How To Catch Mewtwo In Pokmon Go

All Shiny Mew Tasks in Pokemon GO // How good is Mew in PVP & Raids?

Mewtwo has been popping in and out of Pokémon Go since the launch of the game, only being available at certain points through special Raid battles and events.

Unfortunately, unless you were quick and paid for a spot in the recent Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, there is currently no way to catch Mewtwo in Pokémon Go at the moment. Previously, Mewtwo was available during Raids in 2018 as well as a special Armoured version not too long ago, but these appearances were only available for a limited time.

Fret not, however, as Niantic will no doubt throw everyones favorite Legendary Psychic Pokémon back into the mix in the near future. The bad news is that all we can do now is wait. At least theres plenty to do in Pokémon Go to keep us all entertained until this happens, like gazing lovely at your newly-captured Mew.

Weakness: Captivate Doesn’t Work

Mew is a powerful Pokémon that knows a ton of moves. However, it is also a genderless Pokémon, so the move captivate doesn’t work. Mew knows this move and may even attempt to use it, but it will never have any effect on the opponent that it is trying to fight.

Captivate is a non-damaging normal type move that is meant to lower the Special Attack stat of the target by two stages.

But this only works if the Pokémon they are battling is of the opposite gender, hence the move not working when the Pokémon is genderless. Mew is the only genderless Pokémon that can learn this move, however, it still fails when used by it.

What If You Don’t Have The Best Movesets In Pokmon Go

Since the introduction of the Raid Battle system in June 2017, you can get Technical Machines to change your movesets. Two of the possible rewards for beating Raid Bosses are Quick TM and Fast TM, which can be used to change Quick Moves and Charge Moves respectively. Regular TMs are completely random and cannot access Legacy Moves.

Legacy Moves are special moves that were once available for a Pokémon but are no longer. Sometimes they were removed when Niantic re-balanced the game. Some were only available on Community Day or in special Raids. Either way, if a Legacy Move happens to be the best possible move for a Pokémon and you don’t have it, you cannot get it with a normal TM. Before you use a TM on any Pokémon, you should always check to see if the move you’re changing is a Legacy Move and if that move is worth having. A lot of Legacy Moves don’t perform well, but some of them are the best moves in the game.

More recently, Niantic introduced Elite TMs. These TMs are rare, and often difficult to get or expensive, but allow you to choose from any move a Pokémon can have, including Legacy Moves. They aren’t random either. You get to choose the move. Because of how hard it is to get Elite TMs, you’ll want to save them for your very best Pokémon, but hey, now you can have a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball and Psystrike!

A Mythical Discovery Part 5

The fifth part of this quest is tricky. You have to catch a Ditto, catch 10 Ghost-type Pokémon, and make 20 Great Throws. You already know how to improve your throws from earlier in the process, but finding these Pokémon can be challenging.

Ditto is a Pokémon that can transform into other Pokémon, and to make things really tough, you can’t actually see it on the map. In order to catch a Ditto, you’ll just have to catch it when it’s disguised as another Pokémon. Luckily there are only a few types that it will pretend to be. Ditto is known to disguise itself as Pidgey, Rattata, Zubat, Mankey, Gastly, Sentret, Hoothoot, Yanma, Remoraid, Zigzagoon, Taillow, Whismur, and Gulpin. So if you spot any of them on your map, it’s a good idea to go after them.

Ghost Pokémon can be hard to find in the wild, and with only 10 in the game, you’ll be searching far and wide for them. However, there are easier ways to find them, if you can spare the time. Ghost Pokemon tend to show up more frequently at night, so usually between 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. in your local area. You can also look around for nests where they may be congregating, like near cemeteries and parking lots.

How To Catch Mew In Pokmon Go

Which moveset for Mew?

The process to catch Mew is extremely long-winded but its completely achievable if youve got the time and some patience. When you get to the stage in the game to unlock Research Tasks, which is nice and early on, youre going to want to focus on the one called A Mythical Discovery which should say 1/8 next to it.

Completing the eight steps will unlock a bunch of nifty rewards like Incense and Poké Balls, but the real reason to complete the quest is to catch the Mythical Pokémon Mew. Buckle up, here are all the steps you must complete:

Power: Mew Can Learn Any Move

Mew is a powerful Pokémon no matter what, it is extremely adaptable and is also a legendary, so any regular Pokémon will really have its hands full when it comes to this little one. Mew is said to have the DNA of every single Pokémon that has ever existed. As a result, Mew is able to learn any move that it chooses or that the trainer wants it to. This is a huge advantage in battle as Mew can literally be effective towards every type of Pokémon. Mew is said to be the first Pokémon to ever exist which is why it seems to resemble an embryo in some aspects.

