Pokemon Expansion Pass Refunds
According to Nintendos Support page, the company is unable to provide refunds or exchanges for mistaken purchases. This meant that those that had mistakenly dropped their cash on the wrong DLC version were out of luck until now.
On June 20, the official Twitter account for Nintendo of America appeared to have recognized the severity of the issue, and tweeted out a support link for players. Please ensure you select the one that corresponds with the version of the game you own. If you mistakenly purchased the incorrect pass, please contact customer support.

How Much Is The Pokmon Sword And Pokmon Shield Expansion Pass
The expansion pass is £26.99 and you can pre-order it now, which will grant you some exclusive free Pikachu and Eevee uniforms straight away. But youll have to wait till the end of June for the first part of the main DLC to be released and autumn for the other one.
The Isle Of Armor is based on the Isle of Man and features a dojo to train at where youll have new rival apprentices .
Theres also a new pokémon called Kybfu that evolves into Urshifu, which has two different fighting styles and a Gigantamax form. The final forms of the starter pokémon Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon will also get Gigantamax forms for the first time.
The Crown Tundra is based on Scotland and revolves around a new legendary called Calyrex. Itll also feature a new co-op mode where you get to explore pokémon dens from Max Raid Battles and battle and capture new and old legendaries from all the past games.
Between the two new areas over 200 old school pokémon will be reintroduced into the game, as well as over 100 new clothing items and customsiation options for things like your bike.
It all seems pretty good value for money and preferable to the directors cuts of previous generations because youll be able to keep the same save data from the existing game, rather than start everything again from scratch.

How The Expansions Work
Both expansions are open areas similar to the Wild Area which include Pokemon Dens and Max Raid Battles, but have new characters and storylines. They can be accessed as soon as you reach the Wild Area, regardless of whether you have beaten the main story or not. However, each expansion area has additional end-game content. There are also additional cosmetic options and clothing introduced in each expansion.
You can access a free sneak-peek at the expansion pass content in the base game by going to Wedgehurst Station and speaking to the new trainer there – Klara in Sword or Avery in Shield.
Do I Need To Have Finished The Main Game To Access The Expansion Pass Content
No, you can access the new content as soon as you reach the game’s Wild Area.
Initial reports that the Expansion Pass features ‘level scaling’ that matches its difficulty to the Pokémon in your party were slightly inaccurate – it appears that the content scales to the Gym Badges you’ve earned rather than the level of your Pokémon party.

The Crown Tundra Is Available To Download Now
ByChris Martin, Reviews Editor| 22 Oct 2020
Pokémon Sword and Shield’s DLC is finally here, with both parts now available to download. Heres what you need to know about the Expansion Pass – including the price and all the new content it brings.
You can watch the official Expansion Pass trailer above and we’ve got all the details for the DLC below.
Worth It: Companion Feature
A highly fan-requested feature was added as part of the new Isle of Armor content, with players being able to have their first-party Pokémon follow them around as a companion. You can do this once you reach a certain point of the story content.
This feature is a throwback to Pokémon Yellow, which first introduced this mechanic, and it was also more recently used in the Pokémon Let’s Go!games. Regrettably, despite being able to see other players when you are online, you are unable to see their accompanying Pokémon.

Expansion Pass Cost And Release Date
The Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass is available to purchase now for $29.99 – this pass will grant you access to both The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra on release. The Expansion Pass for Sword and the Expansion Pass for Shield are separate however. If you want the Expansion Pass for both versions, you will need to buy for both.
The first expansion will release by the end of June, 2020 and the second expansion will release Fall 2020.
You Can Teach Certain Pokmon To Gigantamax
One of the frustrating things for me while playing the base Sword and Shield games was realizing that one of my favorite Pokémon couldn’t Gigantamax even though its species had the potential to do so.
The Isle of Armor solves this problem. Feeding Max Soup to a Pokémon with G-Max potential makes it learn how to G-Max. The DLC’s main story that surrounds Kubfu and Urshifu basically serves as a massive tutorial to teach you how to create Max Soup and feed it to your other Pokémon from the Galar region who also have the potential to Gigantamax.

Worth It: Bike Upgrade
As the go-to means for getting around in your Galar Pokémon adventure, fans were delighted to receive an upgrade for their Rotom Bikes in the Isle of Armor. This upgrade maximizes your speed and gives you square shinies graphics as you ride.
The speed upgrade comes in particularly handy for your second trial at the Master Dojo where you have to chase down some Pokémon. Additionally, you also get a new, cooler look for your Rotom Bike, with your helmet looking more like a motor-cross helmet now.
Worth It: Interesting New Area
The Isle of Armorarea is undoubtedly a brilliant new addition to the game, with many small islands to explore and beautiful landscapes for players to adventure in. Nintendo definitely delivered on visual aesthetics here.
The other great thing about this new area is that it has new features, such as new behavior for certain Pokémon that inhabit the area. For example, any players who have explored the Isle of Armor would have encountered the speeding bullet-like Sharpedos in the waters of the Workout Sea.

Content And Features In Pokemon Sword And Shields Expansion Pass
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shields Expansion Pass contains two sets of content that ties to the story that took place in the Galar Region. The first set features the first new area, The Isle of Armor, and the second set features the second newest area, The Crown Tundra. You can learn more about the expansion passs plan through its roadmap below:
Also, you will be able to travel to the two newest areas almost at any point in the main story once you have paid and updated your version of the game. Same with how you obtain Galarian Slowpoke, youll need to visit Wedgehurst station to travel in the two newest areas.
Klara And Avery Are Better Rivals Than Hop
Klara and Avery offer more of a challenge as rivals than Hop ever did.
Within the original games, Hop is designated as your rival friend and leads you through a tutorial throughout your Galar-region journey. However, in the Expansion Pass, players encounter a new rival at the Isle of Armor. Those playing Sword meet Klara, a Poison-type trainer who dreams of becoming a gym leader. Shield players meet Avery, a Psychic-type trainer who also aspires to become a gym leader.
Hop was always a lackluster rival in the base game. He’s obviously weaker than you, so your battles never feel impactful. Meanwhile, these new rivals are mean. They cheat and do everything they can to push the player away from victory. Plus, they’re actually competent during battle, unlike Hop. As you make your way through the Isle of Armor, they inadvertently explain to the player exactly what you need to do in order to progress throughout the DLC. This way, it doesn’t feel like a massive tutorial that’s talking down to you the whole time.

How Many New Pokemon Are In The Expansion
See every new and returning Pokemon revealed for the expansion pass so far in the slideshow below.
They both add old Pokemon otherwise unavailable via the original Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex. In total, these expansions will add 200+ Pokemon from previous games to Pokemon Sword and Shield, along with at least five brand new Legendary Pokemon and other new Pokemon, like Galarian Slowpoke .
Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass Cost And How Each Version Works Explained
The Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion pass will cost £26.99 / $29.99.
This cost will include both expansion passes – The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.
It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got Pokémon Sword or Shield – you’ll be able to play both of expansions.
What you do need to do, however, is buy the expansion version that is compatible with the game, Sword or Shield, that you originally brought.
This is because, just like with previous Pokémon games, each expansion will have a set of Pokémon which are exclusive to the version, be it Sword or Shield, that they’re compatible with.
If you buy the wrong expansion version, then you won’t be able to play it! So be careful when you purchase the expansions.
Currently, there are two pre-order bonuses to entice you into buying the Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion pass – a Pikachu Uniform and an Eevee Uniform.
You’ll also receive Leon’s cap and tights if you purchase the Expansion Pass between the release date of The Isle of Armour and the 31st August.
