Can I Use Pokmon Home To Transfer My Original Gen 1 And 2 Pokmon From Pokmon Red / Blue / Yellow / Gold / Silver / Crystal On Game Boy To Pokmon Sword And Shield

LOSER HAS TO TRADE A SHINY POKÉMON! (Pokémon GO)

Unfortunately, no. The Pokémon you first caught two decades ago are forever trapped on those original Game Boy cartridges or on Pokémon Stadium. Of course, using various shady tactics and compromised hardware, enterprising Poké Trainers have been known to dump their original saves from the Game Boy carts, upload them to the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red and Blue, and then move those to Pokémon Bank, but we shall not delve into those dark arts here.

No, it seems that Stinkypoo the Pikachu, Wormy the Weedle and Metapoo the Metapod will die on our Game Boy carts along with the battery. Probably for the best, to be honest.

Pokemon Go Trade Distance To Be Extended For Limited Time

Update: Trainers, the 40km trade distance bonus will go live starting from December 24, 2021, at 10 AM PST, until December 27, 2021 at 10 AM PST.

Previous Story: Trainers, the trade distance range will be increased to 40km for a limited time at the end of this month.

Niantic and Pokemon Go are celebrating the Holidays with a special in-game event that runs from December 16, 2021, until December 31, 2021. As part of the event, and as a special bonus, they will increase the trading distance to 40km.

Players will be able to trade further with the new 40 trade distance limit, for two days in December. The bonus will be active from December 25, 2021, at 10 AM, to December 26, at 8 PM local time.

They shouldve increased the trade distance for the entire month, but hey, 2 days is better than nothingI guess. Make sure to take advantage of this bonus and enjoy the Holidays.

How To Trade Locally Local Room

If there is someone nearby playing Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl on their own Nintendo Switch, you’ll be able to trade with them here. You can only use trading functions after you defeat gym leader Roark.

  • Head to a Pokémon Center.
  • Go up the stairs on the left.

  • Talk to the woman at the middle counter.
  • If you simply want to trade with random people online, select Yes. If you want to join a group with specific friends, select Yes, with a Link Code. If you want to join with the group you’ve previously created, select Yes, with my group.

  • You’ll now need to save your game. Select Yes.
  • If you’re trading with specific friends, enter a predetermined eight-digit Link Code that you’ve already shared among yourselves. Don’t do something simple like eight of the same number or 12345678 because many people are likely to do that.

  • Interact with a player or wait for another player to interact with you.
  • You’ll be asked you if you’d like to Trade. Select Yes.

  • You’ll now be taken to the trading screen. Select the Pokémon you want to trade and select Trade it.
  • You’ll see the Pokémon the other person wants to trade. If you like what you see, select Trade it again. If you both agree to the trade, a trading sequence will begin.
  • If you don’t want the Pokémon they’re offering, select Cancel. You can now select a different Pokémon to trade if you’d like until you find one you agree upon.

Breakdown Of Valuable Pokemon To Trade In Pokemon Go

With trading on our doorsteps, we must stop to ask ourselves, what are some valuable Pokémon that you should consider trading? There are the obvious ones, of course, but we are here to give you a definitive list of things that could be considered for trading.

Keep in mind that when you trade a Pokémon, its IVs will be re-rolled for better or for worse, but you cannot get that Pokémon back once it has been traded.

    Now, lets jump into this.

    Receiving Pokmon In Pokmon Home

If youre using the Pokémon Home mobile app, simply open it and you should see a notification that Pokémon have transferred from Pokémon Go. Select Yes to receive the Pokémon and youll see them in your box.

If youre using Pokémon Home on the Nintendo Switch, you have to click the Pokémon Go button in the bottom right of your screen upon entering the app. Follow the instructions to complete the transfer.

Your Pokémon will know the moves it would ordinarily know at its level in Generation 8 the moves it has in Pokémon Go are irrelevant. However, your IVs will roughly match those of your Pokémon. Defense and Special Defense are taken from your Stamina statistic in Pokémon Go, Attack and Special Attack from your original Attack stat, and HP will roughly match HP. Speed is not a statistic in Pokémon Go, therefore this is entirely randomised.

Your Pokémon will also get a nature and ability, as these do not exist in Pokémon Go either.