Who Is Mewtwo In Pokmon Go

One of the strongest and most recognizable Legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo is one of a select few artificial Pokémon, created intentionally by humans. The scientists who created Mewtwo spent many years conducting horrific experiments, splicing and cloning DNA from Mew, the common ancestor of virtually all other Pokémon. Because Mew has the DNA of virtually all other Pokémon, it can learn every move in the core game. Mewtwo came very close, but due to the horrific experiments conducted on it, Mewtwo is believed to be the most savage of Pokémon, harboring deep seated hatred of humanity. Mewtwo is also one of only two Pokémon with multiple Mega Evolutions. Neither Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y have been intoduced to Pokémon Go… yet.

In Pokémon Go, neither Mewtwo nor Mew can learn every move, but they can learn a very wide range of moves. Mewtwo’s diverse movepool and excellent stats make it one of the most powerful Pokémon in all of Pokémon Go. It’s Shadow forme is the strongest Pokémon in the game by far. Whether you’re looking to add another Mewtwo to your roster or to power up your existing Mewtwo, this is a Raid you won’t want to miss out on!

Pokemon Go: Best Moveset For Mew

With the capability to use any TM, Pokemon trainers can run some fantastic movesets with Mew in their hands.

Mew is the embodiment of unpredictability. Facing one in PvP mode can be really stressful since the player has to guess whether or not it has the most that can hit their Pokemon for super effective. There is no real safe swap to Mew unless the opponent knows which set Mew is specifically running.

With that flexibility, though, trainers with Mew can run a moveset that covers the maximum amount of threats possible. The following moveset is designed to hit popular Pokemon for high or super effective damage.

Weakness: Dark Type Moves

Mew Sweeps Regional Championship | Pokemon GO Battle League

Another type of move that is effective against Mew are dark type moves. Dark-type moves are already pretty powerful to begin with, so paired with a strong Pokémon they will really give Mew’s opponent an upper hand. There are a ton of powerful Pokémon that have dark type moves that would be a great choice when battling Mew, for example, Tyranitar and Darkrai can really hold their own in battle. Mew’s moves will not be as effective on these Pokémon, so they will be able to last a bit longer in battle. Some other legendary Pokémon who are also weak against dark type moves are Celebi and Mewtwo.

Stage : Reach Level 25 Battle 10x Raids Evolve A Gyarados

If you’ve already reached Level 25, you’ll also get auto-completed for that task. If you haven’t, once again, crack some Lucky Eggs and do as many back-to-back Legendary Raids as you need to to level up. 20,000 XP a pop, what can I say?

For the 10x Raids, you can either get a group of friends together and get a Raid Train going, or you can find a couple Tier 4 or Tier 5 Raids you can’t possibly beat on your own and just lose them over and over again until you get to 10. It’s time-consuming but it’s not difficult.

Evolving a Gyarados, if you don’t have the Candy now that’s difficult. Sadly, previous evolutions don’t count. You have to evovle a new one. So if you just evolved a Shiny, or were waiting to evolve a Shiny, tough luck. You’ll need to either track down enough Magikarp, Pinap Berry them, and get to 400 Candy, or Raid your heart out until you get enough Rare Candy to make up the difference, or both.

Yeah, this one can be a real wall.

Weakness: It Has A Lower Cp Then Some Pokmon

Mew is a legendary Pokémon and therefore should be stronger than most other Pokémon. Although Mew is very strong and super adaptable it does happen to have a lower CP then some other Pokémon.

This means that it may not be able to withstand a large number of powerful attacks.

Mewtwo and Dragonite both have higher CPs then Mew, so they will definitely give this little Pokémon a run for its money. Although Mew does not have the highest CP of all the Pokémon, it does have very powerful moves so it will not be completely unmatched in a battle with these Pokémon.

Power: Mew Can Make Itself Invisible

" Pokémon GO" Mew Research Guide

Many scientists and Pokémon trainers basically consider Mew extinct because it is very rarely seen, and even once it is seen it is gone before anyone can even think about capturing it.

However, Mew has the ability to make itself invisible at will.

Almost as soon as it comes in contact with humans, then it goes invisible. It appears that it is gone, but Mew is still around. Only a couple of people have been able to see Mew in the flesh and those who have did not get to experience it for very long leading some to believe that it is just a mirage and not an actual Pokémon.

Reward: 10,000 Stardust, 1 Super Incubator, 20 Mew candy

Once completing all the steps, Mew will pop up with AR on and unlimited plain Pokéballs handy. Mew moves around a lot, but dont worry too much about landing excellent curve balls. Mew will eventually be caught, as long as you hit it with balls.

