Pokmon Of The Year Revealed And Pikachu Didnt Even Make The Top 10
The Pokémon Company and Pokémon fans celebrated Pokémon Day on Thursday, February 27, marking the 24th anniversary of the first game Pokémon Red and Green in Japan.
Earlier in February, The Pokémon Company announced that it would hold a vote to determine the Pokémon of the Year. The polls allowed fans to pick their favorite Pokémon once a day until February 14, and the results were announced at 11 P.M. JST on February 27 via Pokémon Day livestream.
Casual fans might be surprised to find that Pikachu was not the winner, nor did he make it to the top 10. Instead, the most popular Pokémon voted by fans was Greninja, a frog-like Pokémon who moves with a ninjas grace.
Here are the top 10 favorite Pokémon of the year.
Q: What Is A Badge Quest
A Shiny Badge Quest is an extremely difficult Pokémon challenge that veteran players implement to make the relatively Pokémon games more infuriating. In a standard Pokémon game, the idea is to catch Pokémon and challenge the eight Gyms receiving badges along the way as proof of your victories. After the eight Gym battles, the player will take on the Elite Four in hopes of becoming the new Champion. The Shiny Badge Quests requires the player to catch a shiny Pokémon before every Gym battle. Considering the likelihood of running into a shiny Pokémon, this challenge can prove to be quite strenuous. The player will need to catch at least 10 shiny Pokémon throughout their journey. If fortunate enough, this leaves the player with a full team of some of the best shiny Pokémon to use in battle.
Pokemon Go: Best Flying
There are a ton of good Flying-types in Pokemon GO, thanks in part to the abundance of Flying-type Legendaries. As one of the few counters to the ever-dominant Fighting-types, and a double resistance to Ground, Flying-types can make great all-rounders, too.
Without competition, Shadow Moltres takes the top spot here. It’s not just the best Flying-type, it’s also just one of the best Pokemon in the game in general. With 19.87 in DPS and 856.19 in TDO, this Pokemon is a terror in the skies. It’s outclassed by Shadow Dragonite, Shadow Zapdos, and Mega Charizard Y, but none of them have a full Flying-type moveset, and Sh. Moltres does, which launches it over their heads.
Inching ahead of Shadow Moltres in DPS but not TDO is Mega Pidgeot, which might not be as powerful, but doesn’t have a double weakness to Rock and isn’t locked behind GO Rocket event exclusivity. Additionally, M-Pidgeot is one of the cheapest Mega Evolutions in the game, both in terms of Mega Energy requirements, but also evolution candy costs. One more bonus is that it boosts other Flying- and Normal-types in raids when it’s on the field. So, while Sh. Moltres might be more powerful, you can get more mileage out of M-Pidgeot in many instances.

Pokmon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon
Starters: Rowlet, Litten, Popplio
As part of the seventh generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon enhance the versions of the original Sun and Moon in a way that makes them enjoyable. Critics and players were a bit divided on how this game felt. On one hand, the additional features were amazing. On the other hand, it didnt stray too far from the original story, which made it feel like the same game over again.
Nonetheless, we saw some great new features added to the game. Things like Ultra Beasts, new forms of legendary Pokémon Necrozma, and a new Lycanroc form. We could also travel around the Alola region to collect Totem Stickers, which would then give us a chance to get a Totem-sized variant of a Pokémon. We also had a few new activities: Mantine Surf let us surf across the regions seas, the Alola Photo Club got us to take pictures with our Pokémon, and Ultra Warp Ride let us travel through Ultra Wormholes and encounter Ultra Beasts in their own world. Of course, there were also the new Z-Moves for a handful of Pokémon and the upgrade to the Rotom Pokedex, which added Roto-Loto.
Brock Becomes Ashs First Friend
Ash begins his Pokémon adventure solo, but he has such a passionate personality that many trainers get drawn into his magnetism. Brock is the first example of this and hes Ashs first Gym Battle challenge. Ash perseveres despite his disadvantage against Brocks Rock-Type Pokémon and Brock decides to tag along and becomes a wonderful sense of comic relief throughout the anime. Brock actually has a complex past and does a lot of soul searching, which does eventually take him away from Ash, but their time together is always enjoyable. Brock, Ash, and Misty really work well together as a group.

Most Popular Pokemon In The United States
Now this one is a little more unexpected. It turns out that the most popular mon in the United States of America is actually Gengar.
The dual Ghost/Poison-type creature is definitely a fan-favorite, but its a surprise to see it beat out the likes of Pikachu and Charizard. Appearances in games like Pokken Tournament DX might have helped along the way.
Is Empoleon A Good Starter
Back in Pokemon DP, Infernape is the best starter thanks to its matchups and if it has Hidden Power Ice, it shreds the game. However, Empoleon does the same job as Infernape in DP, just not as well. But if you slap a Choice Spec available in Platinum, it becomes just as good or even better than Infernape.

