Departures and goodbyes are never easy. Whether its the real world or anime, no person truly likes parting company with their friends, even temporarily. So, its no surprise that both the trainers and audience watching on would find this a somewhat somber episode. Despite this, the episode tries its best to play the goodbye off in the lightest manner possible. This fits the theme of looking forward to the future that the series has been pushing since its inception. This means that, even when the group splits up, its clear that each member will be fine while continuing to chase their dreams.

Misty Is A Picky Eater

In the series Misty, Brock and Ash have travelled to different parts of the world and tried different foods from all around the world.;With that, there are two things Misty just can’t eat: peppers and carrots. Despite the character’s carrot colored hair, she simply doesn’t like the vegetable and dislikes them almost as much as she fears Bug Pokémon. Misty also doesn’t care for peppers, which makes one think that her dishes of choice must be really bland. What’s interesting to note is that a lot of the dishes that Misty is seen eating in Pokémon simply can’t be eaten without a little spice, so her avoidance of pepper is quite odd. Hopefully someday, us Misty fans will get an explanation for why Misty’s so anti carrots and peppers.

Throwback Thursday: Brock & Misty Finally Return To Pokemon Anime

The Pokemon: Sun and Moon;anime has brought a lot of big changes to the 20 year old series. From Ash enrolling in Pokemon Trainer School about time to Team Rocket FINALLY beating Ash fair and square in a Pokemon battle, this is the newest anime weve seen for the Pokemon series in years. Even the animation style has undergone a drastic change for better or worse. Though despite all these changes, there seems to be one series staple about to return or should I say two?

Thats right! Brock and Misty are returning for a special two-episode mini arc in the;Pokemon: Sun & Moon;anime where Ash returns to Kanto. As you know, Ash, Brock and Misty were the original traveling trio so having the gang back together is huge! That being said though, since each Pokemon series is an odd amalgam of reboot/ not a reboot, this return continues to confuse the continuity a little bit. After all, if the Ash in this anime is truly the Ash we met 20 years ago Why is he still 10 years old Why is he still so bad at Pokemon?

These might be questions better left for a future Theory Thursday article, so right now lets just focus on the joy of having these series staples back for two episodes! The two episodes in question will be:

Generation five was an oddity. It was the first in the series to get a direct sequel, with Black 2 and White 2 releasing a year after the originals. The sequels did retread familiar territory, but told a new story and featured some new areas and new Pokémon. Generation five also holds the record for the most Pokémon, with 156 new Pokémon to catch.

Even more so than Diamond and Pearl, though, gen five, especially the sequels, felt like a stopgap for the series next evolution. While we regard generation five as the worst, we still think its pretty darn good. It didnt introduce much new at all, but the true sequel concept was intriguing nonetheless.

Pokemon Gold Silver And Crystal

Nestled between the series humble beginnings and a feeling of deja vu that set in for many of its sequels, Pokemon Gold and Silver were the sophomore effort that hit the sweet spot for many fans. Released on the Game Boy Color, these sequels brought back all of the original Pokemon from Red and Blue with new enhanced looks, while adding another 100 new pocket monsters to collect. Like Red and Blue, it was heavily reliant on a trading mechanic, with Gold and Silver offering slightly different collections to encourage eager trainers to engage with their community and friends.

But far from a simple retread, Pokemon Gold and Silver introduced almost as many new mechanics and features to the series as the original. Those included a day-night cycle and weekly calendar, so certain Pokemon would only appear at certain times of day or on specific days of the week. Pokemon gained the ability to hold items that would restore health or improve passive stats. Gold and Silver introduced new Shiny Pokemon, extremely rare variants with special coloring and enhanced stats. They also added not one but two new pokemon types: Steel and Dark, to counter Poison and Psychic Pokemon, respectively. And they introduced Pokemon breeding, which let players pair their favorite monsters to produce a new egg that would hatch into a Pokemon that inherited stat bonuses from its parents.

Why Did Misty Leave The Pokemon Anime

I remember watching the Pokemon anime when I was a kid, and I was absolutely obsessed with Ash, Brock, Misty, and Pikachu. I remember when Brock left, and then there was Tracy, and then Brock came back. After a while, I stopped watching, but then resumed a few years later, to see that both Brock and Misty were gone, and they were replaced with May and Max .

I must have missed what happened to Misty and Brock during my brief absence from the Pokemon franchise. I’ll leave Brock for another question , but what happened to Misty? What was her reason for leaving the original team? Separate from that reason, what was the executive reason for deleting Misty? For example, when the writing staff got rid of Brock the first time, they said it was due to his flirtatious manner, and were worried he would not be well received. Was there any reason similar to this for Misty’s disappearance? Could she ever return, like Brock did?

Misty left at the end of the original Pokemon series because her sisters won the lottery and wanted to travel around the world, so they asked Misty to stay at the gym to be the gym leader. This is in episode 273 of the anime. Of course, Misty didn’t want to and wanted to travel more with Ash, but eventually she left to become the gym leader after a battle with a nasty kid along with Ash, who was showing signs of unwillingness .

