How To Ship Pokemon Booster Packs

Shipping a Pokemon Booster Pack is kind of similar to shipping Pokemon Cards.

What with booster pack tampering being a hot topic in the Pokemon Trading Card Game community at the moment, its wise to actively try and avoid any physical damage occurring to the booster pack to prevent suspicions being raised .

To safely and securely ship a Pokemon Booster Pack, place it on a semi-rigid protector, and then place enter it into a protective bag to hold the protector and the Pokemon Booster Pack in place.

The image below displays this method. In more detail, simply place the Pokemon Booster Pack against the rigid card protector and then place them both in the protective bag.

If you want to purchase the rigid card protector and protective bags I am using in the image above, follow the links below:

Leave The Door Open A Crack

Protecting cards against the monsters of the postal system is a good thing. But don’t be like the overprotective parent that makes their kids where knee pads on the jungle gym. Taping everything can actually be dangerous. If there’s no way to get into a parcel, the receiver risks cutting into the cards.

Boxes are generally okay. The cardboard might be a casualty, but they’re easily replaced. What’s worse is the card that’s completely entombed in plastic wrap. Doubly dangerous is a card that’s been entombed with strong packaging tape.

When you’re getting things ready to mail, leave an obvious road into the package. Be safe, but be reasonable as well. Who knows, you might even save a buck or two on supplies every year.

Organize Cards By Set

Pokemon has been around for over 20 years. In the United States, there are more than 70 sets from the 1990s until now.;

Its best to organize your cards by set and then numerical order. This organization lets potential buyers quickly inspect cards and can help you earn more money since the store doesnt spend time cataloging the cards.

You can find a complete setlist on sites like Pokellector. Creating a free account lets you build a checklist to quickly see which cards you have and the ones youre missing.

There are other apps and websites you can use as well. The best catalogs display the current sales price, letting you estimate how much money you can make by selling the full collection.;

How Do I Store My Collection

To preserve the value of your collection, proper storage is imperative. You can store your collection in a sleeved folder or in sleeves within a cardboard box, though the latter is typically the preferred method.

  • Sleeved Folders:;Sleeved folders protect your collection against damage and allow for optimal viewing of the cards. You should avoid storing your collection in extreme heat, as temperature changes within a sleeved folder can cause your collection to warp.
  • Individual Sleeves:;Those collecting for the value that the single cards hold should consider storing their collection in individual sleeves. It is also important to note that the clarity and quality of sleeves vary between manufacturers.

Practice Safe Shipping Use Some Protection

You would think that it’d be obvious that even the newest collector shipping cards for the first time would think to use some sort of protection on their cards. Yet, there have been a few times where I’ve received cards that are simply tossed in an envelope and left to the graces of the postal gods. And while these cards have made it to me, they often show signs of a long, tough journey.

Without something as basic as a penny sleeve and a top loader, you’re leaving yourself open to easy damage and unhappy buyers and trading partners.

How Should You Tape The Cards

Use Painters Tape, not scotch tape

A common practice when shipping trading cards is using a piece of tape over the top loader.

    Most resort to scotch tape.

While scotch tape does protect the card from slipping out.

It can ruin the top loader and the experience for the buyer.

See collectors dont enjoy having tape on the cards when storing them.

It doesnt look appealing & can cause many top loaders to stick together.

And when removing the tape, it leaves residue.

And can be a pain to remove.

Instead of scotch tape, use painters tape.

    Its easy to remove

And there is no residue left behind.

    Fold the Tape

To make removing the tape even easier for the buyer.

Fold the tape over so there is a small tab.

That way the buyer wont have to use a fingernail to remove the tape if it gets stuck.

    Dont over use Tape

Everyone understands the need of protecting a card.

But please, do not overdo the tape on the card.

A buyer shouldnt need to use another tool to take the tape off.

So please make it easy and add the tab.

The worst thing to do is have a collector ruin the card because of overprotection.

    Get The Packaging Materials

To go-to place for most of what you need would be Amazon, or if you dont want to wait, a local stationary store such as your local games/hobby store.

Here is in my opinion on what you need depending on the value of the cards youre shipping. Ive provided links to each of the items.

    Individual Card Value
Two pieces of firm cardboard A bubble mailer or box

For the firm cardboard, I tend to just find a box that Ive received something in lying around and cut or tear two pieces off to make do.

You may come across semi rigid card protectors, however, these are easier to bend. Its always best to play it safe and go for the less flexible option, especially if shipping Pokemon cards in a bubble mailer.

How To Properly Ship Trading Cards As The Seller

If this doesn’t belong and you happen to know a better place to ask this question, please let me know.

I’m trying to sale some trading cards on e-bay, namely pokemon cards, but am confused on the shipping. I was planning to use bubble 6×9 envelopes to mail them in, but when trying to list the item it won’t let me select envelope dimensions. I also have some video games that I was planning to ship in slightly larger bubble mailers.

What would be the best way to ship the trading cards? One of the problems is that some of them sell for so little that if I make any mistakes with shipping, I’ll be out money instead of making it. Are bubble mailer envelopes ineligible to buy postage through ebay, and are they a good idea to use in the first place? I’ve heard that the 6×9 bubble mailers can be mailed using special stamps for around $1.20-2.50? Is that anywhere near correct?

I’m not used to selling much on e-bay and I’m just trying to find the best and cheapest method to ship everything in. Again, the main thing I’m confused on is using bubble mailers and the 2 things I’m wanting to ship are trading cards & video games .

