I wanted to get a feel for:

• Customer Service How good their communication was, and their ability to solve customer problems

• Slab and label design How much thought has gone into the design process
• Turnaround times Did they stick to the times they advertised

How To Submit Your Card To Psa

Your first step is to visit PSAcard.com. In the upper righthand corner of the site, youll see a green circular button that reads Submit .

Once you click the button, youll be brought to a Sign-In screen. If you dont already have a PSA account, youll need to create one.

Following your sign in, youll fill out the following information:

• The type of item you are submitting
• The service you are requesting
• The Declared Value of the card you are submitting
• A description of each card that you are submitting
• Your shipping and billing information

And with this, youre ready to submit your card to PSA for an official grade, or whichever service you are seeking.

How Much Does It Cost To Get Pokemon Cards Graded By Beckett

Beckett charges $20 each card for economy service that has no sub-grading. They charge $35 per card for economy service with sub-grades.

Although these prices may seem high, you have to consider how much money you can make off of a graded card. When Charizard was first released it was selling for $50-$100. Now if you want a 1st Edition Charizard it will cost at least $300.

There is only one BGS 10 Pristine 1999 1st Edition Charizard and it sold for nearly $11,000! If it wasnt properly graded it wouldnt have been able to sell for that much.

Clearly, the cost of grading each card is insignificant compared to how much money you can make if you are strategic about which cards you get graded. Or maybe its just a passion of yours and youre willing to spend money on it.

It is worth going through your old cards to see if you have any that might be of value. You never know!

Pokemon Card Grading Companies

There are three established Pokemon card grading services that are widely accepted among collectors.

Note: All of these companies are based in the US.

PSA have been working over the past year to tackle their huge backlog of cards to be graded. As of September 2021 they are grading over 35,000 cards per day, however their biggest submission day of 2021 was noted to be over 600,000 cards. Thats right, all in just one day!

In July, they were able to open up their most expensive service for Express Grading which cost $200 per card. In their latest update they have dropped the price of this to $150 per card. Its a very small step in the right direction, but reinstating their more cost-effective tiers still feels a long way off.

What Is Crossover Grading

Crossover grading is for cards previously graded by other companies that you wish to cross over into a PSA holder. PSA will evaluate the card inside its current holder. If PSA deems the card worthy to cross over at the customers specified minimum grade or higher, the card will be removed from its holder and placed into a PSA holder. Regardless of the result, the grading price will be charged.

There are other third-party grading companies out there, but just one industry leader. Is Beckett Or Psa Better For Pokemon Cards

The choice between getting your cards graded by Beckett or PSA depends on what you want them graded for.

It is incredibly hard to get a BGS 10. Even if your card is in mint condition it will probably only get a 9.5.

On the other hand, it is easier to get a PSA 10. The same card might get a BGS 9.5 and a PSA 10.

If you are selling your cards, people will always want to buy the highest number. So if you are selling, PSA is the better choice.

PSA is also the grader of choice amongst most of the Pokemon community.

But if you are just grading for your own collection, Beckett is much more thorough than PSA, so you might want to use Beckett. This will give you a better idea of the quality of your cards. Beckett also has sub-grades.

You need a membership to PSA in order to get your cards graded by them. You dont need a Beckett membership.

Beckett cards come back in a displayable case, while the cases that PSA provides are better for storage.

Beckett Pokemon Card Grading Scale

Beckett has a more in-depth process, giving subgrades for the four key factors mentioned above. Their range runs from a Poor 1 to a Pristine 10.

Interestingly, they also have an elite level above that called a Black Label Pristine 10 for cards that score 10 for all the subgrades. As you can imagine, these cards are highly sought-after and valuable.

How Much Does It Cost To Get A Pokmon Card Graded

First, in order to get your card graded you need to send it to a professional grading company. A very well known and accredited company is the PSA . You can also use the CGC or BCS. They will then give your card a grade value from 1 to 10 signifying the quality of the card.

The highest grade you can go is 10, also known as Gem Mint. There are two price options for having your cards graded: bulk or single grading. The price for bulk grading is usually around $50 per card after insurance and shipping costs. The price for single grading is usually around $50- $200 per card.

The Rise Of Uk Pokemon Card Grading Companies

Thankfully, this situation gave rise to a group of savvy and opportunist entrepreneurs who decided to start their own grading companies on home soil.

Lets not underestimate the low-to-mid five figure investment needed to purchase machinery, casing, staff, technology develop, websites and marketing.

Some of the people hating-on these start-ups, are the exact same people who are hating-on the likes of PSA and Beckett for not being open!

Its super hypocritical really!

In my book, anyone who has the cajones to risk it for a biscuit in the Pokemon market deserves a chance at least!

That doesnt mean to say I think theyre all great and worthy of your cards or money.

In fact, quite the contrary

To compete with the likes of PSA, Beckett and CGC, these UK grading companies must go above and beyond what our US counterparts are doing or quite frankly they risk being eliminated when their services become more affordable again, which they will.

Psa Grading News: January 2022 Update

If youre waiting with a stack of valuable RCs, it can be tempting to send them elsewhere, but there isnt any service which can match up to PSA in terms of maximising potential profits in the long-term.

PSA is reopening one of its most popular service levels in the form of Regular grading. It is more expensive than the norm, and doesnt make sense unless you have a high ticket item.

However, the influx of new grading companies isnt necessarily a bad thing, especially if one of the UK-based services manages to provide consistent results and higher sale prices in the long run.

Does Psa Charge For Shipping

Shipping with insurance and tracking costs $2 per package. PSA charges 80 cents per $100 declared value. PSA charges $20 for insured shipping. PSA calculates shipping and insurance for our shipments back to us based on the shipping and insurance information. A minimum of $20 is required for insured shipping, and $1 is charged for each card not shipped in a Card Saver.
