Instead of a third version, Pokemon Sword and Shield has expansions. So far, we know of The Isle of Armor Expansion and The Crown Tundra Expansion. Will Brilliant Diamond Have Mega Evolutions
There has been no announcement regarding the inclusion of Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. The original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games did not feature Mega Evolutions, but neither did Pokemon Yellow yet its remakes Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee! had Mega Evolutions as a feature.
Expansion Pass Cost And Release Date
The Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass is available to purchase now for $29.99 – this pass will grant you access to both The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra on release. The Expansion Pass for Sword and the Expansion Pass for Shield are separate however. If you want the Expansion Pass for both versions, you will need to buy for both.
The first expansion will release by the end of June, 2020 and the second expansion will release Fall 2020.

What New Features Are Included In The Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Passes
Each expansion will bring different new Pokémon, areas, features, items and moves that weren’t previously available in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The information below comes from the official Pokémon Sword and Shield website:

Here’s a brief overview of the features:
- The new expansions will feature over 100 new items of clothing between them.
- In The Isle of Armor, you’ll be able to find an Exp. Charm which is used to level up Pokémon.
- Brand new tutor moves will feature in The Isle of Armor expansion
- Restricted Sparring will enable Trainers Battles with Pokémon Type limitations and set Battle conditions.
- Explorable Pokémon Dens in The Crown Tundra will be home to Legendary Pokémon from previous Pokémon games.
- Players’ Galar Pokédexes will be updated to reflect the new additions – both the Isle of Armor, and the Crown Tundra will also have their own Pokédexes.
- Both the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra will feature Pokémon Dens just like in the Wild Area in the main game, although they’ll feature Pokémon you won’t find in the Wild Area. Max Raid Battles will be available in the ones emitting a shard of red light enabling a team of up to three players to battle a Dynamax Pokémon.

When Is Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Released
The Pokémon Sword and Shield Isle of Armor DLC expansion will be released on June 17th.
Know that you must buy the expansion pass for the specific title you own. This basically means that you must buy the Sword or Shield expansion depending on which Pokémon version you have played through.
Either way the package costs £26.99, or you can purchase a bundle for £76.98 if you havent previously owned or played the main game.
While the Isle of Armor DLC is scheduled to come out on the aforementioned date, know that the Crown Tundra doesnt have a concrete release date. As of now it is currently scheduled for Fall 2020.

The DLC is sold separately for Sword and Shield version. If you bought the DLC version for the wrong base game, you will not be able to play the new content!
Different Pokemon & Rival Between Version
Some Pokemon or rivals may be different between Shield and Sword. If you own both versions, consider buying both DLC for the full experience.

Pokemon Sword And Shield Expansion Passes Revealed: A Breakdown Of The Isle Of Armor And The Crown Tundra
During the latest Nintendo Direct, two new Pokemon Sword and Shield expansions were revealed. The Isle of Armor will be coming out in June 2020 and The Crown Tundra will be coming out Fall of 2020. Fans can buy both with an Expansion Pass on the Nintendo Store for $29.99. Along with this came plenty of reveals for new content so buckle-up.
How Much Does The Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass Cost
Parts 1 and 2 of the Expansion Pass are purchased together for £26.99 / $29.99.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to purchase the corresponding pass according to which copy of the game you own. If you own both games and want to access the new areas in both, that means buying both the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and the Pokémon Shield Expansion pass.
The safest way to ensure you get the correct one is to buy it through the in-game menus while playing your copy, but be careful to purchase the correct Expansion if you’re getting it through the eShop directly – Nintendo doesn’t appear to be issuing refunds if you buy the wrong one.
Those who pre-purchased before the Pass arrived received an early purchase bonus of a Pikachu uniform and an Eevee uniform . If you bought the Expansion Pass before 31st August you could receive Leon’s outfit as a bonus.
The Nintendo UK Official Store has a deal on the Expansion Pass which includes a 50% discount on starter Pokémon soft toys or a starter mug if you purchase them at the same time.

The Pokémon Sword and Shield Isle Of Armor DLC release date has been revealed.
Japans Pokémon YouTube channel has posted a new trailer of the Sword and Shield Isle Of Armor DLC with a release date of June 17th.
Although it doesnt come out until the aforementioned date, you can prematurely buy it as well as The Crown Tundra for £26.99 from the Nintendo eShop.
The Crown Tundra isnt planned to come out until sometime in the Fall.

