It can end up being worth up to $6,700, which is no smaller value in the slightest. With that being stated, it is a card that many collectors are desperately looking to add to their collections.

Opinions may differ but the most expensive Pokemon card in the world as of June 2021 in our opinion is the 1999 Base First Edition Chaziard Holo #4 Logan Paul Pokemon Card with a BGS 10 Pristine grade.
Please note although this card may be worth more than a million dollars, the most expensive SOLD to date is the Pikachu Illustrator Extremely sold for $900,000 in February 2022.
The card was purchase by Paul in December of 2020 and was recently worn in his fight with Floyd Money Mayweather. He claims the card is worth 1 million dollars and we think he is actually pretty close.

This secret rare card from Pokémons set evolving skies is a rare one. This card is the Japanese version of the game Pokémon TCG. This card has its material made from paper and it is 4+ in age level, it is also a hologram card. The character Umbreon V was featured in this non-sports trading card. It was professionally graded by the professional grader PSA before it was sold on eBay for $76.00 and was in a very good condition.

Pokemon Japanese Champion’s League
Sold in April, 2021 for $30,000
Beginning in 2000, Champion’s League and Battle Roads tournaments offered contestants throughout Japan the opportunity to battle it out amongst the best of the best.
In 2000 and 2001, there were two Champion’s League tournaments, one in the Spring and another in the Summer.
From 2002 to 2006, however, there was a reduction to just one Champion’s League tournament per year.
And before the 2005 tournament held in Tokyo, no trainers received any kind of promotional card.
However, the top four ranking players in each age division of the 2005 tournament received this promotional stadium card, making it the first Champion’s League promo stadium card.

Unlike some of the other first edition Pokemon cards distributed in different regions and languages in 1999, the Korean version did not debut until a year later in 2000.

Pokemon World Championships Number 2 Trainer

From Friday, August 18 to Sunday, August 20, 2006, the best of the best battled at the World Championships held at the Hilton Anaheim hotel in Anaheim, California.
Contestants across three divisions competed feverishly to be one of the top 32 players from each division to advance to the finals on Sunday to crown a champion.
Those who finished in second place received this number 2 trainer card which features a fantastic image of Pikachu holding a silver cup trophy.
The official 2006 Pokemon World Championships logo rests in the bottom-right corner, adding a nice touch to an already impressive-looking card.

Tropical Mega Battle Tropical Wind Trainer Card
Sold in October, 2020 for $65,100
Just a bit ago, we saw how expensive the number two trainer card from the 1999 Pokemon Tropical Mega Battle could be even without a numerical PSA grade assigned to it.
And now we get a look at how expensive the trainer card given to all players who participated at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in 1999 can be if it’s graded to be in PSA 10 Gem Mint condition.
This card, featuring Psyduck and Jigglypuff laying sleepily in a hammock in a tropical setting, has become a hobby icon and one of the most sought-after trainer cards.
The “TRAINER” text across the top denotes the card type while the text below reads:
“Flip a coin. If heads, remove 2 damage counters from each active Pokemon . If tails, each active Pokemon is now asleep.”

While its 1st Edition Shadowless Pokemon card from 1999 has always brought in good money, the popular item has seen a massive jump in value recently. In a PWCC auction held in November 2020, the rare Base Set Blastoise sold for $45,100.
Pokemon Japanese Summer Battle Road Mew Victory Orb Trainer Card

The Battle Road Summer 2005 tournament spanned across nine different Japanese cities between July 10 and August 14, 2005.
As a prize, the top three competitors from each age division of the regional tournaments received one of these Victory Orb cards that feature Mew and the artwork of Takumi Akabane.
Previous Victory Orb cards from the Battle Road Summer tournaments in 2003 and 2004 did not feature Mew so many hobbyists believe this one to be an aesthetic upgrade.
The Japanese text below the artwork translates to:
“Victory Orb can only be used by official tournament winners. Look at the top 7 cards of your deck, then return them to the top of your deck in any order.”

Many of the most expensive Pokémon cards are tournament prizes that were produced in very limited numbers and arent actually playable in the game. Well get to them later, but lets first take a look at the rarest and most expensive Pokémon cards that you have a chance of actually owning already.

