Stardust is one of the most important resources that you gain over time in Pokémon Go. It is usually collected whenever you catch a new Pokémon or complete quests, though you can also gain some Stardust when hatching eggs, battling, and defending Gyms. However, catching ’em is the best way to go.
The amount of Stardust collected when capturing a wild Pokémon depends on its evolution. The higher in the evolution chain the wild Pokémon is, the more Stardust you can get. For example, for catching a wild Pokémon that’s in its first stage in the evolution chain will get you 100 Stardust, second = 300, and third = 500.
Now, when it comes to trading, the amount of Stardust used will also depend on the type of Pokémon, as some will require more Stardust than others. Such Pokémon fall into the Pokémon Go Special Trades category, which typically includes: Pokémon not already in your Pokédex, Legendary Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and Pokémon with forms that are not already in your Pokédex. Stardust cost can range from just a hundred all the way up to a million. It also decreases as your friendship level with another Trainer grows.
Unlock The Trading Post
First things first. Before you can take advantage of the perks of trading, you’ll need to unlock the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. Located in the North-West side of your cozy hub town, you’ll find a small wooden stand with a distinct Togepi banner on the side. This structure is where the NPC Simona runs the trading program. However, you’ll need to progress through the main campaign in order to unlock the trading functionality of the Trading Post. Fortunately, it should only take a few hours to complete the beginning area called Obsidian Fieldlands required to activate trading in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
How To Get Lucky Pokmon
You can get Lucky Pokémon randomly when trading Pokémon with friends. When you trade, theres a small chance that your Pokémon will become Lucky. Both Pokémon will always become Lucky if one does.
According to research from The Silph Road, Pokémon are more likely to become Lucky if they were caught long ago. The research shows that Pokémon less than a year old have about a 5% chance to be lucky, Pokémon that are a year old have a 10% chance, and Pokémon that are two years old have a 25% chance. This means that holding onto rare Pokémon for a long time is probably worth doing, even if just to get a Lucky Pokémon.
If you have Lucky Friends, which happens randomly with Best Friends, then your next trade will be Lucky, guaranteed. While Niantic hasnt announced the Lucky Friends chance, some researchers on The Silph Road subreddit note that the Lucky Friends odds are a little bit below 2% per exchange.

How Does Pokemon Go Trading Work
As long as you’ve been friends with someone for a day, and have exchanged one gift, you can trade Pokemon with them. Every trade you do will cost you Stardust, although the exact cost depends on a number of factors – but more on that in a minute.
When you know what you want to trade and who you want to trade with, make sure you’re physically next to each other . Then head to the Friends tab within Pokemon Go, and select the player you want to trade with. Hit the trade button in the right-hand corner, and get your friend to do the same. When you’ve connected, pull up the Pokemon you want to trade and you’ll be informed of the trade cost in Stardust, but also the CP range the Pokemon will hit when it is traded. When the trade is over, the Pokemon’s CP level will sit somewhere within this range. The range is affected by your Trainer Level, the level of the receiving trainer and also your friendship level.
You also get candies for every trade, which is a great added bonus. How many you’ll receive depends on where the Pokemon was caught too. The further away you are from its source, the more candies you’ll receive. According to Reddit, you get one candy for distances below 30km, two candies from between 30 – 100km, and three candies for anything above 100km.
Not all Pokemon are regarded the same in Pokemon Go trading though, as there are two types of trades you can do with a friend: Standard Pokemon Go trades, and Special Pokemon Go trades.

The first step in trading is finding friends in Pokémon Go. To do that, youll need to find the screen in the game that lets you enter a Trainer Code for another player and displays yours.
Step 1: The 12-digit code is located under the Friends tab when you tap on your trainers portrait in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Under Friends, tap Add Friend to bring up the screen with the code.

While there’s some Pokemon in the core games that require a trade in order to evolve, that functionality has been noticeably missing from Pokemon Go until a recent update. The giving of gifts to your buddies is the easiest way to boost your friendship level. You can use it once a day to send gifts to all of your friends and it will increase your friend score each day. As stated above this will take you 30 days to get to the Ultra friend level and you will need to spin Poké Stops to collect gifts you can only hold 10 gifts at a time so if you have lots of friends youll need to spin a lot of stops but it is the tried and tested method.
It is also the only way to be Ultra friends with your Poké Pals from across the world. I have plenty of friends back in the UK and sending gifts is the only way to increase our friend rating. Just by being diligent with giving and receiving gifts you will eventually reach the Ultra level and you and your friends will be able to battle remotely.

What Are The Restrictions On Pokmon Go Trading
Unfortunately, there are some restrictions on trading. This includes distance, which usually means you have little hope of getting the region exclusive Pokémon, unless you or a friend happen to visit that location.
The restrictions are as follows:

- Be at least trainer level ten

How Do Trade Evolutions Work
Trade evolutions have been a hallmark of the Pokemon series since it’s first incarnation. It all goes back to the days when Pokemon trainers would take their Game Boys to school alongside their handy link cable, and served as an effective mechanism for getting players to engage and trade together.
