How Do You Know If A Pokmon Card Is Valuable

Top 10 Best Selling Pokemon Cards!!! What Cards You Should Be Stocking in Your Store!!!

The two most important factors that will help you determine value are rarity and condition. If you spot a card with a holographic illustration, an edition 1 logo, a graphic with no shadow behind it, or a diamond symbol on the bottom right corner, you have discovered a very rare card!

Depending on how well youve taken care of your card also determines value. Graded cards can help your card value go up.

Tropical Mega Battle Tropical Wind Trainer Card

Sold in October, 2020 for $65,100

Just a bit ago, we saw how expensive the number two trainer card from the 1999 Pokemon Tropical Mega Battle could be even without a numerical PSA grade assigned to it.

And now we get a look at how expensive the trainer card given to all players who participated at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in 1999 can be if it’s graded to be in PSA 10 Gem Mint condition.

This card, featuring Psyduck and Jigglypuff laying sleepily in a hammock in a tropical setting, has become a hobby icon and one of the most sought-after trainer cards.

The “TRAINER” text across the top denotes the card type while the text below reads:

“Flip a coin. If heads, remove 2 damage counters from each active Pokemon . If tails, each active Pokemon is now asleep.”

The $5 Million Pokmon Card: Inside Logan Pauls Record

Top 10 Rarest and Most Expensive Pokemon Cards Of All Time

On 2 April 2022, at WrestleMania 38, it was confirmed that Logan Paul had broken the record for the most expensive Pokémon trading card sold at a private sale with a coveted PSA Grade 10 Pikachu Illustrator card that set him back $5,275,000 .

He was presented with his Guinness World Records certificate backstage by adjudicator Mike Marcotte.

Pauls emotion at receiving this accolade was clear, and as the Pokémon card hung from his neck in a bejewelled case, he accepted his certificate proudly.

But how did Paul manage to get his hands on such a rare card?

His journey started in sunny Italy at Lake Como in June 2021.

There, Paul purchased a PSA Grade 9 Pikachu Illustrator card from Matt Allen. Allen is a prominent sports card collector, ranging from NFL, F1, NBA cards and more, but also dabbles in gaming cards.

The transaction cost Paul $1,275,000.

“I have never spent this much money on a physical asset,” Paul said during the trade.

“This card cost me more than my ranch. My 84-acre ranch.” – Logan Paul

Allen credits “pokemafa”, a fellow collector, for selling him the card in order for him to then sell on to Paul although Pauls identity was kept secret.

“Special thanks to @pokemafa for moving this piece to me so it could then start its journey to become part of a bigger deal that helped release ‘the PSA 10 Illustrator’ from a strong collection in Dubai”, wrote Allen on Instagram.

Next was the small task of getting together $4,000,000 and booking a flight to Dubai.

Pokemon Play Third Season Jolteon Gold Star 20000 Pts

Sold in June, 2021 for $20,000

Beginning in 2003, the Pokemon Players Club replaced the Pokemon Fan Club and with that change came the release of several exclusive Pokemon PLAY cards.

As players completed certain actions, such as attending an event, hosting an event, winning a battle, or placing in a tournament, they could accumulate experience points.

Once a player had acquired a certain number of points, he or she could receive a prize promotional card

Between January 2003 and January 2006, there were just four seasons in which players could participate, so time was of the essence in working to obtain these special cards.

If a player accumulated 20,000 points, he or she could earn this exclusive Pokemon PLAY Jolteon Gold Star.

St Edition Shadowless Blastoise

It might not be quite as popular as Charizard, but Blastoise comfortably beats out the likes of Venasaur and Chansey for the second spot when it comes to valuable base set cards. A mint condition copy of the card was sold for a little over $45,000 just last November, once again through a PWCC eBay auction.

It’s one of 100 copies of the card to have been given the GEM-MT 10 rating by the PSA making it one of the more common base set holographic cards in perfect condition. As with Charizard though, the relatively high population doesn’t seem to have impacted its value all too much most probably because so many of them are already in the hands of collectors.

