How To Get The Pokemon Sword And Shield Shiny Charm
The Pokemon Sword and Shield Shiny Charm is a simple concept; once you have it in your bag, the chance of each encounter being a shiny Pokemon is increased. Question is, how do you get the Shiny Charm? You’re going to want it before you even start shiny hunting, and it’s not easy.
To get the Shiny Charm, your first goal is to… complete the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex. Yep, you need to catch every single one of the 400 Pokemon in the game. You’ll need to do some trading to make it happen thanks to the various Pokemon Sword and Shield differences, but it needs to happen before you can get your hands on the Shiny Charm.
Once your Galar Pokedex is at 400/400, head to Circhester. Enter the west door of Hotel Ionia, go up the elevator, then enter the room on the far left. You should’ve spoken to the Director once before now in order to get the Catching Charm, but now you’ve completed the Pokedex, he’ll reward you with the Shiny Charm. Result.
Pokemon Sword And Shield Battle Tower Rewards
There is a wide range of rewards on offer at the Sword and Shield Battle Tower. The aforementioned Bottle Caps are an important item to focus on if you want to build a team that is competitive-ready, but you can also get valuable held items like the Choice Scarf, the Focus Sash, Leftovers, and many more. On top of this, you can spend your BP on special mints that change the nature of your Pokemon. For example, a Gyarados with a nature that favours Special Attack over Attack isnt ordinarily ideal. If you feed it the right mint, you can correct its nature and ensure that it prioritizes Attack at the expense of Special Attack, converting it into the physical sweeper it was always supposed to be.;
Aside from Mints, heres a list of items that you should really focus on getting. They work well with almost any team composition and are incredibly valuable to have in your possession. You can buy them at the shop in the Battle Tower itself.

All of the above items have concrete importance in the competitive circuit and are tried-and-tested components of successful teams. Its important to note that you can also use BP to purchase items in the Hammerlocke Pokemon Centre, which has unique evolution items. However, you can find the majority of these in the Wild Area, and even get some from the Digging Duo. As a result, its frankly a waste of hard-earned BP in most cases.

How To Breed Shinies In Pokemon Sword And Shield
If you’re new to shiny hunting, you’ll want to read up on the Masuda method of breeding shinies. Named after Game Freak director Junichi Masuda who implemented this method into the games from Generation IV onwards, understanding the core concept behind this is crucial if you want to increase your chance of getting shinies while breeding.
Essentially, the Masuda method is applicable when breeding two Pokemon from different language versions of the game. Any egg produced by two Pokemon originating from different languages in-game will have a higher chance of being shiny; 1/683 without the Shiny Charm, and 1/512 with it.
How do you get Pokemon of different languages? Trading, of course! As long as one of the Pokemon you’re breeding came from a version of the game with a different language to the one you’re playing on, the Masuda method will be in effect. Note that you can’t use two Pokemon of the same language, even if that language is different to the one you’re playing on.
In order to make the Masuda method most effective, the best option is to catch a Ditto in your language, then trade it for a Ditto caught in another language. Since Ditto can breed with almost every Pokemon and is the main way of breeding for eggs, once you’ve got a Ditto in a different language, you don’t have to worry about anything else. Breed the Pokemon you’ve caught with it and voila, your chances of finding a shiny through breeding will be vastly improved.

Pokemon Sword And Shield: Faster Hatching
Another key element to Pokemon;shiny hunting would be the ability Flame Body. Certain fire type Pokemon can have this ability. While in combat, this ability has the chance to burn the attackers when they are using physical attacks. Although, Flame Body has another out of combat ability. In the overworld, Flame Body lets eggs hatch half the number of required steps.;The player will need a Pokemon with Flame Body in;their party while hatching the eggs for this to work. There’s currently 7 Pokemon in;Pokemon Sword and Shield;with this ability. Those Pokemon are Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Carkol, Coalossal, Sizzilipede, and Centiscorch. Carkol is the easiest to get in this group, as players can find them spawning in the Galar Mine. Once;players have a Carkol with Flame Body, eggs will hatch much faster.
Complete Pokedex To Receive Shiny Charm
The other way to increase the odds of finding Shiny Pokemon is just as, if not more, demanding than the first tactic. Once a player has caught and registered every single Pokemon in the game they can travel to Circhester to receive the Shiny Charm from a man in the Hotel Ionia.
Having Shiny Charm increases the base odds of seeing a Shiny from 1/4096 to 1/1365. Those are still pretty slim chances, but they’re a lot higher than just hoping to randomly cross a Shiny Pokemon.

