Are Dollar Tree Pokemon Packs Worth It

Pro: Get Cards Spanning Different Eras Of The Game

Dollar Tree Pokemon 3 card packs #1, are they worth it?

Official Pokemon cards are released in sets. Also, the only official cards that are readily available at stores are the newest ones. When you buy a repackaged set, youre eligible to get cards that span almost the entire history of the franchise. The pack pictured above had cards that were released as recently as 2020 and as old as from 1999! If specific sets dont matter to you, this can be a cool way to get cards from all eras of the game.

Con: Not The Cheapest Option For Bulk Cards

If your goal is to buy in bulk, your local game store with a Pokemon section probably sells bulk boxes at a much cheaper cost-per-card rate. My dollar store sells 20 cards for $4, but my local board game store sells sets of 100 for $7.00. Its probably not as convenient as taking the 20-pack off the rack when its right in front of your face, but if youre willing to work a little bit for it, you can get many more cards for a little bit more money.

Where To Buy Pokmon Cards In The Us As Target Suspends Sales

Pokémon trading cards are getting increasingly hard to come by as such collectibles have seen a huge boom in popularity in the past year, with the rarest ones selling for thousands of dollars.

Card mania has already caused a ban on in-store sales at Target after a fight broke out. There have also been unfounded rumors of a sales suspension at Walmart and collectors are being driven to reselling sites, where they face high prices and the risk of scams.

According to a report by Insider, TCGplayer, one of the main Pokémon card resellers online, shipped more than 16.2 million single Pokémon cards to players and local hobby shops in 2020. It also said that the number of top collectible cards priced over $50 rose 466 percent.

The Pokémon craze may have been partly influenced by YouTuber Logan Paul, who spent $2 million on cards and later auctioned them off. It has also caused fans to do some crazy thingsa man in Tokyo was arrested after climbing down a rope hanging from a rooftop, smashing a store window and stealing about $9,000 worth of the cards.

So, where can Pokemon fans who don’t have $2 million to spend find their trading cards? Find out below.

Con: Most Cards From These Sets Arent The Best To Play With

If you have any desire of playing the game in competitive matches or tournaments, repackaged cards are a mess. Many of the cards that come from these sets wont be eligible in tournament play, as officially-sanctioned matches focus on the newest cards only. Even trying to do something like completing a two-stage evolution is a pain, because Charmander and Charmeleon are sold in the standard packs while a stage 2 card like Charizard would be sold in the premium packs. Assuming Charizard is even in there at all, considering its massive popularity among collectors.

Even when playing casually with friends, your dollar store decks will likely get destroyed by others who have better cards that come with official booster packs. Besides being generally weaker and lacking of EX/GX/V/VMAX cards, the game has evolved over the years to give newer cards higher HP and damage. Older cards are fun to experiment with or a cost-effective way of teaching a kid how to play with a variety of cards, but these wont be the best option if you have any inkling of actually playing the game.

Why Target Has Suspended Trading Card Sales

*SCAMMED* OPENING EVERY Pokemon Cards Booster Pack From ...

Target stopped selling the trading cards in store after a fight broke out among customers.

Four men aged between 23 and 35 physically assaulted a 35-year-old man in a Target parking lot in a dispute over the cards, resulting in the victim suffering minor injuries. The disagreement ended when the victim, who has a concealed carry weapons license, accessed his gun and the suspects fled, though no shots were fired.

In a statement, Target said that it would “temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA, and Pokémon trading cards within our stores,” but would still sell them online. A Target spokesperson said: “The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority.”

Con: Repackaged Packs Are Guaranteed To Have Worse Cards Than Official Boosters

The biggest drawback to repackaged cards is that youre never going to find the most sought-after cards from repackaged sets. Any packs that dont explicitly state that they have rares or holos in it simply wont. You arent going to find any hidden gems of any monetary value here either, as those got picked clean by someone along the repackaging chain long before it got to you.

Even when you buy the packs that advertise having holos and rare cards, youre still getting the least valuable versions of those. You will never get the ultra rare cards or secret rare cards that everyone clamors for from repackaged sets. For those chasing the most desirable cards, these are literally a waste of time.

Con: No Online Code For Pokemon Trading Card Game Online

The online version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game is a great way of playing the game digitally with friends or other Pokemon trainers from around the world. When you buy an official Pokemon TCG product, you will get a code that allows you to import your decks or earn booster packs in the digital game. Most of my time actually playing the game has been through the online version.

When you buy repackaged cards, you dont get those codes. If you have any ambitions of playing the game, get the codes so that your money goes towards being able to play IRL and online.

Collectible Prices Skyrocket To The Dismay Of Hobbyists

NEW YORK Americans have become obsessed with collectibles, bidding up prices for trading cards, video games and other mementos of their youth. The frenzy has brought small fortunes to some, but a deep frustration for those who still love to play games or trade cards as a hobby.