Psa 10 Kangaskhan Holo Family Event Trophy Card: $225000

Frustratingly for many people, some of the most valuable cards today are those that were given away as cheap, disposable rewards back in the ’90s and early ’00s. A good example of this is the family event trophy prize Kagaskhan, which was given away to parent/child teams who participated in the 1998 Japanese Mega Battle tournament. An important reason behind its value is the expansion symbol to the bottom right of the art this logo was only used on the earliest of Japanese cards, making cards with it, like Kangaskhan, exceedingly rare. The PSA has only ever identified 45 copies of the card, and just 11 given the illusive PSA 10 grade.

At auction, Kangaskhan’s received between $50,000 and $150,000, for those coveted PSA10-graded copies.

Ex Deoxys Gold Star Holo Rayquaza #107

The Best Time to BUY and SELL Pokemon Cards Pokemon Investing 2022

Rayquaza, a legendary monster introduced in the Game Boy Advance version of Pokémon Emerald, is a powerful creature thats long been a fan-favorite. This Rayquaza card comes from Ex Deoxys, a Pokémon TCG expansion that was released in 2005 to accompany the video game release. What makes this already rare card even more valuable is its condition and quality rating. According to the PSA, a highly respected card grading company, the card was rated to be in perfect condition, known in the industry as GEM MINT 10. Flawless condition, in this case, means little to no damage found on the card. Part of the reason the card is priced this way is because unopened Ex Deoxys booster packs are extremely scarce in 2021, so they dont appear on the open market all that much these days.

Topps Chrome Charizard Tekno #06

Collectibles manufacturer Topps once held the license to produce Pokémon cards way back in the 2000s, and these early cards can go for a pretty penny today. The shiny cards are particularly rare. The three types each had increasingly rare pull rates and the pull rates werent even particularly well-balanced to begin with.

Catch em all:How many Pokémon are there?

Thanks to its age and rarity, its no surprise that a Topps Tekno-Chrome Charizard is worth something. One sold on eBay in March 2022 for $23,000 / £ 18,326.86. The seller claimed that an ungraded version of the same card had previously sold on eBay for around $15,000 / £12,000, so clearly that professional authentication makes all the difference.

Sell Pokemon Cards At Local Stores

The first option is to take your Pokemon cards to a local store that buys and sells cards.

This could be a speciality shop that focuses on gaming or trading card collections, or it could be a more general retail store that happens to carry a few packs of cards.

There are a few advantages and disadvantages to this option.

On the one hand, its usually the quickest and easiest way to get rid of your cards since you can just walk in and trade them for cash on the spot.

However, local stores usually dont offer very much money for individual cards, especially if theyre not rare or in perfect condition.

This method is really only recommended if youre looking to get rid of your collection quickly and dont care about getting top dollar for your cards.

St Edition Charizard Holo Shadowless

Perhaps the most well-known, “rare” Pokémon card is the 1st Edition Charizard Holo. First released in 1999, the sought after card is still one of the most expensive as well. The initial release of the card featured a printing error, which was quickly corrected and reprinted. As such, the misprinted “shadowless” version is extremely rare.

Only 95 cards in circulation have been rated as Gem Mint 10, further increasing the typical auction price. In October 2020, a “shadowless” 1st Edition Charizard Holo sold for a record-breaking $220,574 to the former rapper-turned-YouTuber Logic.

  • Pokemon cards value: $43,200

Available only as a participation award in a 1999 tournament at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, where only 50 of the top players around the world were invited, this is one of the rarest and most coveted cards in the world. Its also unlikely you have one shoved in a drawer somewhere unless youre a retired pro.

Expedition For Position Only Charizard

Estimated Average Market Value Unknown

This cards rarity can be attributed to its inclusion in tester packs that were used internally by the company before the set was officially released.

This can be seen in the Charizard artwork, which is obscured by the white text For Position Only which was used to ensure the quality of the test versions would never be mistaken for the final retail version.

Ironically, despite the companys worries about the quality of the test cards, they are now more valuable than the official release!

This is in large part due to the cards phenomenally low print run and the company intentionally destroying test versions during the cards official production.

Although its very unlikely that you will come across this version of the card, even normal versions of this card have sold for over $900!

A near-mint condition card, like this PSA graded 9.5 card, recently sold at auction for $11,000. Check out the video below to get more information about this card.

The Charizard is one such example, finished in a muted silver foil that contrasts well with the rest of the card.

There are 222 PSA 10 copies according to the registry, but that hasnt stopped values from rising due to the popularity of the fire-breathing lizard.