How To Claim Free Shiny Toxtricity In Pokemon Sword & Shield
- Step 1: First, Sword & Shield players need to download the Pokemon Pass app. Both the iOS and Android versions can be found here.
- Step 2:;After downloading the app, you need to sign up for a Pokemon Trainer account. You can find the account creation on their website.
- Step 3:;Go to your local GameStop on February 19th. Its not entirely clear yet whether you will need to enter the store, but so far it appears you will have to get the serial from inside the location.
- Step 4:;Scan the serial number with your Poke Pass app, which will then give you a code for Sword & Shield. Entering that in the game will net you your free Shiny Toxtricity.
At the time of writing its not entirely clear if players are expected to go into the store to get the code, or whether they will allow you to get the serial via Wi-Fi in your car. But fans wanting the Shiny mon will have to make the trek to their local GameStop regardless.

You may have heard whispers of the elusive square shinies in Pokemon Sword and Shield, so let us shed some light on the situation. In an effort to add even more longevity to Galar by Game Freak, you can now find two types of shiny Pokemon; standard and square. Standard shinies are the shiny Pokemon everyone knows and loves from previous games, while square shinies are brand new.
On paper, for every shiny encounter in the game, it has a 1/16 chance of being a square shiny instead of the standard. You’ll be able to tell whether it’s standard or square by the intro animation; the usual stars will be replaced by square outlines, but the difference in colour palette is still the same. Don’t worry, square shinies aren’t a different shade!
It’s not quite as simple as that however. If you follow the chaining method explained above by catching or defeating 25 of the same Pokemon in a row, those 1/16 odds will be flipped. Instead, you’ll have 15/16 odds of finding a square shiny, and just 1/16 of the shiny being standard.

The Impact Of Gym Badges
You’ll gradually gain access to more and more of the WildArea as you progress in your adventure, so it’s best to revisit it as youcomplete major objectives. Plus, if you wander too far in your first trip tothe Wild Area, you’ll definitely find some Pokémon so powerful that you don’thave good odds of defeating them!
Until you have all eight Gym Badges, there’ll be a cap onhow many Exp. Points very high-level wild Pokémon can give. For instance, ifyou have only two Gym Badges, any opposing Pokémon over Lv. 35 will give Exp.Points as though it were a Lv. 35 Pokémon. You’ll also need to collect Gym Badgesto trigger higher-level Max Raid Battles, with the five-star level onlybecoming available after you’ve obtained the Dragon Badge.
The weather you experience in the Wild Area will also berestricted early in your journey. You won’t see blizzards or sandstorms untilyou’ve reached Hammerlocke, and you won’t see fog until you’ve become Champion.
Having more Gym Badges may also impact which items youreceive from other features in the Wild Area. For example, there are hikers whowill give you items in return for 100 Watts. The quality of these items willincrease a little once you have two Gym Badgesand again once you becomeChampion.
You’ll also need to become Champion before certain largerPokémon appear wandering around outside of the tall grass in the Wild Area.Finally, you’ll receive far more Watts from Pokémon Dens after you’ve becomeChampion.
Basic Odds Of Getting Shiny Pokemon
The basic odds of getting a Shiny Pokemon is 1/4096, which makes it quite hard, especially if without using a method to increase the odds. So, let’s increase the odds by hunting Shiny Legendary Pokemon in the Dynamax Adventures.
Get Shiny Pokemon from Dynamax Adventures
There are some reports that you can get Shiny Pokemon from Dynamax Adventures, which is available in the Crown Tundra DLC. However, there’s no clue which of the Pokemon you have caught is the Shiny one.
You will only know which Pokemon are Shiny at the end of each Dynamax Adventure when the Pokemon Selection screen appears. So, makes sure to catch all the Pokemon you will encounter for a higher chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon.
You can also get Shiny Pokemon from Legendary Pokemon and Ultra Beast that appears in the innermost part of the Dynamax Adventure. So, carefully select the Pokemon that you will take home.

How To Catch Shiny Pokmon
To increase your odds of running into Shiny Pokémon, there are two things you have to remember: how many of that specific Pokémon you have battled and how many you currently have in a Catch Combo.
Catch Combos are how many of the same Pokémon youve caught in a row. If you are hunting for a Shiny Caterpie, you should go to where Caterpie spawn and catch as many in a row as you can. Run from other Pokémon you may run into, and focus on catching Caterpie. Catch Combos stop adding to your Shiny chance after you catch 25, but doing this dramatically increases your Shiny chance from 1/4096 to 1/2048, according to Serebii.net.
Battle Count also is important. The more Pokémon of the specific species you have battled, the higher your chance of finding a Shiny will be. After battling over 100 of one species of Pokémon, your chances to find a Shiny increase by 2.5% when paired with Catch Combos. Continuing to battle up to 500 Pokémon further increases your chance of finding a Shiny. You can check how many Pokémon youve battled using your Pokédex.
The last important thing to boost your Shiny chance is the Shiny Charm. You can only get this item from the Game Freak Game Director after completing the Pokédex. You can find him in Hotel Ionia in Circhester.
Using all three of these techniques can give you an approximately 1/455 chance of finding a Shiny, which is way better than the original Shiny rate.