Mew isnt a very good attacker for raids or gyms, but can learn an extremely versatile number of moves. However, players will need a massive amount of TMs to make Mew work to their favor, making the cute Legendary Pokémon more of a Pokédex filler than anything else.

If this is your first special research quest, there should be three more to complete:

Pokmon Go: Best Movesets August 2021

While it may seem like Combat Power or stats are the most important factors in Pokémon Go, movesets play a critical role as well. Movesets are the combination of the fast attack and charged attack your Pokémon uses in battles.

The wonderful, terrible thing about movesets is that they’re usually determined at random. The good news is that, with Technical Machines and Elite TMs, you change your old, terrible moves. But how do you know which movesets will help your Pokémon win at PvP Trainer Battles and decimate Gyms and Raids and which will make a fight simply unwinnable? Here’s the newly updated list! Power: The Only Pokmon Capable Of Using Genesis Supernova

Mew is a legendary Pokémon, with this comes a couple of perks. For example, Mew is the only Pokémon that can do the move Genesis Supernova. This move is a damage dealing psychic type z-move that was first introduced in the seventh generation.

This move causes the battlefield to become Psychic Terrain for five moves.

Psychic Terrain boosts the power of psychic type Pokémon by 50% while it is in place. The power behind this move is 185 and it may affect anyone who is adjacent to the Pokémon. Genesis Supernova is basically an upgraded version of psychic that only Mew can do.

Power: It Only Shows Itself To Those With Good Intentions

Mew may just be a Pokémon, but it is very intelligent and has a big heart. Since Mew can make itself invisible at will, it uses this as a defense against those who do not have the best intentions. Mew will only appear to those who have a good heart and good intentions. This is the main reason that many people, like Team Rocket, who have attempted for years to find Mew have been unsuccessful. Mew can see right through those who try to gain its trust in order to capture it. Mew is a Pokémon with a free spirit who loves to do whatever it wants so when it gets bored of a situation or feels threatened then it will disappear without a moment’s notice.

What About Secondary Charge Moves In Pokmon Go

With PvP Trainer Battles, Niantic also introduced secondary Charge Moves. You can buy them with Stardust and Candy, and TM them to whatever it is you need. So, what do you need? Typically, variety. If the best Charge Move is a full bar, get a secondary that’s multi-bar. If there are two possible types for the Charged move, get both. For example, a Mewtwo with Shadow Ball or Psystrike is incredible, but one with both? Gamebreaker! However, adding a second Charge Move is expensive so make sure there is a good secondary move before spending on this upgrade.

Pokemon Go: How To Catch Mew

If you want to become a Pokemon Master, youll have to track down Mew in Pokemon Go. Heres how to complete A Mythical Discovery campaign.

The world of Pokémon includes many powerful and mysterious creatures hiding in the most hard-to-reach places. While most Pokémon species exist in multitudes, there are special critters who are considered one of a kind. One of the most sought-after Pokémon in the world is Mew, found in Pokémon Go.

Mew has been available for a few years now, but you can’t find it on the in-game map. Instead, you’ll have to accomplish specific tasks within the game’s Special Research campaign called A Mythical Discovery, which is given to you by Professor Willow. Each part of the campaign contains three different tasks to complete.

If you’re new to the game, we have some great tips for you .

If you’re looking to track down Mew, you’re going to need some help. Here’s exactly what you need to do in order to get the rarest Pokémon of them all.

Is Mew Good In Pokmon Go

OMG MEW IN POKEMON GO

Mew is an extremely rare and mythical Pokémon in Pokémon Go. You wont be able to catch it outside of special research tasks. You wont find it in the wild, in five-star raids, or any regular rotations. Mew is tough to capture, so if you dont have this Pokémon in your collection, the chances of adding it to your Pokémon Go roster is pretty slim unless you want to complete some of the biggest, longest events in the mobile game. When you do capture Mew, its a good Pokémon. Its viable in raids and PvP. The downside to the Pokémon is that it has a massive list of moves you have to pick for both fast and charged moves. Once you narrow that down and have a better idea of how you want to use Mew, its a good Pokémon for nearly any player. Weve already listed out the best moveset it can learn, too.

Mew is a Psychic-type Pokémon. Its weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type moves, but its resistant to Fighting and Psychic-type attacks. For PvP, Mew has a maximum CP of 3,265, an attack of 177, a defense of 177, and a stamina of 189. For PvE, Mew has an attack of 210, a defense of 210, and a stamina of 225. Despite having a high maximum CP number, Mew is a viable option for you to use in both the Great and Master League. Most Pokémon cant compete in entirely separate categories like that as effectively as Mew can, which gives it some excellent flexibility, depending on how you want to use it.
