The New Decks Make This No Fun

Opening Pokemon Cards, But It’s a Mountain of Evolutions!

I really enjoy playing the Pokémon TCG. Its a game with a lot of thoughtful strategy and is balanced in such a way that for the most part, smart play can help you come back from being behind and can also even out new players with veterans so that there isnt a horrible barrier to entry. The app is also totally free to play and offers a lot of variation so that you can endlessly play. But I started getting really irritated with this game within the last 6 months or so. They released two new decks, the Mach Strike and Imperial Command decks. These decks are so overpowered compared to all the decks released. Its very easy to do essentially one-hit kill damage within three, if not two turns. Occasionally you can come back to win if you get really lucky and if you quite literally play your cards right. But good luck getting to that point, because half of the people I play with use this deck to just grind. They quit out immediately if things start going south, and it drives me up the wall. I love playing a game that goes for a solid 10 minutes and provides a good challenge between two equally matched players, and this has become so few and far between because everyone just uses the same two decks because theyre the best, and no one actually wants a challenge. I wish Pokémon would change these decks or get rid of them entirely, because theyve ruined the fun and balance of the game.

Pokemon TCG Live features several different currencies that players can use on additional booster packs, player items, deck sleeves and more cosmetic items.

These currencies cant be purchased, and instead are earned via in-game quests, by logging in daily, and by winning in-game tournaments.

Cards from the Black & White era of the card game up until 2022s Silver Tempest are included in the game, however, only cards from the Sun & Moon expansion forward can be used at the time of writing.

Players can migrate their collection from the Pokemon TCG Online app, though some are reporting issues with the importer tool during the beta phase.

Sorting Your Opened Pokemon Cards

Sorting the cards will be the next most important part of opening a pack.

Putting each and every card where they belong is the first step to having good organization. This will help you to make a profit off the cards, if you so desire, as well as help you keep them safe and undamaged.

Open your packs one at a time. If you choose to do the above method of surprising yourself with the best card last, the organization system will be slightly different. Youll want to see if there are any Holographic cards in your pack. If any, youll put them off to the side so you can store them with like cards. Youll sort the cards based on Energy, Items, Trainers, and the Pokémon themselves.

Theres another level to sorting your cards, and that is sorting your Items, Trainers, and Energy by the different types. You can store them in binders, and the cards you want to add to your playing deck can also be put in a binder with protective card sleeves on them.

When you store them in the binders, place them near similar cards and things to maintain that organization we talked about in the beginning. This will help you to have an organized collection and keep your cards in mint condition.

If you want a full guide on how to store and organize the Pokemon cards that you are opening from your packs, you can check out my complete guide here.

Silver Tempest A New Beginning

Silver Tempest released on , and its Secret Rare Alt Arts and Full Art Trainer Gallery cards make it well worth collecting. There are 30 new Trainer Gallery cards, three new Radiant cards , and some incredible Alternate Artwork.

The chase cards are already mounting as Regidrago V and Unown V have captured the attention of avid collectors. These packs can be pre-ordered via hobby shops and will start appearing in the wild in stores like Target, Walmart, Gamestop, Walgreens, and Dollar General in the US.

As a rule of thumb, its safe to assume that new sets going forward are worth picking up. Unless the Scarlet & Violet base sets turn out to be as underwhelming as Sword & Shields, we will have to wait and see how those sets shape up in 2023.

You can purchase Silver Tempest packs here .

Pokemon Card Pack Trick

Yveltal

There is a way to up the hype and anticipation for the rare and good card that comes with a booster pack once youve gotten through the packaging.

Some preliminary shuffling of the new cards will ensure that your Energy card is the first one youll see and that your rare card is at the back.

The code card color will indicate whether or not your card is good or bad. Blue means it will be a holo or better, and green means it is going to be a regular or better.

In order to make sure your best card is the one youll see last, after youve carefully opened the packaging and removed the cards, take away the code card. You wont need that for the rest of the opening.

Move the three cards from the back to the front and the last card on the back should be your energy card. You can turn your deck over to reveal the face and should have the good and special card at the very back now.

