Pokmon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon
Starters: Rowlet, Litten, Popplio
As part of the seventh generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon enhance the versions of the original Sun and Moon in a way that makes them enjoyable. Critics and players were a bit divided on how this game felt. On one hand, the additional features were amazing. On the other hand, it didnt stray too far from the original story, which made it feel like the same game over again.
Nonetheless, we saw some great new features added to the game. Things like Ultra Beasts, new forms of legendary Pokémon Necrozma, and a new Lycanroc form. We could also travel around the Alola region to collect Totem Stickers, which would then give us a chance to get a Totem-sized variant of a Pokémon. We also had a few new activities: Mantine Surf let us surf across the regions seas, the Alola Photo Club got us to take pictures with our Pokémon, and Ultra Warp Ride let us travel through Ultra Wormholes and encounter Ultra Beasts in their own world. Of course, there were also the new Z-Moves for a handful of Pokémon and the upgrade to the Rotom Pokedex, which added Roto-Loto.
Pokemon Diamond And Pearl
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were the other DS entries, and made a bigger splash on the platform due to taking advantage of the new hardware. The core gameplay changes from the rest of the series were minimal, consisting of fine-tuning like adjustments to attack types and the addition of a Pokemon Contests mini-game. But Diamond and Pearl are most notable for the first appearance of the Global Trade Station, or GTS. By taking advantage of the DS’ WiFi connection, players from all over the world could connect and trade their captured monsters. Trading has been core to the series’ identity from the very beginning, and this was a major innovation that helped realize the concept’s full potential. Though the early online steps were clunky and awkward by modern standards, they helped pave the way for Nintendo to continue to iterate with its online trading features. Diamond and Pearl received faithful and lovely remakes for Nintendo Switch last fall. If you’ve never played these games, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are well worth checking out.
Legends Of Space: One Of The Most Popular Pokemon Games
Legends of Space is a Pokemon game without featuring the name of it in the title, with a vague-looking dragon-type Pokemon in the thumbnail to throw off the scent. When players get into the game, they will see that multiple generations of Pokemon exist with the same creature design and name.
Players can battle each other, search for Pokemon in an attempt to collect them all, and battle gyms in a turn-based way that is lifted directly from the main Pokemon series. This game is one of the most popular Pokemon games currently available on Roblox with no sign of it being taken down.

‘pokmon Diamond & Pearl’
The first Pokémon games on Nintendo DS, Diamond and Pearl take place in the Sinnoh Region. The DS system allows you to take advantage of the touch screen, such as selecting options in battles and while playing mini-games. The graphics, colors, and experience are all improved. This is the first game to allow battles and trades with people over the Internet. You could also voice chat with opponents. Unfortunately, the online features ended on May 14, 2020. The type of Pokémon you use in battle is more important than past games, with strengths and weaknesses getting much more attention. The introduction of a new battle system was a major change. Having a physical or special attack depending on how specific moves function changed battling. The Generation IV games Diamond and Pearl have 107 new Pokémon, and 151 total to catch.
Pokmon Diamond & Pearl
While the highly anticipated remakes ended up being a bit disappointing, the original Diamond & Pearl games still slap. In general, the entire atmosphere of Sinnoh is superior in Gen 4 because of how well-suited the region is to the art style depicting it. Theyre quite a bit tougher than Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, meaning they might not necessarily be for the faint of heart, but Diamond & Pearl definitely deserve to be revisited every now and then especially for anyone whose first experience with this era of Pokémon was with BDSP.
In a lot of ways, BDSP players will notice a lot of similarities with the original Diamond & Pearl that much should be obvious. The art and music are loads better here though, leading to an overall superior experience. Just remember that neither these games nor the remakes are the best way to explore Sinnoh more on that later.

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
It might seem a little controversial to call the most recent Pokémon game the worst one, but a) Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl truly do mark the series weakest point to date, and b) sorry folks, were taking no prisoners here. While the original games fare much better on this list, BDSP is guilty of what is traditionally seen as Pokémons most enduring issue: a total fear of innovation.
Sinnoh is an exceptional region with great characters and inspired creature design, but part of what made the original Gen 4 games so special was how different they felt from previous adventures in this universe. The newly revised editions eschew this originality for a tonally dissonant chibi aesthetic and a structure young children would even consider juvenile thats not to mention an egregious ignorance of Platinum, which well discuss a bit more later on.
Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are still great RPGs, and even their most brazen offenses are mostly innocuous but they embody everything Pokémon shouldnt be going forward. If I were a Psychic- or Fairy-type mon, Id definitely be making a Wish or two for the inevitable Gen 5 remakes to learn from BDSPs many mistakes. And please, for the love of Arceus, dont make your main antagonist look like a discount Funko Pop again.

Pokemon Sun And Moon And Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon
The Pokemon Company
Released in 2016, Pokemon Sun and Moon was Pokemon’s last entry on the 3DS and one of the most experimental Pokemon games we’ve seen from the series. The game forged gym battles in favor of Pokemon trials. The Aloha region featured a Pokemon trial per island and also incorporated Totem Pokemon. Essentially, these were overpowered Pokemon that players would have to challenge to progress past a certain area. Similar to gym battles, but many trainers around the world could not grasp this concept when it first released.
While the game had mixed results in terms of trials and Totem Pokemon, there were some aspects of the game that were delightful. In terms of Pokemon that were introduced during the seventh generation, there are some notable faces that fans of the series still go back to.

