Your Legendary Pokmon Hunting Skills Are Put To The Test In This Fun But Short
Like the harsh and snowy climate it’s set in, the final DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shields season pass is an add-on designed with the most hardcore Pokémon players in mind. The Crown Tundra puts open-world exploration and legendary Pokémon front and center, taking full advantage of the base game’s best innovation: wild areas. But while it succeeds in being another entertaining addition to Sword and Shield like The Isle of Armor before it, its weak story is similarly short-lived and its exciting legendary hunts end with classic, grindy encounters that will have you praying to lady luck.
The second part of the Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion pass takes you to the Crown Tundra, an icy mountain region filled to the brim with powerful pocket monsters and frostbitten senior citizens. Like The Isle of Armor DLC, The Crown Tundra is one giant wild area where youre given 360 degrees of control over the camera and Pokémon roam freely. Unlike wild areas before it though, The Crown Tundra actually makes much better use of the open-world sandbox by cramming it full of legendary Pokémon to track down and secrets to discover. You might find yourself solving a series of riddles to track down some legendary giants or cooking curry to lure out a reclusive unicorn. Though theres only a few hours of legendary-hunting to be had in total, its definitely some of the best content in all of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Do I Need To Buy The Expansion Pass To Access The 200+ Returning Pokmon From Past Generations
No, not necessarily. Following a free update that will launch alongside the Expansion Passes, players of vanilla Pokémon Sword or Shield will be able to trade those Pokémon with players who have purchased the expansion and caught them all. Therefore, it will be entirely possible to get your hands on those new Pokémon via trading.
Players without the expansion will also be able to bring Pokémon over from past games using Pokémon Home, the service which launched in February 2020 .

Pokemon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass Review
I never wanted to dislike Pokemon Sword & Shield. While I’m sure I can’t speak for every reviewer out there, I feel it’s pretty safe to assume that no reviewer actually wants any of the games that they’re tasked with reviewing to be bad – I certainly don’t. It would be great if every game that we played were 10/10 masterpieces. Wouldn’t that be grand?
I still had a good time with Pokemon Sword & Shield, a 6/10 is still a decent game ‘lest it’s forgotten, but for a variety of reasons I stepped away from the game disappointed. The biggest two issues, if I were to name them, would probably be the linearity of the experience as a whole, and an overall lack of scope. Once I was done with the game’s story, there didn’t feel like there was nearly enough post-game content for me – the type of player that I am – to justify continuing to play it after the credits rolled. While the game made sweeping cuts to the Pokedex, I didn’t feel like the additions to the series’ formula made a compelling enough argument for that decision.
Let’s put it this way after Sword and Shield’s basegame experience, I was hesitant to ever touch a mainline Pokemon game again. The Expansion Pass has made me more hopeful for the series future than I have been in a long time.
Pokemon Sword & Shield – with the Expansion Pass – is the best Pokemon experience since Black 2/White 2 on the DS.
How To Access The Crown Tundra
If you already own the Pokemon Sword or Shield Expansion Pass, fire up your copy of the game after installing the latest update and you’ll see a notification that you’ve received the Crown Pass. As you had to do to access the Isle of Armor, you’ll need to return to Wedgehurst Station and show the Crown Pass to the attendant near the gate to take a train to the Crown Tundra. Once you’ve visited the tundra the first time, you’ll be able to fast travel back to it from anywhere in Galar.

The Isle Of Armor Sword & Shield Dlc Details
Isle of Armor will be the first expansion for Pokemon Sword & Shield, and will release in June 2020. Isle of Armor will also introduce Kubfu, a Fighting-type Legendary that players will acquire during their training at the dojo and a creature that has two evolutionary paths as Urshifu. Urshifu will eitehr be a Fighting/Dark-type Pokemon or a Fighting/Water-type Pokemon depending on player choice, and will introduce a new ability as well as a new unique move for each version of the Pokemon.
Pokmon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass Review What I Don’t Like
Game Freak has traditionally released a follow-up game of some kind after releasing the first set of games in any given Generation. For example, after the launch of Ruby and Sapphire, Game Freak released Emerald. Similarly, after Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon followed. So it wasn’t too surprising that the Japanese game developers created some extra DLC for Sword and Shield. However, it is a bit costly considering what you’re getting.
I was able to beat both the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra’s main storylines in just a few hours.
All in all, I was able to finish the main storylines for both the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra within a few hours. Granted, this was partial because my Pokémon were already at high levels from playing the original game, so the Expansion Pass battles weren’t very challenging for me. That being said, Klara and Mustard’s Pokémon were all between level 60 and level 75, so they won’t be a walk in the park for everyone.
Beyond the new story details, filling in the expanded Pokédex and finding the previously mentioned Digletts do add a lot of time to your Expansion Pass experience. I realize that a lot of work had to go into creating all of these additional Pokémon and locations, but I feel like the DLC was a bit overpriced. But if you like the idea of being able to catch multiple Legendaries from previous games, you definitely ought to buy it.

