Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald brought all new Pokemon and throws you into the Hoenn region — which is some distance from both the Kanto and Johto regions. Considering this game features the third generation of Pokemon and some new technology, it seems most likely that it would take place after both Red and Blue and Gold and Silver. However, according to that same deleted tweet from Matsumiya, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire take place at the same point in time as FireRed and LeafGreen.
This also means that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are at the same point in the timeline here seeing as they are remakes.

Its possible that PokéDoko could repeat new media or info planned to be dropped by TPC separately next week, or perhaps its claim of new info has been exaggerated.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were revealed during a Pokémon Presents live stream in February and will release for Nintendo Switch in Late 2022.
Several classic Pokémon were shown off in the games debut trailer, as well as three new starter Pokémon.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Win Enough
Technical issues aside, Game Freak nailed the open world. But Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduce a few less remarkable changes. Before you get to face a Gym Leader, you’re made to complete a Gym Test to prove your worth. These mini games aren’t egregious, but they aren’t satisfying either. They’re just there. A new feature that has players storming Team Star’s bases is similar. Before you face the base leader, you’re subjected to a mini game where you run around passively as your Pokemon battle trainers in the base. Again: Not the worst, but not particularly fun either.
Scarlet and Violet also place an emphasis on food and fashion. Each new city you discover has a range of stores that sell clothing, groceries and food. You buy food to give your Pokemon status buffs, or collect ingredients to make meals during picnics in the open world. The game isn’t challenging enough to require you to strategically buff your Pokemon with food, but it’s a system Game Freak evidently put a lot of effort into. As noted above, however, Scarlet and Violet’s significant frame rate issues spike up most prominently in populated areas — which motivated me to avoid the trappings of city life.
It’s Pokemon. It works.
Some of the Gym Leaders are cute, but the vast majority of people you meet have the depth of cardboard cutouts. Lack of voice acting can make cutscenes almost comically ineffective. One interaction with a rapping character falls especially flat.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are the next-generation games of the Pokemon franchise, and the second mainline games on the Nintendo Switch. Just like previous Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will feature turn-based battles between different species of Pokemon.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players will take on the role of a starting out trainer in a yet unnamed region that is probably based on the country of Spain. After receiving their starter Pokemon, the player is set off on an adventure either by Professor Sada or Professor Turo. For the first time ever, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be featuring two different Pokemon professors, with the professor dependent on which version of the game you buy.
This entry into the franchise will be the very first open-world game in the entire Pokemon series, as well as the first game in the series to introduce multiple parallel storylines.
Pre-purchasing the game will give players an exclusive special Pikachu that knows the move Fly and whose Tera Type is Flying.

Updates are planned for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet after release. The first of these updates is version 1.0.1, which will become available the day of release. Downloading the version 1.0.1 update will allow players to enjoy online play, so its recommended that players download the update before they begin playing.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available for pre-order now at the Nintendo Store. Both cost $59.99 and will allow players to preload the game closer to its Nov. 18 release date. The Pokémon Company is offering a special Pikachu as a preorder bonus, as well as an Adventure Set for digital purchasers adding potions, heals, and other in-game items as extras.
Theres also the double pack, which includes both versions of the game. Players who buy this will get two codes one per game and 100 Poké Balls for each code. The double pack costs $120.

