Pokmon Go Shiny Pokmon And How To Catch Them
Shiny Pokémon are as elusive and mysterious in Pokémon GO as you’d expect. They started rolling out last year in March with Shiny Magikarp and Red Gyaradaos, but now number at almost 100.
They’re so rare though, that it might well be a long while before you encounter one if you encounter one at all. In this guide, we’re going to list all of the Shiny Pokémon available in the game so far, detail how you can get a chance at catching them, and include a few tips to help make your life easier.
What To Know About Shiny Hunting
First and foremost as a disclaimer, the process of finding a shiny, at its core, is completely random no matter what process you use. There is, of course, a slight exception to this during a pokemons Community Day event when the rates of finding the feature pokemons shiny are boosted. However, thats still not a guarantee of seeing one.
Before getting your heart set on any version of a shiny, its best to double-check that pokemons shiny version is available in the game. Certain ones are not in Pokemon Go, so you want to look that up before wasting hours trying to get something that doesnt exist in the game.
How Can I Make It More Likely I’ll Find Shiny Pokmon
Shiny Pokémon are exceedingly rare but in Pokémon Let’s Go! you can increase your odds of encountering them fairly easily. Normally, the chances of seeing a shiny Pokémon are about 1 in 4096 – so, fairly rare.
The easiest way to increase your chances of finding a shiny Pokémon is to use a Lure. Using a Lure will double your odds for the duration of the Lure’s use.
The second way to increase your odds is to increase your Catch Combo. If you’ve played for a bit already, you’ve likely already seen how Catch Combos, or catching the same Pokémon multiple times in a row, will increase the experience you get from captures. But as you raise that Catch Combo, you’ll also increase your chances of finding rare Pokémon. At a Catch Combo of 11, your shiny rate goes up for the specific species of Pokémon you’re catching. After 21, it’s even higher, and it maxes out at 31. You can combine those combos with a Lure to further increase your chances of seeing a shiny Pokémon.
The last way to increase your odds is to acquire a Shiny Charm from Celadon City. You can only get this rare item once you’ve completed the entire Pokédex, though, so if you’re still far off don’t sweat it too much. The Shiny Charm on its own will increase your odds considerably and again can be compounded with Lures and Catch Combos.

How Pokmon Go’s Shiny Rates Are Different From Mainline Games’
Shiny rates in the mainline Pokémon games were originally at a 1 in 8192 chance, or approximately .01%. Starting in Gen 6, this rate doubled to 1 in 4096, or approximately .02%. Even after this increase, Shiny Pokémon remained rare, and numerous methods to increase the chances of finding them were implemented. Gen 4 introduced the Masuda method, a way to increase the odds of a shiny Pokémon hatching from an Egg. Named after long-time series director Junichi Masuda, who was the first to describe how the method worked, Pokémons Masuda method refers to when two Pokémon from game files with different languages are left at the Day Care, the Pokémon that hatches from their Egg will have a higher chance of being Shiny. Gen 5 introduced the Shiny Charm key item that further increases the chance of a Pokémon being Shiny. Other methods of increasing Shiny odds vary from game to game, such as SOS chaining in Gen 7, mass outbreaks in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and chain fishing in Gen 6.

Pokemon Go: Catching Shiny Unown U During The Ultra Unlock Event
Since Unown U will be appearing as a raid boss for the first part of Ultra Unlock, this presents Pokemon GO players with a great opportunity to possibly catch its shiny form. The event begins in earnest on July 23, 2021 at 10:00am until August 3, 2021 at 8:00pm local time.
At the moment, and according to Niantics announcement, it is unclear if Unown U will be catchable in other ways during the event. With that being said, players will need to focus on raiding Unown U in order to have the chance of acquiring its shiny form.
Since there is no way to guarantee obtaining a shiny, players will just need to keep raiding and beating Unown U in gyms across the Pokemon GO map until its shiny form presents itself after battle.
In order to defeat this raid boss quickly, trainers will want to use Pokemon proficient with Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-type attacks. Since Unown is weak to these elements, theyll assist in dealing extra damage and taking it out quickly, since its a Psychic-type Pokemon. Bringing a friend or two along for the fight can speed things up even more.
When finding this particular shiny, it just becomes a matter of lather, rinse, repeat. Be sure to stock up on plenty of raid passes and keep battering Unown U with all your battle party can muster.