Youll then be able to go through your cards, looking at the common and uncommon. Sort them accordingly so that you have some good organization and will be able to differentiate what you would like in your playing deck and what will go in your storage and collection.

For those of you that want to see how this is done, check out this short video that will walk you through an example of doing the Pokemon card pack trick.

Pokemon Tcg Live Has Launched In Open Beta On Pc And Mobile

The card-collecting game replaces 2010s TCG Online app

Jordan Middler

Pokemon TCG Live has launched in open beta on PC and mobile.

The game, which was announced last year, will replace the old Pokemon TCG online app, which originally launched in 2010.

Players accumulate cards in the game by entering codes found in physical packs of Pokemon cards. There is currently no way to buy packs of cards within the game using microtransactions.

Players can redeem up to 400 code cards per set. A pack of Pokemon cards is typically $4.99 / £3.99.

I Opened 600 Packs In Pokemon Tcg Live And I Still Can’t Build A Decent Deck

Pokemon TCG Live has abandoned trading in favor of a crafting system, which has dramatically diminished the value of opening packs.

Ive been hoarding code cards from Pokemon TCG packs for more than a year. Ever since Fusion Strike replaced the old Online cards with the new TCG Live version that claimed you could Play Today last November, Ive held onto them until the day that would finally be true.

As much as I loved hustling in the old PTCGO trading market, I knew my stack of codes would be better served putting TCG Lives new crafting system to the test. That day has finally come, and Im afraid I have some bad news.

Heres the gist of it: 600 codes were entered, 6000 cards were unpacked, and once all my extras were converted into credits – TCG Lives crafting resource – I accumulated a total of 5,435. To put that number into perspective, each basic V card costs 750 credits to craft, while VMAX and VSTARs cost 1,025. A full playset of a single evolutionary line, meaning four V and four VMAX/VSTAR that you could put into a deck, costs 7,100. After 600 packs – or $2,400 worth of real packs – Im still 1,665 credits short of one VSTAR playset, which wouldnt even complete a top-tier deck on its own. Not by a long shot.

Unbroken Bonds Pokemon Booster Box With Most Powerful Cards

Are you when deciding which Pokemon booster box to buy, and you just want powerful cards? If so, you should get Unbroken Bonds, it probably the box with the most powerful cards that was released in the last couple of years. Thats why its pretty sought after, which is reflected in its higher price.

There are a bunch of strong GX Pokemon, both single versions and Tag Teams. Dedenne GX is probably the strongest of the bunch. When you play it, you get to discard your hand and draw 6 new cards. Thats a lot, and you can also have some sweet synergies with discarding.

Even if the name suggests otherwise, some cards in Broken Bonds are, in fact, pretty broken.

Lost Origin The Second

The second-newest booster box is called Lost Origin. It was released on . If youd like to get a new Pokemon booster box, but you for some reason dont like Silver Tempest, you can certainly get Lost Origin instead. This set certainly has a lot of things going for it.

After a couple of sets that werent that exciting except for a few chase rares, Lost Origin felt like a breath of fresh air. It brought us a bunch of powerful cards, and a lot of them with amazing artworks. The fact that the set has Charizard, and it might not even be one of the top 3 cards in the set, says a lot.

Besides the secret rares, rainbow rares, and so on, the set also has 30 cards with special art, known as the Trainer Gallery subset. These are cards that are actually Pokemons, but they also have a trainer in the artwork.

The set just keeps on giving, and theres something for everyone. You got your powerful Pokemon from new generations, like Girantine V and Rotom V. However, there are also old iconic classics. Theres Pikachu, Charizard, and even a rarely seen Aerodactyl.

As you can see, Lost Origin is certainly one of the best Pokemon booster boxes to buy. It checks just about every box that a good Pokemon TCG product should. It has cards for everyone, and its relatively new! Whats not to love?

Collecting The Pokemon Tcg

Even though there is a seemingly endless number of cards you can collect, you can learn the game and have hours of fun by picking up a few theme decks. Again if you are new to the Pokemon TCG and want to give it a try, we recommend grabbing a few of the newest theme decks, like these below.

