon of that type are more likely to occur around that location.
2) Exclusive Pokémon can appear on decoys. Only one Pokémon known to exist exclusively via a Decoy is the Gen 5 Cryogonal during the December 2019 event, the Pokémon was introduced thanks to the Ice Lure. Although it appears that the Pokémon no longer occurs via decoys. Now you will only encounter Cryogonal in snowy weather.
3) Each decoy also offers special upgrades, some of which are exclusive. When using the decoy, you can access the respective pre-evolution and the Pokemon evolves as follows:
- Evolution of the magnetic lure: Magnezone and Probopass
- Evolutions de Mossy Lure: Leafeon
- Evolutions de Glacial Lure: Glaceon
Keep in mind that Leafeon and Glaceon can also use Eevees evolving names. Only you have to remember that you can only do it once by name. You can find more information in this guide.

Magnetic Lures: How To Evolve Nosepass Into Probopass / How To Evolve Magneton Into Magnezone
A couple of conditions conspire to make Magnezone and Probopass two of the easiest to miss Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Firstly, they do not appear in sequence with their pre-evolutions in the Pokédex. Secondly, they are unique in that if you look at a Magneton or Nosepass Pokémon page, theres no button hinting that they can evolve.
In fact, this evolution button will only appear when you stand near a Pokéstop with an active Magnetic Lure. Before you rush out and drop a magnetic lure, its also worth knowing that you will need 100 Magnemite and 50 Nosepass candies for each evolution we recommend saving up for both before you drop the lure.

Glaceon With The Glacial Lure
Glaceon is another Eeveelution that requires the use of a lure and is obtained by evolving Eevee within range of a Pokestop that has a Glacial Lure Module attached. It can be purchased from the shop for 200 PokeCoins.
Glaceon’s Quick moves are Frost Breath and Ice Shard . Its Charge moves are Avalance , Ice Beam , Icy Wind , and Last Resort . At Level 50, Glaceon has a Max CP of 3,535, an Attack stat of 238, a Defense stat of 205, and a Stamina stat of 163.

All The Special Lures: Evolving Leafeon And Glaceon In ‘pokmon Go’ Is Complicated

There are a bunch of new Pokémon in Pokémon GO, and four of them are weird. Leafeon, Glaceon, Probopass and Magnezone all have the same evolution mechanic: like some other creatures, you can’t just evolve them with candy. Their method is new, however: you have to get yourself a mossy lure, glacial lure or magnetic lure, plop it on a nearby Pokéstop and then stand within its range in order to complete the evolution.
On its face, this is definitely one of the more complicated evolution methods the game has given us so far. Other “special” evolutions have required a certain item or, in some cases, that you walk with your Pokémon as a buddy, but there’s a lot more going on here. The special item in question is not just an evolution power-up like a sun stone or what have you, but an entirely different item with an ostensibly different purpose. And, crucially, you don’t get them from Pokéstops, research rewards or anything like that. You just buy them in the store. Niantic has noted that these will be made available through special research soon, but that’s not the case right now. And thus we’re still dealing with a paygate of a kind, just a very strange one.
If you see a special lure active on your map, it gives you a reason to get up and check it out. Any time the game does that, it’s doing its job.
And, as always, these mechanics work a whole lot better for urban players than rural ones. That’s nothing new, however.

Goodra With The Rainy Lure
The Rainy Lure Module came to Pokemon GO in May 2021 and provides players with another way to evolve Sliggoo into the Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon, Goodra. Previously, they needed to wait until it was raining in-game to do so, but they can now obtain Goodra by feeding Sliggoo 100 Goomy Candies while in range of an active Rainy Lure Module.
Goodra’s Quick moves are Water Gun and Dragon Breath . Its Charge moves are Draco Meteor , Sludge Wave , Muddy Water , and Power Whip . At Level 50, Leafeon has a Max CP of 3,963, an Attack stat of 220, a Defense stat of 242, and a Stamina stat of 207.