Catching Shiny Pokemon Has Rules That You Need To Know
Shiny Pokemon are one of the most coveted items in any Pokemon game. These ultra-rare types of Pokemon are always very hard to find and in Pokemon GO that is definitely the case. Though its not uncommon for Pokemon GO players to seek out these rare Pokemon, not everyone understands the mechanics behind shiny Pokemon in the game and ultimately waste a lot of time looking to catch Shiny Pokemon. In this guide were going to explain some tips and tricks for catching Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
What Kind Of Pokemon Are Shiny In Pokemon Go
Shiny Pokémon are a highly sought after variant in any Pokémon, and the same goes for Pokémon Go. A shiny Pokémon is one that has different coloring than the original Pokémon species. For example, Charmander is normally orange and white.
The Arlo, Sierra, Cliff, and Giovanni Pokémon change out every so often, so you may need to do a little investigation to see what shadow Pokémon you can capture. The chance of you encountering a shiny type is always pretty low, with the potential hovering around 1 in every 450 encounters.
If You Catch A Shiny Pokmon Can It Turn Into A Shiny Ditto In Pokmon Go
No. Magikarp was removed from the Ditto potentials shortly after Shiny Magikarp became available, and the same has held true for other common Pokémon since. However, on February 20, 2021, the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event will unlock the remaining Gen 1 Shiny Pokémon, including Ditto. It is unclear if this means that Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny will be able to be Ditto or if Niantic will handle Shiny Ditto differently than other Shiny Pokémon.
How To Catch And Find Shiny Bunnelby In Pokemon Go
The adorable bunny Pokemon, Bunnelby features a cosmetically pleasing shiny variant that players are always seeking. However, there are some tactics you can use to find and catch this Pokemon.

One of the best features regarding Pokemon Go is the ample amount of shiny Pokemon that can be found within the game. While not all shiny Pokemon are in Go, Bunnelby is, and if you are looking to find and catch this Pokemon we have got you covered.

Which New Methods Are Players Using To Cheat Pokemon Go
The most popular cheating method in Pokemon GO is by far spoofing. This allows trainers to catch many different rare Pokemon that they would normally not have access to.
The way spoofing works is that it manipulates the phone to make the GPS believe it is in a different location. Pokemon GO players will then be provided with a joystick so that they can walk around in that new area.
This cheat has some pretty big applications. Players can spoof themselves to be in locations to catch Pokemon that are region locked. This can also apply to when certain events only occur in specific areas, like the upcoming events for Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf.
Players can also use spoofing to get extended time during Spotlight Hours and raid hours. If a player wants to stock up on a particular Pokemon during a Spotlight Hour and double the benefit from the bonuses once the hour expires, they can spoof to a location that has a later time zone.
They can then play through the Spotlight Hour again, catching more Pokemon, getting potentially double XP, double Stardust, etc.
Another powerful cheat that can really trivialize the mechanics of the game is botting. This method basically sets up bots for the player in a given area. Once the bots are set up, they will find and catch Pokemon automatically without the player moving a muscle.
Players that use apps for botting will likely get penalized by Niantic if they are caught.
How To Get More Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Go
The first thing you need to know about Shiny Pokemon when doing Shiny Hunting is that Pokemon GO is based around RNG. This means that there is a percentage chance that you encounter a Pokemon at any given time. For example, when you encounter any Pokemon in Pokemon GO there is a fixed chance that this Pokemon is a shiny variant. Depending on whats going on in the game Community Day, Events, Research Opportunities Niantic will tweak the numbers to skew in your favor to potentially find a shiny Pokemon.
So with that said, the base Shiny rate in Pokemon GO is 1 in 500. That means that there is a 0.2% chance that you find a Shiny Pokemon at any given moment in the game. There are some Pokemon in Pokemon GO that have permanently boosted shiny rates which improve your odds of finding one, but these are often limited to Pokemon that you will not find in the wild or Pokemon that fall under other criteria.
Within that structure Niantic has varying shiny rates for a number of different types of Pokemon, be those Legendary, Mythical, Shadow and other types of Pokemon. The rate that you can find Shiny Pokemon GO range from 0.2% all the way up to 10% when playing in certain events.

Do Shiny Pokmon Show Up On Nearby Or Sightings In Pokmon Go
No. While all Pokémon show up on Nearby or Sightings, they look normal just like they look on the map.
It’s only revealed as a Shiny when you tap on it and go to the catch screen. So, if you see a normal Magikarp or Pikachu on Nearby or Sightings, don’t discount it once you tap on it, it could be a Shiny. And that list of possible Shiny Pokémon gets longer all the time, so make sure to Shiny check them all!
