Players can get a hold of their own Eevee fairly early in the main game of Sword and Shield. Eevee is a bit rare to encounter, but if players keep running around the various three patches of grass, they will encounter one eventually.

Obviously, the next step is to catch an Eevee, which is not a very difficult task, even for players that skipped the catching tutorial. Considering this is before the first gym and the Eevees in question are only around level 15, any Pokeball should do just find.

    How To Breed Eevee

If youve got your heart set on a shiny Eevee or want them to have a certain ability, move, or nature, your best bet to breed your own using the Pokémon Daycares located on Route 5 and in the Wild Area.

To do this, drop off your Eevee with another one belonging to the opposite gender or a Ditto and walk around until they make an egg. If either Pokémon has the desired nature you wish to pass on, have that one hold an Everstone prior to placing them in the Daycare.

Depending on which ability you want your Eeveelution to have, youll either want to use an Eevee with the ability Run Away/Adaptability or Anticipation . Breeding with a Pokémon who has a hidden ability will increase your chances of passing that ability down.

Time to find all the ways to evolve Eevee.

Eevee is one of the most popular Pokémonand every single one of its evolutions made the cut for Sword and Shield.

That means there are eight different forms you need to take into account when training up your Eeveeand that doesnt even include the special one you can get that will be capable of Gigantimaxing.

It isnt too difficult to get any of the forms, so dont worry about having to settle for a Flareon if you were gunning for a Sylveon from the start. Just be ready to hunt for the stones you need or work on becoming best friends with the cuddly little Normal-type.

Heres a breakdown of how to get each Eeveeloution in Sword and Shield.

    Form
Level up with Max Happiness during the day
Umbreon Level up with Max Happiness during the night
    Leafeon
Sylveon Level up while it knows a Fairy-type move

This is the first time since their introduction in Diamond and Pearl that you can actually use a stone to evolve Glaceon and Leafeon. Normally, youd need to travel to an area with a special rock and level them up there. But now, you just need to find their corresponding stone.

You can also encounter all of Eevees evolved forms in Max Raid Battles or as Strong Spawns in the Wild Area. The Lake of Outrage is usually where you can find them if they do decide to spawn in the wild.

    Day Night And Moveset Considerations

True to their titles, the Sun and Moonlight Eeveelutions still evolve based on the time of day: Espeon during the day, Umbreon at night. This sounds simple enough until you factor in the odd way that the day/night system works in Sword & Shield, which allows for either Pokémon to be evolved during the same time in the evening.

If you have not completed the game yet, the areas outside of the Wild Area will be locked in plot-relevant times of day , with only the Wild Area registering the actual time of your Switch’s internal clock. This means that at 8pm at night, an Eevee will evolve into an Espeon instead of an Umbreon if the level-up takes place outside of the Wild Area.

So for those of you who want an Umbreon before reaching the post-game, beware: nighttime only registers when you are in the Wild Area and can visually see that the sun has gone down in-game. If youre impatient, you can simply set your Switchs clock to the evening and hop to the Wild Area to get your Umbreon.

That is, of course, if your Eevee does not know any fairy-type moves no matter the time of day, if it knows even one fairy-type move, it will evolve into a Sylveon. For those of you who want the fairy-type evolution, most Eevee are found with the fairy-type move Baby-Doll Eyes. Otherwise, you can hatch an Eevee who has inherited Charm from a Minccino father.

Conversely, if you definitely do not want a Sylveon, make sure to have Eevee forget Baby-Doll Eyes before levelling up!

    So, to recap:

How To Get Umbreon In Pokemon Sword And Shield

pokemon shield how to evolve eevee into umbreon

First introduced in the series second generation, Umbreon remains a fan-favorite even so many years later with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. This is thanks to its solid defensive stats, defensive move pool, both of which are made even more useful by its Dark typing and suite of Dark type attacks.

Best of all is that Umbreon is fairly easy to acquire, or at least it is after you know what to do. Simply max out your friendship level with an Eevee and then have it level up during the night time in-game, either through battle or with a rare candy.

    Pokmon Sword And Shield

You are searching Eevee in Pokémon Sword and Shield why cant an evolution be missing from your team or simply to complete the Galar regional Pokédex? You are in the right place: in this guide we will see where to find Eevee and its respective evolutions.

    Where to find Eevee

Evolution Pokémon can be encountered in both Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, but it is very rare. The easiest place to look for it is Route 4 just before Turrfield, the city where the first gym of the game is located. We will have to arm ourselves with patience, because the chance for Eevee to appear in the overworld is only 5% in Pokémon Shield and very low for Swords friends, where Eevee appears only 1% sometimes.

Just wander around Route 4 until you hear his characteristic verse: it is a sign that Eevee has appeared on the map and just find it to add it to your Pokémon collection. To make things even easier you can use Hi-Tech earphones that allow you to adjust the sound, reducing all sounds other than the verses of Pokémon: Like Pikachu, Eevee has a unique verse, similar to Eva!, so it is very recognizable.

Another way to get Eevee in Pokémon Sword and Shield is to have played Pokémon Lets Go Eevee: in this case, just go to the Wilderness Station and talk to the boy next to the girl next to the access area of the tracks, who will give a sample of Eevee capable of gigamaxizing. LEevee event is in particular as it cannot evolve.

Is It Worth Getting An Umbreon

Depending on the game, Umbreon can be a decent addition. You can use it for setups and tanking hits from the enemies. The downside is that it really doesnt have much in the way of offense. The typing advantage allows it to be effective against Psychic-types, which usually have high Sp. Attack. Psychic attacks wont deal damage to it anyway, so you just need to have a good Dark-type attack since it will do a lot of damage either way.

Perhaps getting an Umbreon is a situational scenario. If you just need a Dark-type, then there may be other substitutes based on the game. You may even stumble on a Dark-type that can deal a lot of damage either Physical or Special. If you need a tanky Pokemon, then Umbreon can be more than enough for your needs.