Pokemon Black And White
Pokemon Black and White is a little bit of an odd duck in the main series. It often gets overshadowed by other entries thanks to its less memorable Pokemon designs, but its maturer tone and interesting plot still help it stand out in the line-up. As the only game to get a direct sequel with Black and White 2, the fifth generation of Pokemon puts more of an emphasis on its storytelling, and plays around with the concept of right and wrong. The antagonists in this one arent so clearly as nefarious as Team Rocket always seem to be with their tail cutting habits and treatment of Pokemon. Instead, Black and White features Team Plasma, a group that believe Pokemon should be allowed to roam free and not be tied down by a trainer. It throws up quite a compelling dilemma with no obvious cut and dry answers. This version also has some graphical enchantments over Diamond and Pearl, with more appealing sprite animations in battle.
The Pokemon Company Reveals The Most
5th Jun 2021 16:59
For the past 25 years, we’ve been won over by Pikachu’s electrifying personality, taken a dip with Garchomp, been in awe of Suicune, spooked by Gengar, terrified by Mewtwo’s villainous stare, or just wanted to ride on the back of Charizard. At last count, there were 893 Pokemon , meaning we’ve branched out a lot from the first 151 that were introduced all the way back in 1996. While you’ve all got your favourites, the question of who is the most-popular Pokemon of all time is a tough one.
While it would be all-too-easy to crown Pokemon mascot Pikachu as the king of the castle, it isn’t that simple. You might think Pikachu and his chubby cheeks have made him top dog , with his own spinoff game and live-action Detective Pikachu movie helping him on the way. More than just us throwing out a survey to find out who is the most-popular Pokemon of all time, this is the real deal with an official poll from The Pokemon Company. Place your bets on who you think gets the gold.

Most Popular Pokemon In Japan
We imagine lots of Pokemon fans could have guessed that the most popular Pokemon in Japan is Eevee.
The adorable fox-hybrid is probably the only creature that could give Pikachu a run for its money in the country that birthed the beloved Pokemon franchise. It was even the face of its own Lets Go! game.

Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
Starters: Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup
The 2021 release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl finally brought gamers a pair of long-requested remakes. The two classic Nintendo 3Ds titles come to the Nintendo Switch with updated gameplay, enhanced visuals, an expanded endgame.
We praised the game in our review for faithfully translating Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl in a way that felt authentic to the originals. That can be a bit of a double-edged sword, as the linear path and lack of challenging gameplay will be appealing for young gamers, but may turn off series veterans. The Underground has been expanded into the new Grand Underground. This end game area now contains a sprawling dungeon, where you can battle and capture Pokémon of various types. Its great for gathering XP or filling out your Pokédex.
Q: Does A Shiny Eevee Evolve Into A Shiny
You may think this is a simple question seeing as shiny Pokémon retain their shiny status when evolving. However, Eevee is a peculiar case. Eevee is a Pokémon with the most potential evolutions in Pokémon history. Eevee can evolve into eight different Pokémon. Understandably, trainers would question if a shiny Eevee would retain its shiny coloring regardless of which of the eight evolutions the trainer decides on. The simple answer is yes. A shiny Eevee will always produce a shiny evolution regardless of which evolution the trainer chooses.

The longest Pokemon game per main story length is Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which clocks in at around 41 hours! This is subjective to your playstyle, though. The more XP you grind and the more Pokemon you catch, the longer you play the game.

Dedenne Wins Pokmon Day 2021 Popularity Poll: Full Results
Popularity polls are, well, popular especially when they have to do with Pokémon.
The Pokémon Company International has posted the results of a popularity poll that it ran this past week ahead of the franchise’s 25th anniversary and Dedenne, the Electric and Fairy-type Pokémon from the Kalos region, has won.
Unlike last year’s poll, this year’s was only held on the official Japanese site, although some savvy trainers from around the world could vote on using a special hashtag. To the surprise of many, Dedenne beat out stalwarts like Pikachu, Greninja and Charizard to be crowned the most popular Pokémon of 2021, according to Japanese fans.
Over one million votes were tallied and the top 30 Pokémon were posted, which you can see below:
The list has some interesting names on it. Aside from Dedenne, Pokémon like Cinccino, Buzzwole and Sableye making the top 10 are eye-opening. There’s also plenty of unevolved Pokémon like Snivy and Magnemite in the top 10.
Last year’s most popular Pokémon poll was a worldwide vote in collaboration with and Greninja was the number one Pokémon according to voters. In this popularity poll, the Water Pokémon the Gen 6 actually landed in the number 16 spot.
The official Japanese site also allows for rankings depending on region, which you can see breakdown below:

