Trade Pokmon In Pokmon Go

Here’s what Niantic said about Pokémon swap in Pokemon GO:

If located next to other, and at a distance of no more than 100 meters, then you can exchange Pokémon with him in Pokémon GO. For this game character must be at least level 10… Completion of the exchange gives a bonus candy for Pokémon that have been traded, and this bonus can increase if they are caught at a great distance from each other. All trades are based on Stardust, and some require more stardust than others. As the level of friendship of trainers increases, the cost of the trade will decrease.

Some Pokémon, including legendary, Shiny, or Pokémon that are currently not in the player’s Pokédex, a special deal is required. Special Trades can only be held once a day with a Great Friend or Best Friend, and require much more Stardust.

How to trade Pokémon in Pokémon GO:

  • Reach level 10 or higher.
  • Make friends with the player of level 10 or higher you want to trade with using their trainer code.
  • Meet with him for an exchange. For trade to become available, you need to be within 100 meters of each other.
  • On the buddy’s info card, click the Trade button and have your buddy confirm the trade on his friend list.
  • Select the Pokémon you want to trade and have your friend choose the Pokémon they want to trade.
  • Check the trade one last time.

Do You Mean Legendary Pokmon Can You Trade Legendary Pokmon

You can, actually! But legendary trades require extra restrictions, because theyre designated as special trades. There are actually a handful of Pokémon that are classified as special trade-exclusives:

    • Pokémon not already in your Pokédex, including special forms of Pokémon
    • Legendary Pokémon

To trade any of these, youll need to be at least Great Friends with your partner. These trades also require way more stardust than average ones. That cost will go down if youre better friends with the person youre trading with, however.

How To Trade In Pokemon Go Despite Trade Restrictions

How to trade Pokémon in Pokémon Go

There is only one major restriction when it comes to Trading, but it is very important to know.

Every Pokemon can only be traded one time.

This is because Pokemon roll for a new CP every time they are traded, and Niantic do not want players gaming the system for strong Pokemon.

If you trade a Pokemon to a friend, they will not be able to trade it back to you, or to anyone else.

    How To Trade Your Pokmon

You can add any other Pokémon Go trainer from anywhere in the world to your Friends list, provided you have their code. While you can send them gifts from wherever you are, to actually trade with them, you have to be physically close together the same goes for when you raid or battle a gym together.

Step 1: In order to initiate a trade when youre physically near a friend , open the Friend tab and select the person you want to trade with.

Step 2: Hit the Trade button in the bottom-right corner, then wait for the other person to connect.

Step 3: Pull up your Pokémon and pick what you want to trade, and Pokémon Go will tell you what itll cost you.

Youll also see a CP range of the Pokémon will change when the trade goes through. The range is affected by your trainer level and the level of whomever youre trading with so if theyre a higher level than you, their super-strong Pokémon will probably get their CP lowered as well as your Friendship level with that person.

    Step 4: Select Trade.

Step 5: When you finish the trade, your new Pokémon gets a new, random CP level from within the range.

Youll also get something for trading other than a new Pokémon: candies. How many candies you receive from a trade is determined by where the Pokémon being traded were caught. The farther away you are from wherever the Pokémon was nabbed, up to 100 kilometers , the more candies the trade will dish out.

Add Trainers To Your Friends List

Interacting with other players in Pokémon Go often requires you to add them to your friends list, and this is no different when it comes to trading. Depending on the level of friendship that you have with the player you are trading with, you may receive extra bonuses, such as the opportunity to have the traded Pokémon become Lucky, which will allow it to grow much faster. Adding friends requires access to your Trainer Code, which can be found by accessing the Friends section of the character menu, then tapping Add Friend.

Unfortunately for players, Pokémon Go only allows friends within 100 meters to trade with one another, though this distance is occasionally lengthened during specific events.