P.S. it was at the end of the anime too so they needed to find a reason to finish the series.

She Was Almost A Bride

Most people may have forgotten about the Orange Islands season, which took place right after Kanto and before Johto and featured Ash, Misty, and Tracey, traveling around the Orange Archipelago to pick up the mysterious GS Ball. One particular episode in this series, Misty Meets Her Match, finds Ash challenging Gym Leader Rudy, who just so happens to have a huge crush on Misty.

Naturally, this starts a love triangle with Misty stuck in the middle of the two bachelors. When the trio departs, Rudy asks Misty to stay on the island with him, but she refuses. At least, thats what happened in the English dub. In the original version of the episode, Rudy asks Misty to marry him. Thats pretty weird for Misty, even in Japan.

Misty Has Been Made Adult In Japanese Manga

As if it wasn’t bad enough that Misty’s purpose of the show was little more than to lure in teenage boys, the character has also been treated badly in Japanese manga. In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, Misty is seen in various stages of undress throughout the series. Firstly, she is shown in a swim suit that is far too revealing. This scene was altered in comics, with Misty being given a fuller bathing suit. Another scene that was completely cut off in the American print showed Misty taking a bath in a hot spring alongside Pikachu and commenting on her burgeoning cleavage. What’s worse is that she is also ogled by Ash, Brock and Mikey while she is washing herself. Mangas have never stopped themselves from being a little dirty every now and then, but considering Misty is just 10 years old, it doesn’t feel right.

A fundamental part of the Pokeverse is the bond between a pokemon and its trainer. When one catches and trains a pokemon, an intimate bond is created between that Pokemon;and its;trainer. This often leads to a bond of loyalty and friendship being formed. In this episode, we meet a Charmander whos been abandoned by its trainer but, still, it stays and waits, hoping the trainer will return one day. Unfortunately, this trainer had no intention of returning and when Ash and his gang realize this, they try to rescue this pokemon before it dies. Its a good thing they did as this same Charmander rescued them when Team Rocket tried to steal Pikachu. After seeing the love that Ash had for it, the Charmander decided to leave his trainer and join Ash. This again highlights Ashs strength as a trainer and a pokemon loyalty.

However, the removal of longtime monsters from the game, including Psyduck and Squirtle, does mean you cant catch em all this time. Fortunately, with the arrival of the games Isle of Armor;DLC; and Crown Tundra DLC, youll have a chance to see new environments in the Galar region, catch new Pokémon, and battle new foes.

Pokmon Ruby & Sapphire

PokémonRuby and PokémonSapphire marked the debut of the third generation of Pokémon games. The objectives were pretty similar in terms of catching the Pokémon while players were also assigned missions to take down a criminal organization and the Elite FourPokémon trainers.

Another difference that the Game Boy Advance games presented was that instead of two players, four players could be connected to each other. Both versions drew rave reviews and even spawned two remakes -;PokémonOmega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

She Wasn’t Treated Well In The Manga

As if being subjected to a creepy old man wasnt enough, Misty has also had to face objectification in the manga series. In The Electric Tale of Pikachu, Misty appears in various states of from a swimsuit which is super revealing to a;bare Misty taking a bath in a hot spring alongside Pikachu and commenting on her. Worst of all, Misty is unknowingly being ogled by Ash, Brock, and Mikey, and if thats not creepy I dunno what is.

In the English version of the manga, this scene was the only one which was totally cut. While Japan will tolerate a lot of weird stuff, when it comes to kids in America, censors are nowhere near as forgiving.

Where Does Misty Appear In Ash And Pikachu

Misty appears in Ash & Pikachu, a manga based on the Johto, Hoenn, and Battle Frontier seasons of the Pokémon anime. Like in the anime, she is a traveling companion of Ash alongside Brock.

Three years later, in Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver, Misty remains the Gym Leader of the Cerulean Gym, which can be challenged once the problem at the Kanto Power Plant has been fixed. Initially, she cannot be found in the Gym. Instead, she can be seen at Cerulean Cape on a date with her boyfriend.

Misty Will Never Come Back

A sad fact that has been established by the Pokémon anime writing team is that Misty will never come back to the show. The future Water-type Master has appeared in 282 episodes of the series and while she’s always been cared about by fans, the anime writers of Pokémon have no;interest in having her return. According to them, Misty appeared simply as eye candy and to bring a feminine touch to the show, so after her journey came to an end, other female characters have been brought in to fill the void.;Sadly,;replacing her character is really not a big deal for them. In fact, they’ve stated that there isn’t much purpose in giving her a full time role again which is really sad considering that having Misty back on the show would reignite interest in the series for older fans of the anime. Aside from cameos and guest appearances, Misty is sadly not coming back to Pokémon anytime soon.