Pikachu Illustrator // $250000
One of the earliest cards to come out of the franchise was this promotional card of Pikachu that was given out to winners of an illustration contest in 1998. An estimated 20 to 39 copies were issued. In late 2016, Heritage Auctions sold one for a whopping $54,970. In July 2020, a card graded by Professional Sports Authenticator as a 9 out of 10 fetched $250,000.

Skyridge Holographic Crystal Charizard
Besides having arguably the best artwork of any Charizard card, 2003s Skyridge Holo Crystal Charizard is notable for being a part of the last set produced by Wizards of the Coast when interest in the game started to wane. Due to the lessened interest in the game at the time, fewer sets were produced, making this card even rarer.
As of writing, there are just 211 mint condition copies of this card graded by PSA. The value of this card has skyrocketed with the recent surge in interest around the hobby .
To date, the highest sale of this card was for $28,100 in November 2020.

Japanese Pokmon Promo Card: Illustrator Pikachu: Psa 7

Limited edition promotional cards, such as this illustrator Pokémon card, can command huge fees.
According to PWCC, approximately only 40 of these cards were created, to be distributed during competitions held in Japan where contestants were asked to create their own Pokémon cards.
Winners received custom printed cards featuring their original artwork as well as this rare Illustrator Pikachu card as a trophy.

Psa 10 Base Set Holo Shadowless Charizard: $420000
There are a lot of factors that make this card worth so much compared to any other Charizard card. Specifically, the lack of a shadow means it isn’t just a first edition, it’s the first print run of the first edition. While most base set cards have a shadow on the right side of the art frame, the very first cards Wizards of the Coast printed lacked it, giving them an extra level of value.
Second, though shadowless Base Set Charizards are fairly common and number in the thousands, a PSA 10-graded one are incredibly rare. Only 56 have ever been identified by PSA.

These Charizard cards have become one of the prime reasons for the Pokemon Card trend of the past two years, with YouTuber Logan Paul opening one as recently as February 2021 that was estimated by auction site owner Ken Goldin to sell for upwards of $500,000. In auction it tends to sell for significantly less, though: last year one sold for $264,000 through Heritage Auctions. In March 2022, Charizard broke its own record, and sold in a PWCC auction for a new high of $420,000.
Blastoise Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Holographic
Originally just a myth, this prototypes existence was finally confirmed in 2020.
At first glance, this card might appear to look like a counterfeit or an illegitimate reproduction of a Pokémon card. However, this card is special, as its not even an official card at all. Rather, its a presentation card created by Magic: The Gathering producer Wizards in 1998. Their aim? To convince Nintendo to let them handle the English release of the Pokémon TCG, which was released internationally one year later. Five cards were said to have been made, but only one has been sold at auctionfor $360,000 in January of 2021. This truly special test card is indeed one of a kindat least, to the worlds knowledge. Though evidence still emerges, its clear this legendary prototype is a staple of the TCG collecting world.

Psa 10 Neo Genesis First Edition Holo Lugia: $129000
Neo Genesis is effectively the Base Set of the second generation of Pokemon. It was the first time Pokemon from Silver, Gold, or Crystal appeared in the TCG, and it was also marred by a large number of misprints and mistakes in its very first run. Alongside it being the mascot of Pokemon Silver, that’s mainly why a mint condition, holo, first edition Lugia from Neo Genesis is so highly desirable. The PSA has only given a PSA10 grade to 43 of these.
Prices for this card are incredibly unstable, even between cards with the same condition. In November 2020 PWCC sold a copy for $129,000, while less than a year later in September 2021, Goldin sold one for “just”$47,970.
Pokmon Base Set 1st Edition Shadowless Holo Venusaur #15
Now were getting somewhere. The final evolution of the starter Pokémon Bulbasaur, Venusaur had a massive part to play in both the games and the anime as one of the mainstays in Ashs party.
It featured on-the-box art for the original Japanese version of the game, although the Green edition was never released worldwide.
With over 137 PSA 10 copies in existence, the original holo Venusaur is clearly a coveted card.
It may pale in comparison to the likes of Blastoise and Charizard, but its still a member of the original trio that players got to choose from.

