On January 19th, a Pokémon GO player posted on Pokémon GO subreddit “The Silph Road”, showing off his latest discovery he had traded 100 Pokémon with a friend and they all turned “Lucky”.

There are a few things that can increase the rate of getting Lucky Pokémon in a trade, like owning a Pokémon for more than a year, or trading with a “Lucky Friend” a rare occurrence that guarantees your Pokémon will be lucky, with a 5% chance of happening when you interact with a Best Friend for the first time that day.
There was also a promotion that allowed players to get a 100% chance of a Lucky trade, but the circumstances were limited. It would only happen for Pokémon caught in the first two months of the game’s existence, July and August 2016, and the trainer sending the Pokémon must have done 10 or fewer trades. It’s not just a case of becoming Pokemon Go friends with someone though. There are actually levels of friendship within the game. You can increase you friendship level by trading together, battling in raids or Gym battles together, and also by exchanging gifts.
Every time you visit a PokeStop you’ll be in with a chance of receiving a special Gift. You can’t do anything with them yourself, but you can send them to anyone on your friends list. The good news is you only need to be Good Friends with someone to start trading with them , and you can get there by giving each other one gift.
However, if you want to trade for Pokemon you haven’t already caught, you’ll have to upgrade your friendship level to at least Great Friends.
Increasing your friend level with another player gets you a tonne of perks. When you’re Great Friends or above, you can battle at Gyms or in Raids together, gaining attack bonuses and Raid bonuses. Those perks only increase as your friendship level rises too, so get gifting.
Whats The Difference Between Purified Pokmon And Pokmon I Catch
Purified Pokémon cost less candy to evolve and less dust to power up. They also know Return, a normal-type attack. While Return is OK on a normal-type Pokémon, its not super great on anything else and can be replaced.
Purified Pokémon also get IV boosts when powered up. Each stat goes up by two when purified, meaning if you catch a Shadow Pokémon with at least 13 Attack, Defense, and Stamina will turn into an 100% IV Pokémon.

Purified Pokémon have a number of perks that set them apart from other Pokémon, which include:

So When Should You Purify
The above means your Shadow Pokemons CP is basically irrelevant. Youre not going to use them in battle and if you do purify it, it wont matter whether its CP is 20 or 600 as itll end up the same, regardless.
However, the IVs are important to look at. Shadow Pokemon are clearly an excellent opportunity to get high IV options, and if youre really lucky the coveted perfect IVs.
A quick calculation shows there is a one in 125 chance of, essentially, nabbing yourself a 100% IV when catching a Shadow species. Theres a one in five chance of getting a 13 IV or higher on each stat, which equates to one in 125 when you multiply them together.
So, if you find one with 13s or higher across the board then, unless its a Rattata, you should probably spend the Stardust and do it. There are other things to consider, though.

Why would you purify? The most obvious reason to purify is get yourself a 100% IV Shiny Pokemon. Even nearly four years after Pokemon Go released, this is something many trainers are still searching for.