There are a few other restrictions worth noting, such as the fact that only trainers above the level ten can trade, and Mythical Pokémon, apart from Meltan and Melmetal, cannot be used with the feature altogether. The one-time trade limit for each Pokémon is the most notable, though, and it’s important for every player to be aware of it before they commit to trading away some of their favorite Pokémon. While this may be disappointing to some, these restrictions likely exist to help keep the game balanced and fair, along with encouraging individual exploration and training among Pokémon GO players. How Do Trade Evolutions Work In Pokemon Go

Fans of the original series may recall that some Pokemon can only be evolved via trading them to someone else. Pokemon GO has a similar mechanic, but not exactly the same one.

If you trade a Pokemon that can evolve via trading, their evolution cost will be dropped down to zero Candies for the receiving Player. Just remember, there are no trade-backs in Pokemon GO.

If you do not wish to trade your Pokemon, then you can evolve them like any other Pokemon. However, the cost will be 100 or 200 Candies, depending on which Generation the Pokemon is from.

    Earning Candy Through Trades

Each time you trade a Pokemon, you earn at least one of that Pokemon’s candy.

When you catch a Pokemon, the game records where in the world you were and attaches that location to the Pokemon. If two Pokemon being traded were caught far away from one another, you will earn more Candies.

At level 31, you also have the chance of earning one Candy XL from a trade. The number of Candies XL you receive will not change based on distance, but your odds of getting it will.

Some special events may alter the number of Candy or Candy XL that you receive.

There is a few things to keep in mind when trading Pokemon in Pokemon GO:

    • Standard trades cost 100 Stardust. A standard trade involves Pokemon that are not shiny, not legendary and which you have already caught.
    • IVs, HP and CP change when trading, but moves, gender and size of the traded Pokemon stay the same. Be careful: Pokemon Level can also change!
    • A traded Pokemon level will be adjusted to the maximum power up level the recipient can perform. If you try to trade a higher level Pokemon to someone who cant normally power up to that level, the Pokemons level will go down. In other words, you cant boost someone by passing them a high level Pokemon they wouldnt have access to otherwise.
    • You can influence the re-rolled stats by increasing your Friendship level. According to this official blog post, the game assigns minimum stat values based on your Friendship level.
    • Trades reward additional Candy, depending on the distance between the locations where the two Pokemon were caught
    • 1 Candy => close distance
    • 3 Candy => 100 KM distance
  • Trading Pokemon affects your older medals:
  • Trading XL Magikarps counts towards the Fisherman Medal
  • Trading tiny Rattata counts towards the Youngster Medal
  • Trading any Pokemon counts towards the appropriate Type medal
  • A Pokemon can only be traded once. You cant chain-trade in order to get perfect IVs, as explained in the official blog post.

You Can Only Make One Special Trade Per Day

Hey, all trades are special in their own way, right? Heh. What we mean is that Pokemon GO limits you to one trade involving Pokemon not already in your Pokedex, Legendary Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon or other types of Pokemon you havent already caught on your own, like the event-specific characters youll sometimes come across.

One other thing to note is that you cant trade mythical Pokemon at all, which only means Mew at the time of this article, nor can you trade Pokemon that have already been traded to you. It might have something to do with this last important trading tidbit

How To Trade In Pokmon Go And Trading Requirements

Before you can start trading, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

    • Be Pokémon Go Friends with the person you are trading with
    • Have a Trainer Level of 10 or above
    • Be within close physical proximity

From there, go to your Friends feed, and select the Friend you want to Trade with. The option to Trade will be next to ‘Send Gift’, below the XP bar.

Provided you are within 100m, you can then select a Pokémon to trade, check the Pokémon you’ll receive and the Stardust cost before confirming. Then, you trade, with the process taking just a few seconds.

The following also needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to trading:

    • Trades will give each player additional Candy, with more Candy rewarded if the two Pokémon were caught far away from another. According to Reddit, this is 1 Candy for below 30km, 2 Candy for 30-100km, 3 Candy for above 100km.
    • The HP and CP of each Pokémon will vary once the Trade is completed – it could be higher or lower. The better the Friendship Level, the less variation will be. You’ll be able to see this before the trade, and there will be safeguards in place to stop powerful Pokémon going to players with a much lower Trainer level.
