If you’re a less-seasoned Pokemon Go trainer, the response once you finally get that Raikou to appear is pretty natural: a mild state of panic as you hope to catch it successfully. Well, don’t panic – it’s all pretty simple in truth.
Ideally you need to be using a berry and a ball – for the best outcome you’ll want to use a Pinap Berry and an Ultra Ball together, since the Pinap Berry will ensure you have extra candy for powering up your Raikou. A razz berry will actually give you a better chance of catching Raikou, mind – but you won’t get the bonus candy. The choice is yours, but keep in mind that this event Raikou won’t flee – you’ll get more than a few shots at it so long as you have the resources.
Remember that Great or Excellent Pokeball throws are more likely to be successful – and if you can combine that with a berry and a curved throw, your success is far more likely. Good luck!

The quick answer to the first part of that question is no you cant solo Entei raids. Theres no fancy dual typing to exploit like Rayquaza just last week, and without 4x weakness to take advantage off, its a simple case of timing out if Entei doesnt reduce you to ashes before then.
A duo is technically possible, but youd have to have utterly maxed-out counters, best friend bonuses, and the weather on your side to even stand the slightest chance of leaving with the dog on a leash. Stick to high-level trios if you have the counters, or look for more players to fill in the cracks.

A recent datamine of Pokemon GO has revealed generation three is one the way. This could have been assumed before but now it seems more likely.
The three Pokemon will join the Raid Battles located at Gyms around the world. On top of this news, the EX Raid Battle feature will begin a field-test program in select areas before becoming available to everyone worldwide.
Like the legendary Pokemon before them, Raikou, Entei and Suicune will all be available for just a limited time so youll have to act fast if you want to grab them. Heres where you will be able to find all of them initially.

The legendary beasts were the first to show up after the legendary birds, striding across the stage of Pokemon GO with their curious mix of cat and dog-like qualities. And now, theyre here again, with Raikou currently in the spotlight and showing up in a special raid hour tonight, February 3. Heres what you need to know, from times to counters and what to look for when it comes to shiny and 100% IV.
Times: As per usual, raid hour will take place from 6:00-7:00 PM local time, when gyms will light up with Raikou raids. Remote Raid Passes, however, means that you can fudge this a bit by headed to other time zones as need be.
Counters: Ground. And Ground! Youre going to want some Ground-types. This means that Mammoswine, Rhyperior, Excadrill, Garchomp and Groudon are going to be some of your best bets. Donphan is in the mix as well, as is Landorus: just make sure youre rolling with a full Ground-type moveset if you can. Same goes for if you dont have these particular creatures: try to come to the table with as much ground as you can, and youll be alright. You could use a Krookodile if you, improbably, have one.
100% IV: If youre looking for a 100% IV, and you probably are, youre going to want to look for 1972 CP on your catch under normal circumstances and 2466 if its boosted by Rain, according to LeekDuck.

Raikou’s moveset is mostly Electric-type, as you’d expect, but there is one curveball in the mixer that can cause some problems. To begin with, we have to point out that Entei, Raikou and Suicune are exclusive to Brilliant Diamond. Raikou Weaknesses And Counters
Raikou is an Electric Pokemon, which means it’s weak to only one type: Ground. Fortunately, there are plenty of those Pokemon in the game, and many are very powerful, so you have a lot of good options to choose from. Groudon, Rhyperior, Golem, and Garchomp are particularly great choices to use.

Where To Catch Raikou In Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl
First, we have bad news for Pokémon Shining Pearl players, as Eitei, Raikou, and Suicune are only present on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond. With that out of the way, Raikou can only be found at Ramanas Park, an area only available in the postgame, after you defeat the Elite Four, Cynthia, and get your National Pokédex. You can get the National Pokédex by visiting Professor Rowan on Sandgem Town after completing your Sinnoh Pokédex.
Once you unlock the area, you just need to head there and exchange your Mysterious Shards for three Johto Slates, which will be used to summon Raikou. After buying the slates, head to the Johto Room, which will be the second room north after entering the outside area of Ramanas Park. After finding the room, enter and place all the slates into the pedestal as the first one will summon Suicune, the second Entei, and the third Raikou. Best Counters For Raikou In Pokemon Go
- Garchomp: Being resistant to Electric moves, the Ground-and-Dragon-type Garchomp is the perfect Pokemon to take down Raikou with Mud Shot and Earthquake.
- Groudon: A fan-favorite Legendary from Gen 3, the dinosaur Groudon is a strong fighter that can utilize Ground-type moves Mud Shot and Earthquake.
- Rhyperior: First introduced in the Sinnoh region, Rhyhorns final evolution Rhyperior is a good choice to take on Raikou with Mud-Slap and Earthquake.
- Excadrill: This mole-inspired Gen 5 Pokemon has a number of resistances including Electric. Use Mud-Slap and Drill Run to help you defeat Raikou.
- Landorus: Another Legendary Pokemon that will aid you well in this fight is the Unova regions Landorus, with the moves Mud Shot and Earth Power performing best.
Garchomp is arguably the best when battling Raikou, but any of the above Pokemon will work. If you dont have any of them in your roster, some more common alternatives that should also be effective include Mamoswine, Donphan, and Golem.
Veteran players could probably take down Raikou in a duo, but wed recommend having at least four trainers to give you a good chance at success.
While fellow Legendary beast Entei has already been and gone this year, trainers have still got Suicune to look forward to. The Water-type will return to the game in five-star raids from February 4 to February 9.
How To Catch Raikou
Once a player has defeated Raikou, aside from the standard awards for completing a raid, they will be given a bonus opportunity to catch the Legendary dog. As with any Raid Boss, only a Premier Ball can be used, which has a standard catch rate with no bonuses. There are some berries that a player can use to increase their chances.
- Razz Berry: Increases chance of capture success by 1.5 times
- Golden Razz Berry: Increases chance of capture success by 2.5 times
- Silver Pinap Berry: Increases chance of capture success by 1.8 times and multiplies 2.333 times the rewards a trainer is given for capturing a Pokemon
The Golden Razz Berry would probably be the best to use, as it gives the best capture multiplier. They can be collected from Raid Battles or by completing Research Tasks.
Remember, time is running short to get Raikou, so take this new-found knowledge and get out there, trainers.
