A Special Trade is required whenever you want to trade a legendary or shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Since theyre rare creatures that you probably wont want to trade very often, you can only do so one once per day. You will also need to be with a Great or Best friend, which are two of the highest friendship levels that will be introduced in Pokemon GO alongside trading. You can increase your friendship level by battling and trading, but itll take quite a while to reach Best Friend status. Also, keep in mind that Special Trades will cost a lot of stardust. An image released by Niantic suggests that a Special Trade could cost as much as one million stardust, with that amount decreasing for players who are at a higher friendship level.

How To Trade Pokmon With Friends

There are over 400 Pokémon in the Galar Pokédex. If you want to catch them all, though, you might need a little help. Thats where Pokémon trading comes in. Some Pokémon will only change their forms once youve traded them to someone else.

Obviously, youll then have to get them to trade it back if you want that creature in your Pokédex. For example, the Pokémon Pumpkaboo will evolve into Gourgeist, a trade-based evolution.

Traded Pokémon also gain experience points in battle faster, but you cant change a traded Pokémons nickname if you received it via trade.

You have two options when trading with your friends in Pokémon Sword and Shield:

• You can trade locally with those who are physically nearby
• You can trade Pokémon online with those who are farther away. This option requires a Nintendo Online subscription, though.

To trade locally, you dont need an internet connection or a Nintendo Online subscription. To do so, open Pokémon Sword and Shield, and then press the Y button on your right Joy-Con controller to open Y-Comm. Select Link Trade at the top, and then choose Set Link Code.

You and your friend will have to type the same eight-digit code to connect and trade with one another. After youve set an eight-digit code, close the menu and wait to be connected. Setting a code will often connect partners faster, but this is unnecessary if only you and your trade partner are trading nearby.

How To Trade Your Pokmon

You can add any other Pokémon Go trainer from anywhere in the world to your Friends list, provided you have their code. While you can send them gifts from wherever you are, to actually trade with them, you have to be physically close together the same goes for when you raid or battle a gym together.

Step 1: In order to initiate a trade when youre physically near a friend , open the Friend tab and select the person you want to trade with.

Step 2: Hit the Trade button in the bottom-right corner, then wait for the other person to connect.

Step 3: Pull up your Pokémon and pick what you want to trade, and Pokémon Go will tell you what itll cost you.

Youll also see a CP range of the Pokémon will change when the trade goes through. The range is affected by your trainer level and the level of whomever youre trading with so if theyre a higher level than you, their super-strong Pokémon will probably get their CP lowered as well as your Friendship level with that person.

Step 4: Select Trade.

Step 5: When you finish the trade, your new Pokémon gets a new, random CP level from within the range.

Youll also get something for trading other than a new Pokémon: candies. How many candies you receive from a trade is determined by where the Pokémon being traded were caught. The farther away you are from wherever the Pokémon was nabbed, up to 100 kilometers , the more candies the trade will dish out.

How To Get Melmetal In Pokemon Go And Lets Go

In order to evolve Meltan to its much less cute, bruising-looking larger evolution, youll need to do it in Pokemon Go: Meltan cant evolve in Pokemon Lets Go, only over in Go on mobile. To make it evolve youll need to spend a huge 400 candy so youre going to want to catch many, many Meltan, preferably using Pinap berries. Walking around with Meltan as your buddy Pokemon will help, too. Once evolved, you can send Melmetal back to Lets Go to complete that Pokedex if you want but remember, its a one-way, one-time deal.

In addition to all this, theres also a new series of Pokemon Go special research missions added to the game centered around the mystery of Meltan. These new missions exist in addition to the existing Mew and Celebi A Ripple in Time quests.

There is a few things to keep in mind when trading Pokemon in Pokemon GO:

• Standard trades cost 100 Stardust. A standard trade involves Pokemon that are not shiny, not legendary and which you have already caught.
• IVs, HP and CP change when trading, but moves, gender and size of the traded Pokemon stay the same. Be careful: Pokemon Level can also change!
• A traded Pokemon level will be adjusted to the maximum power up level the recipient can perform. If you try to trade a higher level Pokemon to someone who cant normally power up to that level, the Pokemons level will go down. In other words, you cant boost someone by passing them a high level Pokemon they wouldnt have access to otherwise.
• You can influence the re-rolled stats by increasing your Friendship level. According to this official blog post, the game assigns minimum stat values based on your Friendship level.
• Trades reward additional Candy, depending on the distance between the locations where the two Pokemon were caught
• 1 Candy => close distance
• 3 Candy => 100 KM distance

Previous Story: The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 event is right around the corner and players around the globe will be able to make up to six Special Trades each day, a total of 18 Special Trades over the Go Fest 2021 weekend.

The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 runs from Friday, July 16 at 1 PM to Sunday, July 18, at 11 PM, 2021, and during this period every player will be able to make up to six Special Trades each day.

For those who are not familiar with what Special Trades are, donât worry, we got your back.

Some Pokemon are considered special trades. These Pokemon require more Stardust to trade and you can only complete one special trade per day . The following are special trades:

• Pokemon not already in your Pokedex
• Legendary Pokemon

NOTE: Only players that are level 10 or above can trade Pokemon. Also, certain Pokemon cannot be traded. Mythical Pokemon and Pokemon that have previously been traded once before cannot be traded.
