Evolution Gigantamax And Battle Tactics

How to get Bulbasaur Charmander and Squirtle in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Bulbasaur’s evolution occurs naturally, the same way it has since the series’ origins. Simply train Bulbasaur to level 16, then Ivysaur to level 36 to evolve it into Venusaur. If it’s the Bulbasaur from the Master Dojo, it’s final form will be able to Gigantamax which includes a unique set of superpowered moves.

Dynamax & Gigantamax Moves

It’s tactful to stack Venusaur’s move-set with normal and grass-type moves because they translate into Dynamax and Gigantamax Venusaur’s strongest Max moves. Normal-type moves turn into Max Strike, which hits with both a physical and special damage power of 150. Upon dynamaxing, Venusaur’s grass-type moves become Max Overgrowth, which deals a value of 140 physical damage and 150 special damage, along with turning the battlefield to grassy terrain for five turns. With a Gigantamax Venusaur, grass-type moves become G-Max Vine Lash, which deals the same damage value as Max Overgrowth, but also persists for the next four turns.

The Isle of Armor is available now on the Nintendo Switch for $29.99.

How To Access Charmander

Just to be upfront, its not likely that players will be able to get their hands on Charmander during the gamesmain story. While its possible to encounter Charmander and its evolution line as boss Pokemon in Max Raid battles, the chances of that happening are very slim.

Theres only one surefire way to unlock Charmander, and thats by completing Pokemon Sword and Shield and defeating the Galar Pokemon League champion, Leon. As the final boss of the games story, Leon sports a stacked team of Pokemon consisting of Aegislash , Dragapult , Haxorus , Mr. Rime , Inteleon , and Charizard , and all of them are level 64 or higher. He wont be easy to beat, in short.

It Takes A Few Seconds And Stacks

All has been quiet on the Pokemon front as we wait for the new set of remakes and Legends, but for now, you can snag some classic generation one creatures through a very easy to navigate Pokemon Home promo .

In honor of Pokemon Homes 1.4.0 edition, you can get a free Gigantamax Squirtle and Gigantamax Bulbasaur. Just log in, go to the gift section, and theyll literally be waiting there on a list. To redeem them, just tap them and theyll go in a box. Make sure that you have the space if youre not premium anymore. But you can also avoid all of that entirely.

So I saw all of that by logging into Pokemon Home, but thanks to this Reddit post from Expert-Leopard-3730, we also know that the promo does not require Home at all. Instead, if you log into Pokemon Sword and Shield, you can grab both of them through the mystery gift -> get through internet menu. Also, like many other promos, this works for Sword and Shield, so if you own both games you can do it twice. Or three times, with Home.

Heres the Squirtle:

How to Get Bulbasaur and Squirtle in Pokemon Sword and Shield

You might not see Bulbasaur or Squirtle in the actual game any time soon.

Fans who were scared that Charmander was going to be the only Kanto starter available in Pokémon Sword and Shield can rest easy now that both Bulbasaur and Squirtle have been confirmed for the Galarian Pokédex.

But they arent in the standard Pokédex or included in any of the promotional material. So where exactly are the original Grass and Water-type starters?

At time of writing, the answer is in limbo.

So I heard Bulbasaur and Squirtle had data in the game despite being potentially unobtainable, so I decided to test if they worked, and sure enough they do#SWSHLeak

DeathChaos

There are fully-functional collections of data for both Bulbasaur and Squirtle in Sword and Shield, including movesets, animations, and more, but theyre unobtainable right now. They allegedly wont be available through normal means, according to the data miners who initially found the locked data.

This could mean that the starters will be used as event Pokémonin the near future or that theyll be featured in some of the Max Raid Battles that will have trainers working together, similar to Pokémon Go, to catch special Pokémon. This idea is also supported by the fact the Alola region startersRowlet, Litten, and Popplioare in the extra 35 Pokémon that werediscovered.

Proof that Bulbasaur is in the game code, not sure if its via event only though.#PokemonSwordShieldleaks#SWSHLeak#Pokemonleaks

Pokmon Sword And Shield: How To Get Bulbasaur And Squirtle

We’ve known since the launch of Sword and Shield that the coding for Bulbasaur and Squirtle was included in the games. However, it wasn’t until the first half of the Expansion Pass released that we were actually able to acquire them within the game. After reaching a certain point in the DLC, those who play the Isle of Armor Expansion Pass will be able to choose between obtaining a Squirtle or a Bulbasaur.

