Unfortunately, its not possible to catch Zamazenta in Pokemon Sword. Once youve beaten the Pokemon League, visited the Slumbering Weald, defeated the dynamaxed Pokemon in the various gyms around the Galar region, and defeated the Royal brothers, youll then face-off against Zamazenta atop Hammerlocke Stadium.
No matter what you do during this battle, you will not be able to catch Zamazenta in Pokemon Sword. You have to defeat it. Doing so will then trigger Zacian to appear, which can be caught easily with your Master Ball.

Similar to the previous Pokemon games, Nintendo has released two new Legendary Pokemon for the Pokemon Sword and Shield namely Zacian and Zamazenta.
These two new Legendaries represent the two versions of the new Pokemon game. Zacian for the Pokemon Sword and Zamazenta for the Pokemon Shield. Catching these Legendary Pokemon is not an easy task. If youre planning to add them to your Pokedex, below is the guide on how to do it.

Defeat Leon And Visit The Slumbering Weald
You’ll need to defeat Leon in the Champion Cup and become the new Champion of the Galar region before you can catch Zacian and Zamazenta. After beating Leon, you’ll start back in your house at the beginning of the game and be greeted by Professor Magnolia, who rewards you with a Master Ball. Exit your house and enter the Slumbering Weald through the gate on the left.
Go all the way to the end of the Slumbering Weald until you find the area where you first found the rusted sword and shield. Two brothers, named Shielbert and Sordward, will show up claiming that they are ancestors of Galar’s first kings and thus rule the land. You’ll battle one of them and defeat him, but your rival loses to the other.
The brothers will begin Dynamaxing Pokémon across the region, so you’ll need to head to Wedgehurst’s Pokémon Lab, where Sonia can monitor Power Spot Detectors to see where these Dynamaxed Pokémon are occurring. You’ll need to travel to 7 gyms and defeat a Dynmaxed Pokémon in each stadium, all the while battling the brothers a couple more times along the way. At this point, you’ll want to go to Hammerlocke Stadium, where you can encounter either Zacian or Zamazenta on top of the Energy Plant where you first battled Eternatus.

Even though Zacian is genderless, in Great Britain, she is portrayed as female because of the myth of the Lady of the Lake, who first entrusted Excalibur to the legendary king. Is There A Shiny Eternatus
Players have not been able to get shiny Eternatus to this point without hacking or modding their game.
Alongside Zacian and Zamazenta, Eternatus is shiny-locked in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Players are required to catch the third legendary Pokemon of the eighth generation, but there is no way to catch a shiny version of the Pokemon.
The only way this will change is through some manner of in-game distribution event or a real-life promotion like the one seen for Zacian and Zamazenta.

How To Catch Zacian And Zamazenta
Zacian and Zamazenta are both caught in the Energy Plant after completing the post-game story that includes Sordward and Shielbert. Pokemon Sword players have access to Zacian while Pokemon Shield players get the chance to catch Zamazenta. Players cannot catch the other legendary Pokemon, as Hop will end up capturing it.
After becoming the Pokemon League Champion by defeating Leon, the player can start the quest by traveling to the Slumbering Weald near their house. They encounter Hop and battle him before Sonia arrives, followed by Sordward and Shielbert. The player battles one while Hop battles the other, with Hop losing and a chase starting after.
This pursuit takes the player across the Galar region to take part in a series of Max Raid battles alongside gym leaders. This culminates with a battle opposite Sordward and Shielbert at the Energy Plant, followed by a battle against one of the legendary Pokemon.
This is followed by Pokemon Sword players facing Zacian and Shield players facing Zamazenta, with the opportunity to capture them. During this time, Hop captures the opposite legendary Pokemon. The story concludes with the player battling Hop, with his team now including his new legendary Pokemon.

How To Find Zamazenta In Pokemon Go
Ultra Unlock Part 3 will take place between 2 weeks and the second week is when Zamazenta will be making its debut. This will take place from Thursday, . During this time period, Zamazenta will begin to appear in 5-star raid battles. As with every other legendary Pokemon, players should aim to take this battle on with a group of at least 5 other players. Participating with any less might make it impossible to defeat. Its also currently unknown if Zamazenta will be added to the game with its Shield-Form already enabled. This would turn Zamazenta from a Fighting-type, to a Fighting/Steel-type Pokemon. Here are some of the best counters to bring along for this battle.
- Mega Charizard Y: Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
- Moltres: Fire Spin and Overheat.
- Darmanitan: Fire Fang and Overheat.
- Conkeldurr: Counter and Dynamic Punch.
- Entei: Fire Fang and Overheat.
- Blaziken: Counter and Blaze Kick.

In order to initiate combat with Zamazenta, you first need to speak with it. This means that no matter how close to it you get, nothing will happen, so if you plan on rerolling for the best Zamazenta, save your progress as close to Zamazenta as possible.
