The fishing mechanic in Pokémon Sword and Shield, however, is different from previous Pokémon games. To fish in Pokémon Sword and Shield, you must find a body of water like ponds, lakes, and the ocean. Then, you have to find fishing spots that are bubbling darkened patches of water . However, it is important to mention fishing spots usually vanish after a certain amount of time, but another may reappear after some time.

After finding a fishing spot, you can press A to interact with the fishing spot and throw a cast in. Then, wait for an exclamation point to appear on top of your trainers head and quickly press the A button again to reel in and start a battle with the Pokémon caught by the fishing rod.

Build A Balanced Team

How To Fish In Pokemon Sword And Shield

To effectively face the many Trainers throughout the Galarregion and their many Pokémonyou’re going to need a well-balanced team ofPokémon partners. You may love Fire-type Pokémon, but having an entire team ofthem is going to get you in trouble when you battle against a Trainer that usesWater- or Ground-type Pokémon. The key is to form a team with a wide range ofPokémon and with moves that will prepare you for anything.

One of the early choices you’ll have to make in PokémonSword and Pokémon Shield is which Pokémon will become your firstpartner Pokémonthe Grass-type Grookey, the Fire-type Scorbunny, or theWater-type Sobble. Go with your personal preference, of course, but use thatchoice as a basis for assembling the rest of your active team. Luckily, you’llencounter a nice variety of wild Pokémon early in the adventure. It’s not toodifficult to quickly form a team with a solid range of skills.

Keep in mind that the first Gym you’ll face focuses onGrass-type Pokémon. That means you’ll have the advantage if your team is fullof Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, Flying-, or Bug-type Pokémon. You’ll have plenty ofopportunities to build a team of those before reaching the Gym, too. Forexample, if you don’t choose Scorbunny as your first partner Pokémon, you’llhave a good chance early on to encounter other Fire-type Pokémonsuch as Vulpix or Growlithe before reaching the first Gym. Chances are also very high that you’ll comeacross other useful Pokémon along the way.

Pokmon Sword & Shield: 10 Best Areas To Explore For Water

With Pokémon Sword & Shield’s large map, it can be hard to know where to look for certain types. Here are some of the best spots for Water-types.

As the most common Pokémon type in the entire franchise, Water-type Pokémon can usually be found almost everywhere in most of the games. Pokémon: Sword & Shield makes this type even easier to find because the Water-type makes up about 15% of the 400 Pokémon available in these games. Also, since the Galar region is an island, the player will have no trouble finding a body of water.

There are still some particular areas players should know about if they want to find the best Water-type Pokémon. Instead of wandering around the large map, these locations will yield plenty of Pokémon that Water-types trainers are looking for.

You can’t just stroll into a Galar region Gym and get a GymBadge, however. You’ll first have to complete a Gym mission and challenge a fewTrainers before reaching the pitch where you’ll confront the real protheGym Leader. Once you’vedefeated the first Gym Leader, you’ll earn a Gym Badge along with a couple ofother valuable items. And although you’ll be prompted to head off to the next Gym, don’t ever be afraid to continue exploring the Galarregion first. How To Find And Catch Zacian And Zamazenta

Depending on your game, you’ll first need to subdue the other version’s legendary before getting a chance to catch yours. Meaning in Pokémon Sword, you will battle Zamazenta before being able to catch Zacian, and vice versa for Pokémon Shield.

No matter what, you can’t catch the other version’s legendary Pokémon, so don’t bother trying to. After knocking out the first one, you’ll then be allowed to catch Zacian or Zamazenta . They will both be Lv. 70. This is where it would be wise to use the Master Ball that Professor Magnolia gave you as it has a 100% catch rate, but you can also whittle down the Pokémon’s health enough and try using another type of Poké Ball. I also highly encourage saving before you initiate the battle in case you accidentally knock it out.

Congratulations on your new legendary. You’re that much closer to completing your Pokémon Sword and Shield Pokédex. If you want to have even more legendary adventures after you catch Zacian and Zamazenta, consider picking up the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass.

Where To Find Fossils

Near Cara Liss’ location on Route 6 you’ll find one type of your game’s fossils on the ground. To get the other type you’ll need to travel to the Stow-on-Side Poké Center and talk to one of the NPCs.

You can also find fossils with the help of the Digging Duo in the Wild Area. They are just outside of the Pokémon Nursery. By paying them 500 Watts, you can have them dig up a handful of items for you. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll get a fossil every time, but it’s bound to happen at some point. The worst case scenario is that you end up with a handful evolution stones. This process can be repeated as many times as you’d like provided you have enough Watts to spend.

How To Find Dracovish In Pokmon Sword & Shield

How to Fish in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Pokémon Sword & Shield introduced new fossil Pokémon that can only be caught by fusing fossils together. Dracovish is one of these.

Many simulation games and JRPGs will have players digging around and fishing for treasures, and, in Pokémon Sword & Shield, this can result in finding some new, powerful Pokémon for the Pokédex. When players find fossils in Sword& Shield, they can bring the Pokémon the fossils belonged to back to life. The catch, however, is that these creatures have to be fused together to create a new creature. One new Pokémon, Dracovish, a Water and Dragon-type creature, is one such creation.

Players cannot encounter Dracovish or any of the other fossil Pokémon in the wild. Instead, they will need to find the two appropriate fossils and bring them to the NPC scientist on Route 6 for fusion. There are four fossil types in the game: Bird, Dino, Drake, and Fish. These have four possible combinations to make 4 new Pokémon: Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish. Different fossil types are easier to find in each version of the game. In Sword, Bird and Dino fossils are easier to find, and in Shield, Drake and Fish fossils are easier to find. For players looking to collect all four fossil Pokémon, here is how to find and catch Dracovish in Pokémon Sword& Shield.
