Must Have For Sports Cards Collectors And Investors

A NEW APP FOR THE POKÉMON TCG! (Pokémon TCG Card Dex) | Pokémon

Like many during the pandemic, I got back into collecting sports cards. I had a lot of cards from growing up, but also started buying cards across all sports, graded cards and investment pieces. Im more a collector than a seller, but wanted to track values to know when to sell and to fund new purchases. Cardbase has a great interface, has an amazing inventory of cards in their database and is always adding new cards. Theyll even add your cards for you! No brainer to get the app to follow my cards, just like I follow my stocks. Well done!

Lighten Your Load Throw Away Potions

If youre anything like us, you shoot from the hip and let Pokeballs fly where they may. And, if youre anything like us, eventually, youre going to run out of Pokeballs that way. And if you stroll by a Pokestop, chances are your bag will be full and you will be unable to collect more Pokeballs! Well, dont let that stop you. Just open your inventory and chuck some potions. Chances are you dont need 99 of every Potion type, so get rid of some and youll get your Pokeballs back in no timeso long as you stroll by more Pokestops, or wait around for them to refresh.

Psacardcom Has The Answer

Whether youre looking to find the value of a cardboard classic like the 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle or a modern release like a 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie card, the resources on PSAcard.com will give you accurate pricing information on your card of interest.

In todays trading card market, condition is a core component of value. Trading cards that are in mint condition tend to be worth more than cards with flaws like centering issues, dinged corners, and creases.

First things first, is the card raw or graded?

If your card is raw, compare it to PSAs Grading Standards as you sort through PSAs 1 10 grading scale. You will find detailed descriptions of each grade, as well as visual examples to illustrate the criteria for each grade.

Still have questions on condition? For further details, review our free Photograde library, which contains high resolution examples of popular cards, arranged grade-by-grade for comparative analysis.

These card condition guidelines will help you approximate each cards grade.

What If Im Looking To Buy Online And Cant Hold The Card In My Hand

As a rule of thumb, it is best practice to take a card out of a sleeve and examine it for yourself. As mentioned, a fake card will feel different to a genuine card. However, this isnt always an option, especially now during the pandemic and as Facebook groups have become a popular and convenient place to buy and sell.

There are a few tips in this case. First, ask for a photo of the card youre buying and examine it visually using all the aforementioned tips. Then, evaluate the credibility of the seller. If someone cant provide you with a unique photo of the card, thats a bad sign. Also look for previous reviews of the seller. For context, there arent any reported cases of mass Pokémon card fraud so you dont need to be overly anxious about buying a card. Just cover the basics and you will generally be fine.

Another great and reliable option if you buy online is to purchase the card from a registered business. Look up your closest card dealer and reviews of the store. A store will be more invested in customer satisfaction than a random person on the internet.

Number : Blastoise 1998 Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Star Hologram

Free Pokemon Maker Games

If you havent heard about this one-of-a-kind rarity, be prepared to be blown away.

Before Wizards of the Coast began publishing English Pokémon cards in 1999, they created test prints to determine what the final print of the TCG line would look like. Early Pokémon TCG test prints included examples of Blastoise, Charizard, and Growlithe. Some test prints were printed early enough to be missing the iconic Pokémon backing. Instead, some test prints feature a Magic: The Gathering backing or a blank back. There are currently five Blastoise test prints accounted for, but none of them are rarer or more expensive than this Galaxy Star hologram.

Wizards of the Coast printed test prints for two reasons first, to use as a reference when printing cards or making changes, and second, to send to retailers to give them an idea of what the upcoming Pokémon TCG would look like. In the case of this Blastoise test print, Wizards of the Coast commissioned the print to send directly to retailers for display purposes. Only two of these commissioned presentation cards exist, with only one graded and accounted for. Its rarity is unparalleled, and its value is astronomical as a result.

The only graded copy of the Blastoise 1998 Commissioned Presentation Galaxy Star Hologram sold in a 2021 Heritage Auctions sale for $360,000. If it ever comes back to auction, we know itll be worth a pretty penny then, too.

Where To Sell Pokmon Cards For A Profit

With some Pokémon cards being valued so highly, youll naturally want to know where the best place is for you to sell them at a profit.

Reflecting on how much can be made from the collectibles nowadays, Friedman says: Youre seeing a new type of collector coming into the market now, like millionaires, multi-millionaires and even billionaires. And they are not just collecting but looking at collectibles as a long-term investment. They want the rarest of the rare and, with more competition to purchase such items, they drive prices up.