Tropical Mega Battle Tropical Wind Japanese Promo Trainer Card
An ultra-rare Pokémon card created exclusively for participants of a 1999 tournament in Hawaii. A mint condition copy of 1999s Tropical Mega Battle, Tropical Wind Trainer Card sold for $65,100 in October 2020. Part of a set of only a dozen cards, its now estimated that the value of this collectible has gone up to nearly $150,000.
With simple artwork featuring Psyduck chilling with Jigglypuff on the beach, this card hints at the kind of holiday wed all take if we were lucky enough to sell one. Of course, if youre a passionate Pokémon card collector, owning this piece of history would be better than any vacation!
Pokmon World Championships Promo No 2 Trainer
One of the rarest Pokémon cards of all time, with only 3 known to exist

Like its equally rare and expensive Trainer trophy cards, the 2006 No. 2 Trainer is one of the rarest Pokémon cards of all time, with only a small handful of cards ever made.
Given as a trophy card to finalists of the Pokémon World Championships held in Anaheim, California during August 2006, in order to claim the card, players had to gain entry to the tournament by collecting enough points to qualify and then make it into the finals of their divisions.
Just three copies of the 2006 No. 2 Trainer are believed to exist, easily making it one of the rarest Pokémon cards in existence. Its rarity also means it commands a high price, with a copy graded at Mint 9 condition by PSA selling for just over $110,000 in February 2021.
The card itself features fan-favourite Pokémon Pikachu holding aloft a silver trophy, finished with a holographic pattern. The card reads: If you won this card at the 2006 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships, you may return to battle the best in 2007.
No. 2 Trainers rarity and value put it close to the legendarily expensive No. 1 Trainer in terms of rare Pokémon cards – making it one of Pokémons most sought-after cards.

Dark Dragonite Holographic Card With Print Error $1000+
One of the rarest and valuable cards of the Pokémon generation two bunch. Dark Dragonite on its own is a rare and expensive card as is, usually costing from $100-$200 in mint condition. However, when you throw in a quick factory error the price skyrockets due to the rarity of the defective card.
That’s right. Due to a printing error on a small amount of the Dark Dragonite cards they go for $1000 and up. The printing error that hit these cards is the fact that they weren’t actually holographic as advertised.

Founded in 1950, Bandai is a Japanese toy maker that produced a series of Pokemon cards in September 1996 that pre-dated the official launch of the Pokemon Trading Card Game that followed in October 1996.
To distribute the cards, Bandai utilized a network of vending machines, or carddass, as they called them.
There are hundreds of Bandai carddass Pokemon cards to collect, but the most desirable of them all is the prism Charizard.
In one of the earliest appearances of the iconic character, Charizard roars and breathes fire, creating an image that really pops.

Team Instinct Leader Spark Is The Most Expensive Pokmon Go Tcg Trainer Card
The Niantic crossover also features the Pokémon GO Team Leaders Spark, Candela, and Blanche as Trainer cards. After setting up an account in Pokémon GO, players get to choose from one of three factions: Team Mystic, Team Instinct, and Team Valor. Trainers are then able to connect with other users on the same team and take over Gyms and collect points, thereby providing an element of cooperative play.

Since the game’s launch in 2016, there has been a rivalry between fans over which team from Pokémon GO is actually the best. In the Pokémon GO TCG expansion the debate has seemingly been settled, as Team Leader Spark has taken the top spot in sales. The Spark Trainer card has been climbing in value since the set’s launch in July and has been selling for around $20. In comparison, Candela has been going for $12, while Blanche has been averaging out around $9.
Following the launch of the Pokémon GO crossover in July, the next Pokémon card set to release is the Pokémon Sword and ShieldLost Origin TCG expansion. The September set will bring back the “Lost Zone” mechanic and will feature the debut of Legendaries Kyurem and Girataina as VSTAR cards. With Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also releasing in November, the Pokémon Trading Card Game will have many more collectibles set to release this year that could also end up being worth a lot of money.