Pokemon Go: Best Poison
Poison is a bit of a strange case. In the main series, it makes its paycheck with the use of the poisoned status condition and other stat- and condition-affecting trickery. But, since that stuff doesn’t really exist in Pokemon GO, Poison is reduced to the same strategy as every other type: don’t go up against your weakness, and maximize your damage output. Unfortunately, Poison has never been great at sheer damage output, so that didn’t translate to it being one of the better types in GO. With that said, it can be useful against Grass- and Fairy-types, when necessary.
The actual best Poison-type is without question Mega Gengar, but since it lacks a Poison-type fast move, we’re going to exclude it here. But, even with another type fast move, it’ll outpace the rest of the best Poison-type attackers. Mega Venusaur suffers the same problem. It’s probably the second-place contestant against Mega Gengar, and even beats it in TDO, but it has no Poison-type fast move.
As for the best Pokemon with two Poison-type moves, your best bet is Mega Beedrill with Poison Jab + Sludge Bomb. Against Grass-types, though, its fast Bug-type move, Bug Bite, will do a bit better than Poison Jab. As of now, Mega Beedrill remains a fantastic Poison-type attacker but goes down quickly, so try to hit hard with its massive max Attack before it’s taken down. As we mentioned in the Bug-type section, it’s also fantastic how cheap it is to evolve a Weedle up to Beedrill, for what that’s worth.
Pokmon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire
Starters: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip
Those of us who preferred Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were invited back to the game with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The game is part of the sixth generation of Pokémon games and was played on the Nintendo 3DS. Although the game is a remake, Game Freak worked to ensure that it had some of the changes from later generations.
We saw Pokémon with split types from the fourth generation and had unlimited TM usage and triple battles from the fifth generation. They also added features from Pokémon X and Y, such as Super Training and Mega Evolution. One of the new mechanics that stood out was the ability to use Latios or Latias to fly around Hoenn. This is because when using these Pokémon to fly, we could run into mirage spots, which had Pokémon that werent otherwise available in the Hoenn region. This includes numerous legendary Pokémon from previous generations.

The Most Popular Pokmon In North America
Pokémon first came to the United States in 1998 with the release of the international version of Pokémon Red and Blue and the English dub of the Pokémon animated television series. Today, North America remains one of the largest fan bases of the series.
North America particularly the United States accounts for a bulk of Pokémon searches globally. So while Gengar ranks as the most uniquely popular Pokémon in North America, searches for the Ghost-type Pokémon are not too much higher than they are on a global scale. Searches for Gengar account for 2.6% of all Pokémon searches on the continent, higher than the 2.2% global average. Gengar also ranks as the most uniquely popular Pokémon in the United States.
Meowth Is Team Rockets Talkative Companion
Something that the Pokémon anime does more effectively than the video games is its work with the villainous Team Rocket. They have a more integral presence in the anime that puts them in all sorts of disguises and equips them with dedicated members. Meowth is the companion to Jessie & James and hes an exceptional Pokémon because hes one of the very few that can talk, which he taught himself to do, no less. Meowth adds a more playful side to Team Rocket and functions as a bizarro Pikachu in his own way.

Pokemon Go: The Best Dark
When you’re going up against Psychic-type raids, like Mewtwo, Cresselia, or the Lake Guardians, Dark-types will often fill out your roster for some of the best counters. Dark also serves as a fantastic check on Ghost-types, since Ghost’s only other weakness is itself, meaning it’ll counter… your counters… so Dark is probably best in a vacuum. Unfortunately, Ghost-types have some better moves available, so when choosing Dark or Ghost for a raid against a Psychic-type, it will really depend on the context.
Mega Houndoom is a fantastic choice. Its secondary Fire-typing gives it some utility against Steel-types, as well as one of Dark’s weaknesses, Bug . While its DPS rating is basically on par with Mega Absol’s, it’ll stick around longer, making it better for TDO. It’s fairly future-proof, too, with only Mega Tyranitar, and Hoopa Unbound posing any imminent threats to its throne. Even then, it’ll outclass M-Tyra in pure DPS.
Darkrai is a great contender amongst Dark-types, blasting in with a TDO over 400 with all Dark-type moves, compared to 302.2 for Shadow Honchkrow and 383.4 for Shadow Weavile. However, it sits behind Shadow Tyranitar and Mega Houndoom. If you’re going up against Psychic-types, Darkrai does better with Shadow Ball than Dark Pulse in both DPS and TDO, but it’s up to you.
