Where Do You Find The Hm Surf In Pokemon Platinum

Pokémon Platinum an improved version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl was first released for the Nintendo DS in 2008, but the game remains popular today.

Pokémon Platinum has many Hidden Machines that are used to teach Pokémon moves that they may not learn through leveling up. One of the hardest to find is HM03 Surf, a move that is ideal for water-type Pokémon.

In short, HM03 Surf is found in Celestic Town after the player defeats the Galactic boss, Cyrus. Cynthias grandmother will give it to the player inside the ruins.

About HM Surf

ThePokémon Databaseexplains that Surf has a base damage of 95 in generations one to five. It will do double damage if your opponent is underwater using Dive at the time.

A perk of Surf is the fact that it can hit both opponents during double battles. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Pokémon holding Waterium Z transform their Surf to Hydro Boost. This upgraded move has a base damage of 175.

The Pokémon Database also says that when outside of the battlefield, Surf can also be used to cross water. Players can surf to find wild Pokémon and, in generation three onward, to fish.

What Else Is Found in Celestic Town?

Celestic Town is one of the smallest regions in the Sinnoh region. Yet, it is packed with items that help a players Pokémon grow powerful for battle or are just fun to have. Bulbapedia says an Analog Watch, Dragon Fang, and Kings Rock are found in Celestic Town.

Where To Find Elekid And Electabuzz In Pokmon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl

Electivire was the new evolution of Electabuzz, obtainable only via trading with its own held item the Electirizer. While Elekid could previously be caught by slotting a copy of Fire Red into your DS while playing a Gen IV game, now its only available in the Grand Underground, exclusively in Brilliant Diamond. Be on the lookout for Elekid as a rare spawn in various Pokémon Hideaways like the Dazzling Cave, Whiteout Cave, Stargleam Cavern, and Glacial Cavern , and then get it to level 30 to evolve into Electabuzz.

If you have Shining Pearl, your only hopes of getting an Elekid or Electabuzz are by trading from Brilliant Diamond.

How To Get Electabuzz And Electivire In Pokmon Sword And Shields The Crown Tundra Expansion

You don’t need to rely on trades this time.

Several of the most popular evolution lines have been added to Pokémon Sword and Shield as part of The Crown Tundra expansion, meaning there are a lot of trainers trying to fill up their Pokédexes with old friends.

One of the more polarizing Pokémon that made its return is Electabuzz, along with its evolution Electivire, and pre-evo Elekid.

Much like with Rhyperior in the base versions of Sword and Shield, it is possible to get both the middle evolution and final form without going through the original methods. This means you can capture both Electabuzz and Electivire in the wild without needing to find a trading partner or an Electirizer.

Electabuzz is a pretty common encounter if you look in the right areas, though it will only appear during a thunderstorm. Electivire will be a lot more difficult to find, but there are a few places where it spawns as a Special Overworld encounter, also only in a thunderstorm.

You can also find both evolutions in Max Raid Battles in most of the same areas.

Here is where you can find both Electabuzz and Electivire in the wild and Max Raid Battles.

    • Electabuzz
    • Wild: Giants Bed, Old Cemetery, Giants Foot, Frigid Sea, Three-Point Pass, Ballimere Lake

  • How To Get Elekid Magby And Smoochum In Pokmon Sword And Shields The Crown Tundra Expansion

You won’t be stuck hatching Eggs this time.

Baby Pokémon are typically difficult to come by in the wild, but Pokémon Sword and Shields The Crown Tundra expansion features a few of the more popular options running around the frozen map.

This new expansion added in the evolutionary lines for Electabuzz, Magmar, and Jynx, which means their pre-evolutions Elekid, Magby, and Smoochum are all included too.

Normally, you would need to breed the evolved Pokémon in some form to get the pre-evos, but in this case, you just need to get lucky while wandering the wild. Elekid, Magby, and Smoochum are all available in the wild of the Crown Tundra, and also in Max Raid Battles.

Here is where you can find them in the wild by wandering around near some grass.

    • Elekid

Like the other Pokémon characters, each of them has a special location in which they can appear. Sometimes, conditions such as weather, air, time of year can make an impact on spawn-rate.

So, without further ado, lets get to how you can catch Electivire and Elekin in Pokémon: Sword and Shield:

IMPORTANT: Make sure to have the Crown Tundra DLC if you want to do this, otherwise you cant go to certain locations where these characters spawn.

  • Go to Giants Bed. More specifically, here:
  • As you can see from the weather icon, there is a thunderstorm. Well, this step is relatively boring. You have to wait until a thunderstorm starts so that Electivire and Elekin spawn.
  • After it starts, look around chances are you will see both of them, along with some other Pokemons.
  • We leave the next step up to you. Its time to challenge these Pokemons. Be careful they can be really potent.
  • Most of the Pokémons we encountered were 78-90 level, so take that into consideration. But these are really good battle Pokémons, so its worth the risk!