Even The Finest Scotch Is Bad When Shipping Cards

    Free shipping on Pokemon cards

One of the most common practices when it comes to shipping cards is placing a piece of tape across the top of a top loader. This is meant to stop the card from slipping out. In theory, this is smart, but there are a couple of things to consider.

Scotch tape is what I see the most. It’s what I used to use. However, it’s wasteful. When I receive a card for my personal collection, I don’t want to have it stored with a big piece of tape on the top loader. When I go to peel the tape off, there’s usually some goop left behind. Not only does it look bad, but it can lead to top loaders sticking together. Worse still is when I’m able to get some of the tape off easily, but not all of it. Now there’s a mix of goop, tape and stickiness.

I also get a lot of cards that have stronger packing tape across the top loader. This has the same issues as Scotch tape and more. Scotch taped top loaders is pretty easy to get into. Most of the time you just have to tear into it and it opens right up. Packing tape is different. I need a knife or scissors to open it. There’s a little added risk that the knife can slip and end up leaving a nasty nick in the top of the card.

Rather than using Scotch tape or packing tape, consider masking tape. It’s plenty strong but when it’s peeled off, it doesn’t leave a sticky residue. It’s also easier to peel off.

Ebay Stacks The Deck For Trading Card Sellers With Scan

Soon, creating an eBay listing for collectible card games will be as easy as scanning a cards image with a smartphone.

Beginning in late April 2021, eBay will launch an image listing tool in its mobile app to initially support Magic the Gathering cards, and expand to Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! in May. The tool is designed to enable sellers to create a listing for select trading cards in half the time.

To use the card scanning solution, sellers can open or download the eBay app and start their listing by typing a game name into the search bar . When prompted, the seller then selects “Tap to search with your camera, points their camera at the card, and holds to scan the card’s image. A list of possible matches will pop up, showing details that include game name, card title, card set, card number, rarity, card type, and power.

The seller then taps the correct match to pre-populate their listing with all of the card details, and can add photos, card condition, price and shipping to complete the listing. eBay will add functionality for sports trading cards and other collectible card games later in 2021.

The e-tail titan has recently been developing specialized offerings for buyers and sellers of different collectible product categories. These include authentication services for luxury watches and high-end sneakers, as well as for high-end sneakers.

Package The Protected Cards In A Box Or Padded Envelope

If youre shipping just the one Pokemon card, youre best off just using a normal padded envelope that contains some sort of padding.

For shipping multiple Pokemon cards, its recommended to find a box that will ensure that the Pokemon cards will not be able to move around. I usually just bundle up enough paper and include it in the box, so that the cards arent movable.

Writing FRAGILE on the outer packaging is also a smart move . The best advice I can give you, is to try and convince the courier and handlers that there is something easily breakable like dinner plates inside.

    From Magic To Dimaggio

A press release from eBay introduces a scanning tool that should cut the time it takes to list trading cards in half. You can find the feature in the eBay app for both iOS and Android.

The e-commerce giant says it will work with Magic the Gathering cards at launch and add support for Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in May. Functionality for sports and other trading cards will follow later in 2021.

Alternatives To Media Mail For Pokemon Cards

HOW I SHIP MY POKEMON CARDS ON EBAY IN 2017

Although, to the best of my knowledge, there isnt anything out there like Media Mail that will give you the same kind of rates for shipping large collections of Pokemon cards. However, there are cheaper alternatives than just going to your local post office.

Something I have been hearing a lot about late is a service called Pirate Ship.

Although the company name does not initially inspire confidence in me to ship my expensive cards with, I have heard nothing but positive things about the service that aims to provide you with discount shipping rates when compared to buying directly from your post office.

Although I strongly advise against you trying to sneak Pokemon cards through Media Mail, Ill never say no to saving money that you dont need to spend.

Below Ill link to a great video I found that explains and goes through the process of using the Pirate Ship service so you can decide for yourself if it might be worth your time to try it out.

How To Make Money Selling Pokemon Cards

Before we start, we must get a couple things out of the way. First off, the real money-makers right now are from the 1999 original Base Set. If you dont already have these cards tucked away from your childhood, getting your hands on these collectibles is next to impossible.

To put things into perspective, a booster box from that set can go for $34k all the way up to $375k . The truth is, these items are not only in extremely short supply, but investors worth millions have been snatching them up.

This guide will cover selling cards for new collectors, as well as those that may already have cards but arent sure what they are worth. Its important to keep expectations in check, and to understand that it takes a lot of work and research.

    Collecting The Pokemon Tcg

Even though there is a seemingly endless number of cards you can collect, you can learn the game and have hours of fun by picking up a few theme decks. Again if you are new to the Pokemon TCG and want to give it a try, we recommend grabbing a few of the newest theme decks, like these below.

Given the number of previously released cards, we also do not recommend trying to catch up by buying booster boxes from older sets. If there are older cards that catch your eye , you can buy individual cards from websites like TCGPlayer.com.

If you play the game and love it, the best way to expand your collection is by keeping up with future sets. Some players only buy a handful of packs when a new set releases and buy the rest of the cards they want as singles. Most, however, buy anywhere between one and three boosters boxes every time a new set is released.;How many boxes you buy really depends on your budget and the experience you want to have.

Buying one booster box;is enough to give you a variety of cards from a set. This will let you get a feel for the new cards and inform your decision to purchase more packs or buy specific singles. This is a great way to go, particularly if you only plan to play across the kitchen table or are really just looking to enjoy the game with friends and family.