- Mimikyu
These titles also introduced the Beast Pokemon, a rather bizarre concept for The Pokemon Company. The debate is still up in the air whether or not fans love these Pokemon or not. One of the areas in which Sun and Moon lack is certainly in post-game content. With little to do after the credits roll, it’s tough to justify having this game ranked any higher.
Pokemon Ruby Sapphire Emerald And Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire
The Pokemon Company
The next four Pokemon games on this list are largely viewed as the undisputed top four games. For our list, we have the Hoenn region at the bottom of the top four. But there are amazing features of these games that cannot go unnoticed. Generation three added some of the best Pokemon we’ve ever seen. All three of the starting Pokemon were widely viewed as one of the best in the franchise. There are also countless Pokemon still relevant in modern-day Pokemon titles such as the Ralts evolution line and the Bagon evolution line. What can we say, Hoenn region is stellar.
The third Pokemon generation was also the first time we got to experience double battles, a certain battle where we could control two Pokemon at the same time. It’s been a standard feature in games ever since then. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were the pioneers of the third generation, and it was not for another two years that we would see the release of Pokemon Emerald. The latter took all of the concepts and basic principles from the original Hoenn titles and implemented a more grounded story.
The remakes of the Hoenn Region, which were released in 2014, also did a beautiful job of incorporating some of the Nintendo 3DS features into these beloved games. Mega-evolution was more than relevant in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. These remakes are some of the best in the entire franchise.

Pokmon Black 2 And White 2
Gen 5 was a revolutionary era for the Pokémon franchise, and the first-ever direct sequels Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 encapsulate everything that made it so great. The original Black and White games set a solid foundation by introducing the Unova region filled with all new Pokémon, a captivating story with an all-time great rival , and music that absolutely shredsand then the sequels made it all soar to new heights. The massive Pokédex features creative monster designs and unique typings, and most notably mixes in legacy Pokémon that make early-game team building much more exciting. The story builds on the events of the first games, offering an epic and hard-earned payoff to the overall narrative. And visually, Black 2 and White 2 take full advantage of the Nintendo DS hardware to deliver breathtaking 3D vistas, dense cities, cinematic bridge traversals, and intricate details throughout. With so many options to choose from, it may seem impossible to pick the best game in every generation, but players can arrive at a definitive answer when taking a closer look at each title.
‘pokmon: Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee’
The seventh generation of the storied Pokémon legacy is marked by this remake of the original 1998 Game Boy Color game, Pokémon Yellow. These Nintendo Switch games are a nostalgic victory lap that has tons of charm and harkens back to the best themes from the handheld games & cartoon series. All the original 151 Pokémon make their welcome return here, plus their respective Mega Evolved forms from Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and their Alolan Forms from Pokémon Sun & Moon pop up as well. The fact that you can actually see the wild Pokémon you set out to battle and capture is such a great quality-of-life improvement for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!

Pokemon Black And White 2
All of the Pokemon games loosely take place within a shared universe, but Black and White 2 is the series’ only actual, canonical sequel. Set two years after Pokemon Black and White, these sequels revolve around the reemergence of Team Plasma. Though it took place in the same region, it featured new towns and areas that hadn’t been accessible in the first game, and a handful of new mechanics. Those included a Pokemon World Tournament that featured famous trainers from the series’ history and a new PokeStar Studio side-game. But while it was an enjoyable follow-up to an already solid Pokemon game, it was a little less novel and didn’t represent the usual degree of change that we see in a whole new Pokemon generation.
Pokmon: Let’s Go Pikachu And Let’s Go Eevee
The latest Pokémon entries are the first on our list. We’re not saying thatPokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are bad games, but that they’re a bit lacking when compared to the other core games.

For starters, there is little to no end game content, aside from catching the Legendary Pokémon and beating the Master Trainers. They had great mechanics, but they were lacking in overall content. Keep in mind that they each retail for around $60.

Monsters Of Etheria: Pokemon Fighters Ex Reimagined
Monsters of Etheria is a Pokemon game in everything but name. Previously under the name of Pokemon Fighters EX, Monsters of Etheria is a remade version that was created in response to Roblox taking down all of the Roblox Pokemon games due to copyright concerns raised by Nintendo.
Players travel around the Alchas region collecting different Etherians cute creatures that have different types such as Rock, Fighting, Grass, etc that are obviously very similar to Pokemon types. Players can try to evolve their Etherians, collect all of the different types available, and take on gyms for bragging rights. Monsters of Etheria is essentially a Pokemon re-skin.
Pokmon Gold And Silver
The sequels to Pokémon Red and Blue were a big step forward for the franchise. Gold and Silver introduced a full wave of new Pokémon to find, as well as the return of old favorites. The Johto Region was a treat to explore, also allowing players to complete some Gyms in the order they choose.
Gold and Silver also introduced shiny Pokémon and breeding to the series. That’s all without mentioning the post-game content, including roaming Legendary Pokémon and the iconic battle against Red.

Pokemon Gold Silver And Crystal
Nestled between the series’ humble beginnings and a feeling of deja vu that set in for many of its sequels, Pokemon Gold and Silver were the sophomore effort that hit the sweet spot for many fans. Released on the Game Boy Color, these sequels brought back all of the original Pokemon from Red and Blue with new enhanced looks, while adding another 100 new pocket monsters to collect. Like Red and Blue, it was heavily reliant on a trading mechanic, with Gold and Silver offering slightly different collections to encourage eager trainers to engage with their community and friends.
But far from a simple retread, Pokemon Gold and Silver introduced almost as many new mechanics and features to the series as the original. Those included a day-night cycle and weekly calendar, so certain Pokemon would only appear at certain times of day or on specific days of the week. Pokemon gained the ability to hold items that would restore health or improve passive stats. Gold and Silver introduced new “Shiny” Pokemon, extremely rare variants with special coloring and enhanced stats. They also added not one but two new pokemon types: Steel and Dark, to counter Poison and Psychic Pokemon, respectively. And they introduced Pokemon breeding, which let players pair their favorite monsters to produce a new egg that would hatch into a Pokemon that inherited stat bonuses from its parents.