Thing is, if you want to have both of them in your party, you might need to rely on using Pokémon HOME to transport one of them in from another game. Of course you must have them stored in another game in order for this to work. Here’s how to get Bulbasaur and Squirtle in the Isle of Armor as well as how to transfer Bulbasaur and Squirtle into Pokémon Sword and Shield from Pokémon HOME.

Migrate Squirtle From The Pokemon Bank

Chances are that trainers who have been playing for multiple generations have caught Squirtle in a previous game. Whether they chose it as their starting companion or acquired it through other means, theres a chance to bring it over to Pokemon Home. To initiate this transfer, the Squirtle must be in the Pokemon Bank, which is only compatible with 3DS titles: X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon. With a 3DS and Switch on hand, trainers need to follow the instructions on both devices to move Squirtle from the Bank to Home and then to Pokemon Swordor Shield. This method, however, does require a premium subscription to Pokemon Home.

How To Get Charmander In Pokmon Sword And Shield

If you want to get your hands on the fire-starter Charmander youll need to defeat Leon and become champion of the Galar region.

Once youve done that, youll wake up back home in Postwick. Head on over to your rival Hops house across the road. When you enter, go up the stairs and head right into Hops room. There, a Poké Ball will be waiting on the floor with a note from Leon, saying its a gift for you.

If you pick it up, youll get the fiery Charmander all for yourself!

Learned Moves & Move Tutors

I GOT BULBASAUR INTO POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD: Pokemon Sword Playthrough Part 1

Petal Blizzard and Solar Beam are both among Venusaur’s potent learned moves. Still, trainers could build an extremely devastating move set by taking their Pokémon to the Move Tutors both in the base game and The Isle of Armor expansion.

Sword & Shield‘s Move Tutor can teach Venusaur Frenzy Plant, which hits with a special value of 150, incapacitating the user on its next turn. Venusaur can also learn Grass Pledge here, which increases its power when paired with the water-type equivalent.

The Isle of Armor Move Tutor can teach Venusaur the normal-type move Terrain Pulse, which fluctuates in power depending on the current terrain. The Isle’s Move Tutor also offers Grassy Glide, which will always allow a first strike on grassy terrain.

Where To Get Squirtle In Pokemon: Lets Go

Squirtle appears in Cerulean City initially and is seen causing Officer Jenny all kinds of problems. Later on, this pesky ‘mon will appear in Vermillion City, where Officer Jenny will gladly offload it to you if you’ve caught 60 Pokémon

All three of these monsters spawn in the wild too, but it’s much easier to get them using the guide above, especially once you’ve bagged a few beasts and have unlocked fast travel with the ‘Sky Dash’ technique.

Where To Find Bulbasaur And Squirtle

To get hold of Bulbasaur or Squirtle youll need to follow the storyline. Firstly, youll need to visit the Master Dojo and battle your newest rival.

After that Mustard will issue with the first of three trials where you must defeat three runaway Slowpoke who have stolen your rivals uniform. They are found in the following locations and be warned they move very fast! Their speed brings up a lot of what seems to be dust, so it isnt difficult to spot them.

  • Head in the direction they were seen running and the first Slowpoke can be found near the entrance to a cave.
  • The second will be found circling a lake.
  • The last one is found circling around tall grass.

When you head back to the Dojo, Honey will offer you one of Bulbasaur and Squirtle. Choose carefully as it appears this is your only opportunity to get either of them. This may change in the future, but as of right now its one or the other.

In order to get the option to choose between Bulbasaur or Squirtle, the player will need to participate in the DLC’s story content. Head over to the Dojo when beginning the story content and follow all of Mustard’s instructions. After capturing all three of the speedy Slowpoke, Honey will give the player the option to choose between Bulbasaur or Squirtle. The player can only choose between one of these Pokemon. They will start at level 5 and each will have the ability to Gigantamax when it fully evolves. It becomes easy to train them because of the high levels of all the Pokemon on the Isle of Armor.

The Isle of Armor is just half of the Pokemon Sword and Shield expansion pass as the other half is scheduled to release later this Fall. The Crown Tundra will release with over 100 older Pokemon not found in either the Galar region or the Isle of Armor. It also comes along with new Galarian forms of older legendary Pokemon like Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. The biome is also completely opposite of what the Isle of Armor is. While the Isle of Armor takes place on a tropical island paradise, the Crown Tundra will be in a brutal snow environment. It’s unknown what other surprises this expansion pass will have for the Galar region.

Pokemon: Isle of Armor is available now on Nintendo Switch. Pokemon Sword and Shield are required to play.