When Will Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Be Playable
If you are looking to play Pokemon Scarlet & Violet on day one, then you should be aware of the official release date of the game, which is on 18th November 2022. The tricky part with Nintendo games is always the release time. Nintendo never announces a release time for the game, but most of the time it follows the schedule that Nintendo has mentioned on its website. Well, at least for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the game followed this schedule so it is expected that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will be following suit as well.
If previous releases are to be followed, then Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will be launching at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET / 5 AM GMT. This is the official release time for Nintendo’s first-party titles, as this is the time when the eShop is updated. As usual, you can find your workaround for this and try to play the game early. All you need to do is create a new account in the New Zealand/Australia region and set the account you own the game in as your primary. Then you can access the game with this account, and you should be able to play a few hours earlier than usual. This method is used quite extensively, so you shouldn’t worry about getting banned by Nintendo if you use it.
All Pokmon Games On Nintendo Switch
I’ve been a Pokémon fan since I first got my hands on Red and Blue in elementary school. Whether you’re a new Pokémon enthusiast or a veteran like me, there’s so much for you to enjoy as these are some of the best Nintendo Switch games. Anyone excited about upcoming games should preorder Scarlet and Violet. This will be the first open-world game for the franchise, and it’s sure to be an exciting title.
If I had to recommend only one game, it would have to be either Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield. These Gen 8 games are the third-highest-selling Pokémon games after Red and Blue and Gold and Silver. Plus, they introduce the Wild Area, sections of the map where Pokémon can be seen walking around in the overworld. If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can even jump into Max Raid Dens and catch Pokémon with others online.
For anyone who was a huge fan of the original RPGs, I cannot recommend Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! enough. You get to explore the Kanto region in an all-new adventure with either a special Pikachu or a special Eevee at your side. You’ll take down Team Rocket, explore the original eight gyms, and can even see Pokémon wandering around in the overworld. Note that fighting is mostly removed from wild Pokémon battles and reserved for trainer or gym battles instead.

How To Get Pokmon Scarlet Or Violet Early
You may have noticed that the times above miss out a large part of the world namely, Australia, New Zealand, and East Asia. Those regions sometimes get access to the game even earlier, but because the timing varies so much, we’re unable to say for sure. It’s only a matter of hours, but that might feel like an age if your Poké Ball hand is twitching.
If you set up an Australian account on your Switch you might be able to download Pokémon Scarlet or Violet early. You can still play the game using your regular Switch user account, but the game will be tied to the account which is region-set to Australia so make sure you use an email account you have access to!
You’ll need to pay for it in Aussie currency, too, but don’t worry about setting up an overseas credit card just grab yourself some Australian eShop credit.
Note. If in the future you buy and transfer your data to a new Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to redownload the game from the Australian eShop using the Australian Nintendo Account you set up. It’ll still be accessible, no problem, but it’s something to keep in mind you’re able to download the game from any old region’s eShop, only the one where you made the initial purchase.

While Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced players to open-world sections called wild areas, Scarlet and Violet will be a completely open-world experience. This means you can work your way through the game in any order and take on challenges at your own pace.

In order to get around Paldea, Miraidon and Koraidon will offer their services as your partner. These Legendary Pokemon can traverse the ground, air, and water, giving you maximum exploration possibilities.
Challenging The Galar Region
I had plenty of fun just progressing through the world of Galar outside the Wild Area. Though the routes arent quite large or expansive enough to get lost in its United Kingdom inspiration is evident from the architecture of the buildings and bridges, and even the geoglyphs etched into the hillsides. While exploring, you can see towns and other points of interest far in the distance, and sometimes there are buildings and spectacles speckled into the backdrop just to make the world feel more fleshed out. I always found myself stopping when crossing bridges to appreciate the landscapes in the background. I wish I could talk specifically about my favorite town and the area leading up to it, but just know some of them are just so delightful and unique to explore with memorable scenery and music to go with it.
Battle music, on the other hand, isnt very memorable at all. The gym theme doesnt feel tense enough, though to its credit it is dynamic. When your opponent is down to their final Pokemon, the music changes to include a melody carried out by the fans shouting from the bleachers. The transition is reminiscent of an EDM drop, but it lacks the weight and satisfaction that usually comes after it. Some of Pokemons old music are the most memorable tunes in gaming history, and its disappointing gen 8s doesn’t live up to those standards.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set in a new region called Paldea. Much like the last couple of regions, Paldea with have its own regional variations on familiar critters .
It has been heavily rumoured that the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet region is inspired by the Mediterranean shores of Spain, but Game Freak is yet to confirm that via official channels.
If the Gen 9 region does end up being the Pokémon equivalent of Spain, it will be interesting to see if there are any references in the game to the other Europe-inspired regions of the franchise .

We already have details on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters. Theyre your standard grass, fire, and water types, and picking one will kickstart your journey in this open-world game.
The three Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters are:
