The first thing a player should do before setting out to complete their Pokédex is to load up on Quick Balls. This will make catching wild Pokémon six times easier on the first turn of every battle and will make actually obtaining Pokémon much faster. Quick Balls can be purchased in Wyndon in bulk. The vast majority of Pokémon players added to their Pokédex will be obtained through a catch, rather than by breeding or trading. Today we have some interesting news about the Pokemon Sword and Shield Galar Dex.

As you all know, not all Pokemon are going to make it into Pokemon Sword and Shield. While Game Freak has remain tight lipped on which Pokemon have been cut from the games, the official Galar Region Pokedex guidebook has given us a clue.

, the official Galar Region Pokedex guidebook has 448 pages, about 58% the number of pages the official National Dex guidebook has . As each page contains descriptions for 1 2 Pokemon and Mega Evolutions arent included in the upcoming games, this means the Galar Region Pokedex will be home to at least 500 Pokemon.

Assuming the National Dex consists of 900 Pokemon by the time Pokemon Sword and Shield launches this year, that would mean 45% of all other Pokemon will not appear in the games.

Next, we consider the typing. Once again we have two charts. The first gives the number of each. Water-types dominate however, it is the most represented type of the National Dex! When you divide by the National Dex count for each type, Water-types are actually under par, when you look at the ratio . Galar has a lot of Ghost types, as well as Ice, Dark and Fairy. Galar lacks in Normal types, as well as Fire and Flying types.
