Talk to a man and depending on which version the player has, he will provide the player with a fossil. The Fossilized Bird in Pokemon Sword and the Fossilized Drake in Pokemon Shield. The second method comes from the Wild Area. Head towards the Bridge Field zone of the Wild Area and locate two brothers standing next to each other. The brother on the left will offer to dig for items for watts. He will randomly then start to dig up items, some of which can be one of the four fossils. While none of the fossils themselves are version exclusive, the likeliness of getting the fossils are increased depending on which version players have. The Bird and Dino fossils are easier to get in Pokemon Sword while the Drake and Fish Fossils are easier to get in Pokemon Shield. Once players have at least two fossils, they can bring them together to create one of the fossil Pokemon.

What Is Fossil Pokmon In Pokmon Sword And Shield

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, collecting fossil Pokémon requires a more unusual method than in previous games. First, you need to acquire fossils, which are most readily available at Bridge Field in the wild area, but can be acquired in several ways.

There are four types of fossil in Pokémon Sword and Shield:

  • Fossilized Bird
  • Fossilized Drake
  • Fossilized Fish
  • To resurrect these fossils, youll need to take two different fossils to the Pokémon Researcher on Route 6. There, shell use a special machine to combine the two fossils into one of the following Pokémon: Arctozolt, Dracozolt, Arctovish, or Dracovish.

Pokemon Sword And Shield Fossils: Fossil Combos To Get All 4 Fossil Pokemon

Every new generation introduces some new Fossil Pokemon, and Pokemon Sword and Shield are of course sticking to the tradition – though getting your hands on the Fossil Pokemon the Galar Region is a little different to every region before it. Here’s how it all works…

Across Pokemon Sword and Shield there are four different Fossils. They are as follows:

    • Fossilized Drake: Naturally found in Shield, Dragon-type Fossil
    • Fossilized Fish: Naturally found in Shield, Water-type Fossil
    • Fossilized Bird: Naturally found in Sword, Ice-type Fossil
    • Fozzilized Dino: Naturally found in Sword, Electric-type Fossil

Now, this doesn’t mean that there are four Fossil Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, one developed from each fossil – oh no. Instead, the Galar Region’s fossil expert scientist is actually performing some experiments that we have to say seem pretty ethically dicey – she splices fossils together and then revives them in order to create a Pokemon. Each fossil combo creates a different Pokemon species. To be honest, none of them look quite right.

Where past Fossil Pokemon have looked more specifically like real-life extinct creatures, the ones in Pokemon Sword and Shield look like strange hybrids, which is at once cool and a little unsettling. They’re some of the most unique designs among the new Pokemon in Sword & Shield. Sadly, none of them have Gigantimax Forms. Cara Liss, the fossil scientist, is a veritable Frankenstein.
