Do Shiny Pokemon Spawn In Mass Outbreaks
Yes, and at a much higher rate. The base Shiny spawn during a Mass Outbreak is 1 in 158, and thats before calculating other factors such as research and the Shiny Charm. The trouble is that Mass Outbreaks are random, and theres no telling which Pokemon might suddenly show up in one of the regions. Even if a Shiny doesnt show up during the Outbreak, its a good chance to complete research tasks.
You’ll need extra patience for some of Pokemon Legends Arceus‘ more elusive critters, such as Cherrim. Others, including Hisuian Growlithe, spawn in limited but fixed locations and should be easier to complete research tasks for. Make sure to keep an eye on new Mystery Gift codes as they become available as well. Even if you don’t get a Shiny Pokemon out of it, you’ll still nab some fancy outfits.
Shiny Locked Pokmon In Pokmon Legends: Arceus
Shiny locked Pokémon refers to the Pokémon who’s shiny forms are impossible to obtain in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
All of the Pokémon you obtain through static encounters are shiny locked this includes the Alpha Pokémon you encounter as part of the main campaign, along with all the legendary and mythical Pokémon. If you do want a shiny legendary or mythical, like a shiny Cresselia, you’ll need to use hacks.
You can, however, obtain shiny forms of the starter Pokémon by hunting them down in Space-time Distortions. Meanwhile, if you want a shiny Unown, you first need to complete the Unown Research Notes by hunting down all 28 Unown locations across the Hisui region.

What Are Mass Outbreaks
Mass Outbreaks are a special event on the map that has specific species of Pokémon spawn constantly in a set area for a specific amount of time, giving a different kind of boost for Shiny hunting.
Mass Outbreaks provide an additional boost of 25 to any odds, meaning that it adds 25 to the roll count, making base Shiny odds 1 in 158.02, and getting as low as 1 in 128.49 with all of the other boosts combined.
It’s safe to say that Shiny Hunters will have their hands full in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While the game makes for better odds than ever in the series to see Shiny Pokémon, it also means there’s plenty of hunting to get to and ways to optimize your search.
What Are The Odds Of Encountering A Shiny Pokemon In Legends Arceus
Like in other games, the odds of encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild is 1 in 4096. Thats way below 1 percent . While that might be very offputting, you can actually increase these odds in a few ways.
If you hit Research Level 10 with a particular Pokemon, you can increase the odds of finding a shiny variant of that mon in the wild by 1. This bumps it up to a whopping 2 out of 4096 chance (0.048% chance. The odds are still low, but definitely higher.
Next, you can further increase your chance if you achieve a Perfect for a specific Pokemons research level. This can be obtained by hitting every research level and maxing it out, including those that arent indicated in red. Doing this will increase your chances of encountering that particular Pokemon up by 2, now putting you at a 4 in 4096 chance .
If you go above and beyond and hit Research Level 10 for every Pokemon on the Dex, you can earn the Shiny Charm, an item that boosts your chances of encountering a shiny by 3 points.
Finally, Mass Outbreaks are a way that heavily increases your chances by 25 points. Do the math accordingly. The basis of probability always starts at 1/4096. Your formula should be:
1 + / 4096
Research 10 = 1
Shiny Charm = 3
Mass Outbreak = 25
Only add variables that are applicable for a specific Pokemon. If you somehow managed to have everything maxed out, your maximum chance of encountering a shiny in the wild would be a 32 out of 4096 chance, giving you a 0.78% chance.

Pokmon Legends: Arceus’ Shiny Hunting Is Different Than In Past Games
Shiny hunting was first introduced in Gen 2 of the Pokémon series with Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Brilliant Aura hunting, which was introduced in Galar alongside Max Raid Dens, is both frustratingly difficult and poorly understood due to a lack of information on the method provided in the games. Thankfully Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ Shiny hunting methods are better than Sword and Shield‘s, making the effort much more enjoyable for players.

The old shiny hunting method no longer works after updating the game to version 1.1.0. This method will still work, however, if you have not updated your game yet!
