Weeks after a Wii and GameCube emulator was ported to Nintendo Switch, hackers have finally figured out how to get Nintendo DS games running on the Switch.
Lakka, an all-in-one emulator, has been updated with DeSmuME cores to run Nintendo DS games. Its said that most DS games are running full speed on Switch no surprise given that the Wii U could play DS titles on Virtual Console, and the Switch is more powerful than Wii U.

What About The Old Pokmon Games On Nintendo Switch
Wed love to see the older Pokémon titles arrive on the Nintendo Switch via the eShop, just as the original Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow did on the 3DS. Plus, theyd really work, as they dont need to utilise the dual screens of the 3DS and could be played full screen on the Switch. Of course, wed love to see that extend to newer entries in the series like Pokémon Gold and Silveror Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
Interestingly, the Nintendo Switch actually has a vertical mode for some of the Neo Geo games that launched on the Switch eShop in the last few weeks. Could this pave the way for Game Boy Pokémon titles in the future?
Nintendo still hasnt given much information on when the Virtual Console service will come to the Switch. Its rumoured to be coming with a host of GameCube games, which would be a first for Virtual Console. Its believed that Nintendo delayed the service to give the Nintendo Switch launch games time to breathe, but theres still no word on when it will arrive.

There are two components for playing a Gameboy Pokemon game on your PC. The first part is the emulator software that can mimic the Gameboy operating system and software.
The second part is the Pokemon game to play on the emulator. To begin with, you can start by downloading a good emulator. Wed suggest VBA-M its open source and the most frequently updated.
Once you have downloaded VBA-M, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location youll remember. After, double click to run visualboyadvance-m.exe.
Your emulator will now be ready to play Pokemon. But now youll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.
If youre curious about the legality of downloading emulators, and Nintendos stance, you can read up on it on their website. You can find a variety of ROMS for Pokemon and other Nintendo games on Emulator Games.
Click on a game youd like to play and then click Save Game. A ROM will be downloaded to your PC inside of a .zip file. Do not extract the .zip file.
Next, return to Visualboyadvance-m and click File> Open. Navigate to the downloaded .zip file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.
Saving games on an emulator works a little differently. Saving your game using the built-in save system wont work. Instead, youll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot.

A Necessary Third Part
Every Pokémon fan out there knows about these third entries in the series. These tend to mix all the things from the previous two titles, Diamond and Pearl in this case, and add some new stuff too. Platinum is no exception, it does exactly this, and doesn’t really add much to the game.
It’s great to have all the version exclusive pokémon in one game and more legendary pokémon available too. Not to mention the extended plot which makes it more enjoyable too, and adds game hours. But still, the DS Pokémon games were far from its top potential.
If you’re to compare this title to Pokémon Heartgold and Soulsilver, it’d definitely fall short. Even though there are much more pokémon available to catch here, the overall quality of HG and SS are far superior.