There is a few things to keep in mind when trading Pokemon in Pokemon GO:

    • Standard trades cost 100 Stardust. A standard trade involves Pokemon that are not shiny, not legendary and which you have already caught.
    • IVs, HP and CP change when trading, but moves, gender and size of the traded Pokemon stay the same. Be careful: Pokemon Level can also change!
    • A traded Pokemon level will be adjusted to the maximum power up level the recipient can perform. If you try to trade a higher level Pokemon to someone who cant normally power up to that level, the Pokemons level will go down. In other words, you cant boost someone by passing them a high level Pokemon they wouldnt have access to otherwise.
    • You can influence the re-rolled stats by increasing your Friendship level. According to this official blog post, the game assigns minimum stat values based on your Friendship level.
    • Trades reward additional Candy, depending on the distance between the locations where the two Pokemon were caught
    • 1 Candy => close distance
    • 3 Candy => 100 KM distance
  • Trading Pokemon affects your older medals:
  • Trading XL Magikarps counts towards the Fisherman Medal
  • Trading tiny Rattata counts towards the Youngster Medal
  • Trading any Pokemon counts towards the appropriate Type medal
  • A Pokemon can only be traded once. You cant chain-trade in order to get perfect IVs, as explained in the official blog post.

Pokmon Go Trade Evolution List And How Trade Evolutions Work

Before we get into the specifics of trading itself, let’s start with 2020’s big new feature – trade evolutions.

In the mainline Pokémon games, there’s a set of Pokémon that can only be evolved if they’re traded with another player. When Pokémon Go was released, these Pokémon were all evolved through candy, due to the lack of trading.

Now, however, trade evolution has been incorporated into Pokémon Go, offering a different evolution method for a specific group of Pokémon. These Pokémon are:

    • Kadabra
    • Phantump
    • Pumpkaboo

Once you’ve traded one of the above Pokémon, the candy cost for evolving them into their third and final evolution will be reduced to zero. This will allow you to quickly add this new Pokémon to your Pokédex, while also gaining a powerful new team member.

If you don’t have any fellow trainers to trade with, however, you’ll still be able to evolve these Pokémon with the candy.

It costs 100 candy to evolve Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter from Gen 1.

It costs 200 candy to evolve Boldore, Gurrdurr, Karrablast and Shelmet from Gen 5.

It’s also important to note that Pokémon that evolve using a combination of items and candy in Pokémon Go don’t receive the trade evolution discount. Even though, in the mainline games, a requirement of their evolution is being traded with another player.

How To Actually Transfer Pokmon From Pokmon Go To Pokmon Home

Once youve linked your Nintendo account, you can head back into Settings at any time to access the Pokémon Home transfer system. In the Pokémon Home tab, click Send Pokémon to begin.

Before we go any further, Im going to remind you that any Pokémon you transport to Pokémon Home cannot come back! This is a one-way ticket, so dont transfer anything that you might regret.

Youll now see a screen with the Pokémon Home transporter on it, and a full energy bar . Click continue to be taken to your familiar Pokémon screen. However, there are a few Pokémon that you cant transfer:

    • Spinda
    • Shadow Pokémon
    • Mega-Evolved Pokémon

Lucky and Purified Pokémon will lose their bonuses when transferred, and the following Pokémon will change forms:

    • Origin Forme Giratina will become Altered Forme Giratina
    • Sunshine Form Cherrim will become Overcast Form Cherrim
    • Sunny Form, Rainy Form, and Snowy Form Castform will become Castform in its usual form

Otherwise, select the Pokémon you want to transfer up to a maximum of 27 at once, or until you run out of energy and click next. Youll see how much Go Transporter Energy this transfer will cost and be reminded of the Pokémon you selected. Click transport to complete the transfer.

    Pokmon Go Shiny Pokmon

Shiny Pokémon are special versions of a Pokémon with a different coloration. Unlike the main series games, shinies in Pokémon GO are much more common – the standard rate is believed to be around 1 in 500 . Many Pokémon have an even higher shiny rate: some perma-boosted Pokémon are around a 1/60 chance most legendaries in raids are around 1/20 chance and on Community Days, where one Pokémon appears everywhere in the wild, the shiny rate is around 1/25.