Given the number of previously released cards, we also do not recommend trying to catch up by buying booster boxes from older sets. If there are older cards that catch your eye , you can buy individual cards from websites like TCGPlayer.com.

If you play the game and love it, the best way to expand your collection is by keeping up with future sets. Some players only buy a handful of packs when a new set releases and buy the rest of the cards they want as singles. Most, however, buy anywhere between one and three boosters boxes every time a new set is released. How many boxes you buy really depends on your budget and the experience you want to have.

Buying one booster box is enough to give you a variety of cards from a set. This will let you get a feel for the new cards and inform your decision to purchase more packs or buy specific singles. This is a great way to go, particularly if you only plan to play across the kitchen table or are really just looking to enjoy the game with friends and family.

From here, you have a number of options to fill in your collection with specific cards you want.

Shining Fates Hidden Fates & More A Collectors Dream

One of the best feelings when opening Pokemon Cards is seeing a nice shiny holographic at the end of the stack, and with the Pokemon TCGs Fates expansions you can get that in every pack. Both of these sets are jam-packed with Shiny Pokemon and incredible trainer cards, and theres even a chance of opening a god pack where every card inside is a holo.

Not to mention every pack offers a guaranteed holo or better, making them worth the price of admission. However, these packs have grown to be quite expensive, as they are a few years old and rarely still found in stores. This means youll likely need to buy Pokemon Fates pack from a third party.

That being said, the latest high-class set, , releases this month and offers more high-value cards than ever before.

You can purchase these packs right now :

Pokemon Tcg Online Illustration Exhibition Is Open Temporarily

Pokemon Sun and Moon Card Opening!

An online exhibition of Pokemon TCG illustrations has opened on the internet. The Pokemon Company is working with Anique to hold the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online Illustration Exhibition temporarily between August and October 2022. The website is available in multiple languages, including English.

The exhibition website primarily consists of three areas. The Life area showcases illustrations of Pokemon in their natural habitats. The History section highlights the evolution of card layouts since the TCGs debut in 1996. And the Artist area lets viewers search images made by a specific illustrator. The site also has a special area that features specific content, such as a room containing commentary from the card illustrators and another one dedicated to the winners of the 2022 illustration contest.

Anyone can visit the online exhibition website, but those who want to get actual viewing access to the illustrations must register new accounts on the site. The organizer only allows users to publish the sites content on social media by using its official sharing feature. It strictly prohibits any other publication methods, such as manual screenshots.

The online exhibition is one of The Pokemon Companys projects to promote the card game series. In July 2022, the company opened a casting call for an unscripted Pokemon TCG show series in Los Angeles. It is also working on launching Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, a free-to-play game for PCs and mobile devices, in 2022.

Some Retailers No Longer Allow Or Limit Trading Card Sales

Popularity and success are all great aspects, especially for something you love and do not wish to see die out, but the problem is that something can become too popular. Unfortunately, that is the case for Pokemon cards that have become so popular that we now see restrictions placed on them.

Even major retailers in the United States outright ban the sale of these trading cards from in-person stores or limit it to certain days and times of the week. This is unprecedented and shows just how popular and dangerous the card community has become.

After all, the growth in the trading card industry led to increased crimes like stealing the cards at a store or fighting outside the store in the parking lot over someone who may have purchased the last pack or a whole bunch of them.

It is becoming a significant problem in the country, where it is understandable that some retailers would want to back out of selling these cards. Target, for instance, made many consumers angry when they announced that they were no longer selling trading cards in person.

Nowadays, you can walk into a Target store and see the card aisle almost empty and not because they are sold out of the packs, either. Instead, it is because the retailer has completely moved away from selling them in-stores anymore.

Where To Buy Pokmon Booster Boxes

Even Amazon sells Pokémon booster boxes, but you will, of course, be limited to the whichever sets are currently in circulation. Here are a few options for the latest expansions:

We hope this has been a handy resource for any Pokémon TCG fans. Itll hopefully make the job of finding the shiny Pokémon cards four thousand times easier than finding the shiny Pokémon in the games.