If you want to capitalize on this, then one of the best places to sell cards is on eBay, where you can directly set the price. You can also sell them at Walmart, as well as at specialist card marketplaces like Troll and Toad, TCG Player, CCG Castle and Dave & Adams. If you want to appeal explicitly to collectors, then these sites are your best bet.

Meanwhile, Porras suggests that you might not want to put all of your eggs in the online trading basket. Speaking about this, he says: Auction houses, hobby dealers and online marketplaces are generally the most frequent methods used by collectors to buy and sell Pokémon cards.

On that note, you dont have to conduct the transaction over the internet and can always try local pawn shops, comic-book stores, or Craigslist.

Things To Consider Before Scanning A Pokstop

Niantic has clearly mentioned a few things that you may need to know before you go ahead and scan PokéStops.

  • Scan those objects around which you can walk around without any obstruction. These include sculptures and states that you can access from any angle.
  • While keeping the object at the center of the frame, move around it and scan it for at least 20-30 seconds
  • When scanning the object, keep your camera steady and move at one consistent speed
  • Scan objects at PokéStops for at least 180 degrees but if possible, cover the entire 360 degrees
  • Scans can be performed at various weather conditions or at different times of the day

How Pokmon Card Condition Affects Value

    OC card

Like with most collectibles, particularly trading cards, condition seriously impacts how much the rarest Pokémon cards are worth. Mint Pokémon cards have no significant flaws and look like they were just pulled from packs. Near Mint cards may have small nicks or chips around the corners and edges or slight surface scratches. Other card conditions include Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavy Played, and Damaged. The most damaged cards may have tears or surface creases which dramatically reduce Pokémon card value. If you have discovered a rare card in near-mint or mint condition, it may be worth sending it to a major grading company like PSA which will evaluate its condition on a scale from 1-10. Although expensive, grading can preserve the condition of cards and many of the record-breaking sales are ultra-rare Pokémon cards in high grades.

Find The Set Number Of The Pokemon Card

Look at the bottom right or bottom left corner of the card for a number, typically in the format ###/###.

In this case, the set number is RC21/RC25. Note that the set number does not normally contain letters, but it can sometimes. As long as theres a / symbol, or a number on its own, then thats the set symbol.

    Not Great For Collectors

Ive been collecting Pokémon cards since 2017. I downloaded this app because I thought it was going to have everything. When I downloaded it at the time, it was just Sun & Moon. But theyve added support for X& Y and of course Sword & Shield. I used Pokéllector to track my cards before and now I still have to keep it on standby because this app only includes everything X& Y and above and nothing else. They do have the promos but they never seem to update them. Theres also some gaps in the Sun & Moon promo lists. So its incomplete. Not to mention bugs and glitches are very common. Stuff like removing your tracking info, and recently, the app thinks that the Sword & Shield promos are no apart of Detective Pikachu and you must scan them to unlock them. If you do though, you get an exclusive art piece, which is just a white box with the detective pikachu logo on it. So if your a collector, especially one thats been collecting for a long time. Just get Pokéllector and stay away from this app.

Pokmon World Championships No 1 Trainer

Every copy of this rare and valuable promo card is one-of-a-kind

Sold for $31,200 in April 2021

The first of two rare and valuable Pokémon cards called No. 1 Trainer on this list, this particular card was awarded to winners of the regional Battle Road Spring tournaments held in Japan during early 2002.

The regional tournaments were held as qualifiers for the Pokémon World Championships, with the small number of No. 1 Trainer cards produced for the few winners making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards in existence.

Adding to the cards rarity is the fact that each No. 1 Trainer card was customised with the name of the tournament winner printed onto the card, making each card one-of-a-kind. According to auction house Heritage Auctions, the personalised aspect of the cards also mean that they rarely appear at auction, making them an even rarer sight in the world of Pokémon cards.

The 2002 No. 1 Trainer card was illustrated by Ken Sugimori, best known as being one of the original artists and designers for Pokémons first generation of 151 Pokémon. The text on it reads: The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament Battle Road Spring 2002 champion is recognised here, and his honour is praised. Sugimoris No. 1 Trainer artwork featuring fan-favourite Pokémon such as Pikachu, Chansey and Marrill is exclusive to the card, making it especially unique.