However, in Pokémon GO not every Pokémon can be shiny. When the game first launched no shinies were available. Over time, more and more Pokémon have become shiny-eligible. In most cases only the base form may be shiny in the wild – for example a Ratatta found in the wild could be shiny, but its evolution Raticate cannot. Sometimes those higher evos can be shiny in special raid events , and since the introduction of Mega Evolutions any Pokémon whose Mega has been released can be shiny, like Blastoise or Beedrill.

Below we display every shiny Pokémon sprite that is in Pokémon GO. You can compare with the Pokémon’s non-shiny sprite by tapping or hovering your mouse over it. Pokémon marked with a star* next to the name have had their shiny released. In total there are 558 shiny Pokémon available in the game.

All Trade Values And Stardust Costs In Pokmon Go

    Pokemon Go Shiny Aipom

Whats the cost to trade a Pokémon in Pokémon Go?

    Image via Niantic

When youre looking to trade with another trainer in Pokémon Go, you have to consider not only what Pokémon you want from them but the level of your friendship with that player. For example, a player at Best Friends level with you will not cost as much Stardust to trade with you, compared to a new player you just met at the Good Friend level. In this guide, we will detail all trade values and Stardust costs for trading in Pokémon Go.

Your friendship level with that player and the type of Pokémon trade you want to make determines the value. A shiny or legendary Pokémon will cost you more Stardust than a regular Pokémon. It also matters if you have the Pokémon registered to your Pokédex. If it is a brand new Pokémon for you or the player, youre trading with, that cost skyrockets, and it becomes expensive pretty quick. You want to keep those factors in mind when discussing a trade with another player in Pokémon Go.

These are all of the trade values and Stardust costs for trading with another player in Pokémon Go.

    Friendship Level

Pokemon Go: Rules And Restrictions On Special Trades

In Pokemon GO, Special Trades constitute any trade between players involving Legendary Pokemon, shiny Pokemon, Pokemon purified from a shadow form, and Pokemon that have not yet been registered in a trainer’s Pokedex.

As previously stated, these trades can only be performed once per day, and they possess a higher cost in Stardust to complete. However, the higher the friendship level between two Pokemon GO trainers, the lower this increased Stardust price becomes.

Niantic has explained the reasoning behind this increased cost for special Pokemon and newer friends.

Suppose new players were able to traffic in Legendary or other rare Pokemon many times per day without a significant Stardust cost. In that case, a black market could be formed that would allow players to obtain incredibly powerful Pokemon early on at little to no cost, throwing off the balance of Pokemon GO significantly.

Niantic stated as much in a blog post in 2018:

“We think that gating these trades behind a high Stardust requirement works to prevent exploitation and the creation of a black market, which would devalue the hard work of Trainers who have managed to encounter and catch rare or powerful Pokémon.”

In addition to these limitations, there are certain trades that are banned outright in Pokemon GO, including:

    Friendship Stardust And Candy

All trades require Stardust, with massively reduced costs depending on your friendship level. An example in screenshots released by Niantic shows a 1,000,000 Stardust fee for a Special Trade, reduced to just 800 Stardust if the players are Best Friends. You only need to be friendship level one with a friend to initiate a trade, which will only take one day.

Good friends can be achieved after a day of friendship. If players want to trade for Pokemon they haven’t caught yet, they’ll need to be on the second level of friendship, great friends. This level can take up to seven days to acquire. The infographic below by GoHub further explains friendship level bonuses.

Players also receive candy bonuses depending on the original catch location of the Pokemon being traded. If the Pokemon were caught far apart, you’ll receive extra candy. The current upper limit on these bonuses is a 100KM distance between the Pokemon’s original locations. You get between 1 and 3 candy per trade.

The Definitive Guide To Trading In Pokemon Go

Trading has long been a staple of the Pokémon series. From obtaining Pokémon not native to ones version of a game to evolving certain Pokémon, trading emphasizes interactivity between trainers. This feature is also available within the mobile title Pokémon Go, allowing players to trade with one another using just their mobile device. But like with other features within the game, there are some restrictions regarding the feature that limit the types of players that you can trade with.

Trading does allow you to exchange your extra Pokémons with other players for Pokémon you need or simply want. Keep in mind that to trade a Pokémon in Pokémon go you need to be in level 10 or more than that and this is the same for your partner too .
