Pokemon Legends: Arceus Tips And Tricks
Helps you with the main tasks you need to do
Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the Nintendo Switch is a one-of-a-kind Pokemon game that introduces many new features. Its the first open-world-style game in the Pokemon series. Battle mechanics have also changed a lot in Arceus, making for more varied and exciting battles.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is such a big game with so much to do, when youre first getting started, it can be challenging to know the best way to play. There are so many quests to do, Pokemon to catch, and items to obtain that you may have missed some useful tricks that could make your experience that much better.
In this article, well share the top tips for playing Arceus and improving your gameplay experience.
Collect Other Players Satchels
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is particularly unforgiving compared to other Pokemon games in that when you get knocked out, you lose your satchel with items you were carrying. However, you may not lose these forever because other players can find your lost satchel and return it to you. You can also do this for others, and with each satchel you find, you can gain merit points. These can be used to get items, which tend to be evolution items for specific Pokemon.
To start gathering satchels, you can head to any area and pull up your map. On the map, youll see small dark satchel icons. When you find one, you can open the menu and go to Lost and Found to return the satchels.
Explore The Vast Environment And Study The Pokmon That Live In It
Different Pokémon are active during the day than during the night. It seems there are even some species that can only be found during specific times of day. Visiting the same area at different times might yield new discoveries.
You can find Pokémon in unexpected locations, such as up in trees or in the crevices of rocks.

Once Upon A Space And Time
Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the Pokémon world before many of the technologies and discoveries about Pokémon weve come to rely on in the main games were made. Your PokeDex, for instance, is styled as a hand-written notebook instead of a digital index. With no PCs to store Pokémon, you instead leave them in a pasture at Jubilife Village . Pokémon breeding and eggs hadnt been discovered yet, so that system isnt available nor is it yet known that Pokémon can hold items. Trading Pokémon with others still exists both locally and online , but Pokémon that would normally evolve by trading now evolve simply by using certain items you can find through normal play. The past was a simpler time, certainly, but in many ways its a lot more convenient!

Worst: No Voice Acting
The Pokemon games are for everyone but at the same time, it is understood that they are mainly aimed at kids. If that is the case then why hasnt Nintendo added in voice acting yet? In a world where kids watch a majority of their content online, with voices, its weird that Nintendo would stick to their guns and have Pokemon Legends: Arceus be text-based only. Are they reading through the story? Its also strange that the protagonist cant talk, although that is not as vexing.
Waterfall North Of Fabled Spring
Apologies for the rather blunt title for this one, but this isnt actually an area. Its vaguely east of Bolderoll Ravine, directly north of Fabled Spring, and sort of southwest of the Sacred Plaza. This bridge and, more importantly, the waterfall looming over it kind of functions as an in-between area for these places. Together, they manage to outperform all of them.
On one hand, its just really nice to look at. Unlike many other large-scale sets in the game, you can actually step back and line up a good view the sky in this photo is our favourite part, its various shades of orange and blue shaping the shot into something more special.
Whats really special about this place, however, is that its used extremely well in terms of establishing Pokémon lore. In the basin beneath the waterfall, schools of Magikarp splash about, completely unaware of the world around them. High above, however, a pair of ferocious Gyarados patrol a sombre lake this is what becomes of the Magikarp brave enough to scale the waterfall to become a dragon. Its pretty badass.

Where To Find Tornadus In Pokemon Legends: Arceus
To catch Tornadus, players will need to have caught or defeated Giratina at the Turnback Cave. Doing so will unlock request #94, which is handed out by Cogita. After accepting the request, players should make their way to the Bonechill Wastes area of the Alabaster Icelands. For Tornadus to appear, there needs to be a blizzard taking place, so if the weather is mild, players should return to the nearest base camp and rest until it starts to snow heavily. When Tornadus finally appears, players will need to hit it with a Poke Ball to lower its shield and then quickly throw in a Pokemon to engage it in battle before it has a chance to recover. To switch between the Pokemons Incarnate and Therian forms, players will need the Reveal Glass, which is obtained by returning to Cogita after catching Enamorus and completing ten or more of its Pokedex research tasks.