The Most Recent Pokemon Sword And Shield Dlc 3 Rumor
While most every Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC 3 leak and rumor gained traction around late 2020, there is one supposed leak that has gotten attention only just recently based on its accuracy. Posted over on 4chan all the way back in February 2020, a leaker correctly predicted that The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLC expansions would bring an additional 200 Pokemon to the games. It also correctly predicted that the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes would be coming in 2021, and that they would be simple remakes.
This February, fans finally got their first look at Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which are taking a much simpler, more faithful approach to remakes when compared to past titles like Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Supposedly, Sword and Shield‘s 3rd DLC would add the rest of the missing Pokemon from the National Pokedex to the games, in addition to adding 3 brand-new Mythical monsters. Additionally, the idea of Sword and Shield‘s 3rd DLC existing alongside Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may not be too far-fetch’d.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
/10 Past Character Outfits
Before the ability to customize characters was introduced in the Pokémon series, players had to make do with whatever character Game Freak had created at the time, with only a male and female choice. While it was limited at the time, it would be nice to see these designs return as optional looks for more modern characters, particularly the iconic looks of Red and Blue. Not only that, but outfits from more minor characters like Koga, Lance, or other Gym Leaders and Elite Four members would be interesting future customization options.

Expansion Pass Cost And Release Date

The first expansion will release by the end of June, 2020 and the second expansion will release Fall 2020.
Are There Any Version
Yes. Nintendo has stated that each version of the Expansion Pass will feature version-exclusive Pokémon and characters.
Currently, returning Pokémon Clauncher and Clawitzer are Pokémon Sword Isle of Armor exclusives, and Skrelp and Dragalge are Pokémon Shield Isle of Armor exclusives . We’ll update this with more information as it comes to light concerning Crown Tundra exclusives.
The rival Trainer you’ll face depends on the version of the game you have. Pokémon Sword players will face Klara, a Poison-type specialist training at the dojo of Pokémon Master Mustard. Pokémon Shield players will come up against Avery a Psychic-type user also under Mustard’s tutelage.

Pokmon Sword And Shield Expansion Pass: Isle Of Armor New Pokmon
The Expansion Passes for Pokémon Sword and Shield bring DLC content and new features to Game Freak’s latest entry in the mainline Pokémon series. The two parts of the Expansion Pass feature a brand-new area each – The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra – and both will bring with them new items, features and most importantly new Pokémon, too.
Below we’ve collected all the information concerning the new features coming in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra Expansion Passes, as well as general information about release dates, prices and the previous-generation Pokémon returning. Read on to find the answers you’re after:
The Crown Tundra Offers Pokmon Sword & Shield Players More
The Crown Tundra adds a lengthy new storyline for players to go through that ends in the ability to capture many new Legendary Pokémon. The DLC also adds Dynamax Adventures, expanding the Pokémon Raid features so that players can go down into the Pokémon dens in search of Legendary Pokémon at the end of a series of Max encounters.
The Crown Tundra also offers new means of Shiny Hunting to fans who love to hunt the rare, alternately colored Pokémon. One of the biggest additions to the game that the DLC offers however, is the Galarian Star Tournament. This battle system allows players to team up with other prominent characters from the story and learn more about them as they battle together through the different tiers of the tournament. It also offers post-game insight into characters like Champion Leon, being the first game to show what happens to the Champion once they are unseated by the player.
Because of the large additions to gameplay, battling and Shiny Hunting mechanics, The Crown Tundra comes out on top as the better of the two DLC offerings. With longer playtime and more fulfilling content, The Crown Tundra will hopefully set the bar for what players can expect from future DLC both for Pokémon Sword & Shield as well as future titles. While the Isle of Armor didn’t quite hit the mark for expectations on added content, the release of The Crown Tundra makes the DLC pass more than worth grabbing for fans wants to expand their stay in the Galar Region.

More Than 100 Old Pokemon Added

Beyond Sword And Shield’s Crown Tundra
The current big rumor spreading through the Pokemon fanbase has players believing that after The Crown Tundra launches, Game Freak will be introducing a DLC that will send players to the Kalos Region , or at least have a significant Kalos tie-in. Geographically it would make sense, as Galar is based on Great Britain while Kalos is based on France. While most of the other Pokemon Regions are based on various areas of Japan , Kalos presents the perfect tie-in opportunity for those fans who have been craving the ability to journey to a second region in-game. This rumored DLC is what will truly set the standard for the Pokemon region moving forward.
The scale of this DLC could be something comparable to the combination of both current DLCs and could introduce one large new area to explore. If players are returning to Kalos, which is pretty considerable in size, then Game Freak could charge a higher price and make it a large expansion rather than a small-sized DLC like Isle of Armor or Crown Tundra. Reintroducing Kalos could bring a lot of changes and new opportunities to Sword and Shield. The issue with this method would be keeping game balance.
