How Do I Transfer Pokmon From Previous Generations To Pokmon Sword And Shield

This will involve the use of Pokémon Bank, the previous system used to store and trade Pokémon up until Gen 7. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY AVAILABLE WITH POKÉMON HOME’S PREMIUM PLAN.

How Do I Transfer Pokmon From Older Games

Many older games like Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, and Pearl have methods of transfer between them. Using a Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS and the in-game methods , you can move your Pokémon to Pokémon Bank. From there, you can transfer them to Pokémon Home.

Transferring from Pokémon Bankto Home also requires a premium subscription.

What Do You Get For Subscribing

With the free version of Pokémon Home, you get a box with storage for up to 30 Pokémon, 3 simultaneous Wonder Trades, a single GTS trade, and the ability to participate in room trades but not to host your own room.

With the Premium Plan, your storage and trade options expand exponentially. Pokémon Home Premium allows for storage of up to 6,000 Pokémon, up to 10 simultaneous Wonder Trades, 3 simultaneous GTS trades, and the ability to host your own room for trading. You also get access to a Pokémon Judge that performs the same function as judges from previous Pokémon games in telling you your Pokémon’s IVs.

Ahead of Pokemon Home‘s launch in February 2020, Nintendo have explained how the free and Premium versions of the Switch and mobile app work and how they interact with other systems like Pokemon Bank.

The short version is that Pokemon Home lets you link Pokemon games using your Nintendo account. Once you’re linked up, you can use Home to move Pokemon between games. Games supported at launch include Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee as well as Pokemon Sword and Shield, with Pokemon Go support due in the future. It’s worth noting that once a Pokemon is moved from Let’s Go to Sword or Shield, it cannot be sent back.

Pokemon Home Premium, the paid version of the app, also lets players transfer Pokemon from DS games like Sun and Moon using Pokemon Bank. Again, once a Pokemon is transferred from your Bank via Pokemon Home, it cannot be sent back to the Bank. Pokemon Home Premium also adds the “Judge” ability, allowing you to quickly judge the strength of your Pokemon, and increases the number of Pokemon that can be deposited and traded at once. Free users can only deposit 30 Pokemon, for instance, while Premium users can hold a whopping 6,000.

What Happens To My Pokmon If My Pokmon Home Subscription Plan Expires

As explained by Pokémon HOME support, you’ll continue to have access to the Pokémon in your Basic Box, although all others will be inaccessible until you purchase another plan. Happily, it seems there is no limit to how long your Pokémon will remain ‘frozen’ on the servers, as opposed to the previous storage solution on 3DS, Pokémon Bank.

Nintendo Switch Exclusive Features

With the Basic Plan, users can access the Basic Box, where they can place up to 30 Pokémon. They can use this box to deposit Pokémon from Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! as well as Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. However, users cannot move Pokémon from Sword and Shield to the Let’s Go games, and users cannot deposit Pokémon back into the Let’s Go games if they have already been moved to Sword and Shield. Users can freely move Pokémon in Sword and Shield’s Regional, Isle of Armour or Crown Tundra Pokédexes between Pokémon Home and Pokémon Sword and Shield. How Do You Trade Pokemon Through Home

As previously mentioned, the mobile version of Pokemon Home offers you the ability to trade Pokemon with other players. The service features four different trading options: the Global Trade System, Wonder Box, Room Trade, and Friend Trade.

The Global Trade System allows you to offer up a Pokemon in exchange for a specific monster. You can specify which particular Pokemon you’re looking for–even if you don’t have it registered in Pokemon Home’s National Dex–down to its gender and level. When another player offers a Pokemon that matches your criteria, the monsters will automatically be traded. You will also have the option to search Pokemon other players have put up on the GTS and seek out potential trades yourself.

Wonder Box, meanwhile, functions much like the Surprise Trade feature in Pokemon Sword and Shield. A Pokemon you place in the Wonder Box will be traded for a random one offered by another player. The free version of Pokemon Home allows you to place three Pokemon at a time in the Wonder Box, while the premium plan gives you the ability to place 10.

Room Trade allows you to set up a room and trade with the other players who join. Rooms can host up to 20 players at a time, and you won’t know which Pokemon you’ll be receiving until the trades are complete. All Pokemon Home users will be able to join rooms, but only those who have a premium plan can create one.