Worst: Limited Online Play
Something else the series has been known for since day one is multiplayer. Unfortunately, the multiplayer in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is lacking. Players can trade items or Pokemon if they are connected online. Players can also retrieve lost bags and send them back to players online for reward points called Merits. Its a passive experience.
Players cannot battle online which is not great. Trading is also limited to friends only and there are password codes required. Its amazing how backward the online aspect for Pokemon Legends: Arceus is since it is forward-thinking in many other ways.
Catch At Least One Of Everything You See
While this might seem like an obvious Pokédex completion tip, catching a Pokémon does not complete its entry in your Pokédex. Youll need to see the Pokémon use specific moves, catch a certain amount of them, or even battle them a ton in order to flesh out their entries. Having a Pokémon makes this easier, as you can spam battles and required moves directly, rather than waiting on wild Pokémon.

Why Arent Side Quests/requests Appearing For Me
If you notice your request numbers jumping and skipping ahead, you might not have the required Pokémon to unlock the side quests. Requests on the Galaxy Hall board appear to unlock once you catch the relevant Pokémon. For example, request #21, Back-Alley Mr. Mime, did not appear on our board until we caught a Mr. Mime.
Some side quests might be locked behind progress. As you unlock new areas, the local shops will have requests to expand their inventory, but theyll only get a new one after you complete their previous request.
Also, for some reason, request #10requires you to talk to the guard right outside of Galaxy Hall with the Wurmple. There was no new request marker on him or anything. We dont know why.

Best Pok Balls In Pokmon Legends: Arceus
There are nine different types of Poké Balls in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and each one gives trainers different advantages when catching Pokémon in the wild. Ultra Balls are the best version of the standard Poké Ball and generally have the highest catch rate in most situations, and players can unlock these highly effective Poké Balls once they reach Sixth Star Rank with the Survey Corps. Heavy, Leaden, and Gigaton Poké Balls, on the other hand, are most effective when catching an unsuspecting Pokémon that hasnt spotted the trainer, but these weighted Poké Balls dont fly very far. Similarly, Feather, Wing, and Jet Balls are the most effective Poké Balls to use when catching flying Pokémon, and these quick Poké Balls fly fast enough to catch Pokémon that are fleeing as well.
However, for the best chance of capturing a Pokémon, trainers will need to hit the Pokémon in the back without being spotted. This Backstrike technique dramatically increases Pokémons catch rate, and the most effective Pokémon-catching strategy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus allows players to land Backstrikes more easily. The Gigaton Ball is the best Poké Ball to use in combination with the Backstrike since it will give players an even higher chance of capture than an Ultra Ball if they manage to sneak up behind the Pokémon using stealth, but theyll have to get close enough to be within the Gigaton Balls limited range.

Where To Find Manaphy In Pokemon Legends: Arceus
To catch Manaphy, players will need to complete the main story and then head over to the blackboard in Galaxy Hall. There, theyll find request #66, which will require them to catch a Buizel, a Mantyke, and an Overqwil. With these three Pokemon in their party, they should then head out to the spiked rock formation near the Sands Reach area of the Cobalt Coastlands during evening hours. Doing so will trigger a short cutscene, after which players will be able to find both Manaphy and Phione in the Seaside Hollow area, which is accessed via the ocean near Castaway Shore.
Use Berries On Pokemon
Berries are extremely useful in the game since you can use them for multiple purposes. First, you can feed Pokemon berries to eliminate status effects, heal them, or recover PP. In Pokemon Arceus, berries have acquired another extremely helpful use. In the game, you can throw them out in front of Pokemon you want to catch to lure them closer and make it easier to throw a Poke ball.
If these wild Pokemon eat the berries you throw out, there are an array of effects it could have depending if the Pokemon dislikes the type of berry you throw. This can include stunning them or slowing them down. You can check what each berry does by looking at its description in your inventory.

Best: Running And Fast Travel
Players can dash as soon as they can control their character. This is not too different from recent entries in the series, but it is still nice to highlight. The bigger revelation is that fast travel is more robust. Players dont have to rely on trains or flying Pokemon anymore.
They simply have to open up the map, tap on a fast travel point, and off they go. Open-world games seemingly demand good travel options to make backtracking less of a hassle. Thankfully Pokemon Legends: Arceus is not held back in this way.