Do I Need To Buy The Expansion Pass To Access The 200+ Returning Pokmon From Past Generations
No, not necessarily. Following a free update that will launch alongside the Expansion Passes, players of vanilla Pokémon Sword or Shield will be able to trade those Pokémon with players who have purchased the expansion and caught them all. Therefore, it will be entirely possible to get your hands on those new Pokémon via trading.
Players without the expansion will also be able to bring Pokémon over from past games using Pokémon Home, the service which launched in February 2020 .

The new Hearthstone expansion, United in Stormwind, is just right around the corner. Debuting in just under a couple of weeks on August 3, Blizzards classic card game adds another surplus of new Alliance-themed cards featuring some new and exciting twists along the way. With so much new content coming on the heels of the popular Forged in the Barrens set, fans have much to be excited about for this new Hearthstone expansion.
Year of the Gryphon Continues
This is the second set in the Year of the Gryphon, following Forged in the Barrens and is currently available for pre-purchase. As the website points out, this set brings new things to the card table, including all new questlines, cards that can be traded for random ones in a players deck, and new weapons called Profession Tools that supposedly have special abilities linked to them. These will do things outside of attacking, which is sure to give classes who do not normally benefit from weapons something to get value out of.
135 New Cards
Reportedly 135 new cards will be steadily released by Blizzard until the release date of August 3, giving players ample time to begin crafting strategies and making their best guess as to what the meta will shape into. New Features And Items
A handful of new features and items are coming as part of the Crown Tundra expansion, including a new co-op mode called Dynamax Adventures, wherein you and up to three other players can explore Pokemon dens together. You can read more about some of the announced new features and items below.
Dynamax Adventures
One of the headlining new features in The Crown Tundra is Dynamax Adventures, a co-op mode in which a team of four trainers sets off to explore Max Raid dens. Each player will choose a team of rental Pokemon to bring with them before the expedition begins. As the squad delves deeper into the den, you’ll need to choose which branching pathways to take and battle any Dynamax Pokemon you encounter along the way.
Galarian Star Tournament
After you’ve reached a certain point in The Crown Tundra’s story, you’ll be able to participate in the Galarian Star Tournament, a new 2v2 competition featuring all the Gym Leaders and other major NPCs from the main game and expansions. You’ll choose an AI partner when you enter the tournament and face off against a series of other teams in two-on-two Multi Battles.
Ability Patch
One of the most exciting new items being introduced in The Crown Tundra is the Ability Patch, which lets you change a Pokemon’s Ability to its Hidden Ability. Given how rare it typically is to find a Pokemon with its Hidden Ability, this is a very helpful addition to the series, but The Pokemon Company teases that the Ability Patch will be “hard to come by.”
When Is The Isle Of Armor Release Date
Pokemon Sword and Shield’s expansion pass will launch on the 17th June 2020.
The expansion pass will launch with The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra will arrive later in Autumn 2020.
Most legendary Pokemon that are available in The Crown Tundra will be obtained through co-op play.
Kubfu/Urshifu
In the Isle of Armor, your new mentor Mustard will intrust Kubfu to you. Kubfu is a fighting type Pokemon that evolves into Urshifu.
Once you have Kubfu, you will take on the Towers of Two Fists. You will enter either the Tower of Darkness or the Tower of Water .
Kubfu must face this challenge alone and once it has conquered one, it will evolve into Urshifu.
Urshifu has two distinct styles and will learn one depending on which tower you take on:
- Single-strike style – a Fighting and Dark-type style that delivers a single strike at lightning speed
- Rapid-strike style – a Fighting and Water-type style that focuses on unleashing a torrent of rapid strikes.
He also has a Giganatamax form with a brand new ability and a new move for each of its two styles.
Zarude
Zarude is a genderless rogue monkey Pokemon – a Dark/Grass Pokemon.
Zarude is set to feature in the 23rd Pokemon movie and its currently unknown when or how it will feature in the games could it appear in the expansion pass?

How Many New Pokemon Are In The Expansion

They both add old Pokemon otherwise unavailable via the original Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex. In total, these expansions will add 200+ Pokemon from previous games to Pokemon Sword and Shield, along with at least five brand new Legendary Pokemon and other new Pokemon, like Galarian Slowpoke .