Among the items most sought after and even fought over are the relics of millennials childhoods. These include copies of trading cards such as Pokemons Charizard and Magic: The Gatherings Black Lotus as well as Nintendos Super Mario Bros. game cartridges. Some cards are selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars and an unopened Super Mario game recently sold for a record $2 million.

This is more than a case of opportunistic collectors looking to cash in on a burst of nostalgia triggered by the pandemic. Everyone seemingly is angling for a piece of the pie.

But while some collectors and investors see dollar signs, others complain about the breakdown of their tight-knit communities. Players looking to play in-person again after the pandemic are unable to find the game pieces they want if the pieces are available, prices have gone up astronomically.

Prices are going up, and access is going down, said Brian Lewis, who operates a YouTube channel under the name Tolarian Community College.

Pokmon Tcg At Dollar Tree Real Or Counterfeit

POKEMON DOLLAR TREE PACK WEIGHING! Is it worth it?

My sister and I went to the Dollar Tree store today to find something to drink on a sunny day. However, while we were in line at the cash register, I found something that won’t believe in my eyes: Pokémon Trading Card Game!

That’s the first two pack that I bought today and here’s the store’s receipt as proof. Please keep in mind it only said “Anime Card”. Well, Pokémon is from Japan and don’t worry, it doesn’t contain debit or credit card info.

I was very excited to get these at Dollar Tree. However, I thought to myself, “it seems too good to be true”. So, I ask the store employee if the Pokémon cards are real and he said “yes, they’re real”. And he was right, they’re real!

Please forgive me for tearing one Pokémon card and besides, I only tear it with least favorite Pokémon and that is Voltorb. And this is common card on above of this image. If you do understand why I tear it, this a way to see if they’re real or counterfeit. I’ve been study a lot on how to find a counterfeit Pokémon cards and turns out they’re 100% real.

Another one from a different Dollar Tree Store.

There are the common cards from XY and Roaring Skies .

And these are the uncommon card on the top and a rare Victini card the bottom.

And these are uncommon Trainer card.

Last one but not least, these are just the promotional card. Sorry, no codes there 🙁

Advices to find counterfeit cards:

·Bend your cards lightly if they’re sturdy. If not, they’re fake.

Where To Buy Pokmon Trading Cards

According to a post on the PokemonTCG subreddit by user drewuptown, major stores that are selling Pokémon trading cards include Walmart, Meijer, Fred Meyer, Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s and Scheels.

They have also been found in Best Buy, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Five Below, Party City, Burlington, and Big Lots, as well as in smaller stores like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Hot Topic, and Gamestop.

Additionally, the Reddit thread says that stores such as Barnes and Noble, Dollar General and Dollar Tree sell the cards.

While this isn’t an official list and inventory will vary, these stores may be a good place to start your search. Many online stores and reselling sites also claim to be selling the cards.

The Best Cards To Pull From Darkness Ablaze Pokmon Tcg Expansion

Crobat, Vikavolt, and Eternatus. Oh my!

The next Sword and Shield expansion for the Pokémon TCG, Darkness Ablaze is set to release on Aug. 14 with more than 185 cards being added to the format.

Players will have a chance to get powerful VMAX forms for Charizard, Grimmsnarl, Eternatus, and more in this new set.

With the addition of 14 Pokemon V cards, seven new VMAX cards, 17 Trainer cards, and other new cards that might be able to shake up the meta, you will want to know exactly what you are getting into with this set.

Right away, it looks like there are a few cards that are using newer Pokémon to fill old, powerful ability slots. So while they wont work exactly like their older counterparts there are a lot of useful things coming in Darkness Ablaze.

Here are just a few of the cards you will absolutely want to pull when you start opening packs on Aug. 14.

While this card is likely the only one on the list that will need a specific kind of deck to function at peak efficiency, the ability, Forest Camouflage, is too good to pass up.

This Decidueye card cant be damaged through a battle with your opponents Pokémon V or Pokémon GX cards. It can still be hurt by their other effects, and there is no mention of VMAX on the card, but it does give you some nice stall options that can shut out specific matchups.

    Are Repackaged Cards Worth It

It depends on what youre looking for. As a means of filling an immediate itch for Pokemon cards, sure. Despite what Im about to say next, I will likely still buy these types of packs if the mood strikes to fill in weird holes in my collection.

But for most, there are better ways to cover seemingly every use case.

    • If you want lots of cards and dont care about the quality, you can buy a bulk set from a local game store
    • If you want a shot at the most desirable cards, buy the official packs or singles from a local game store
    • If you have any interest in playing the game IRL or online, its better to buy official packs for cards designed for the current meta while also getting codes for use in the online version
    • If you have any interest in learning how to play the game, buying an official starter set like Battle Academy or Trainer Kits are a better investment

The odd pack here-and-there wont hurt. But building a massive collection through repackaged card packs is probably not the best way to go.

Pro: Cheaper Cost Per Card Than A Standard Booster Pack

The biggest benefit to these repackaged cards are that theyre cheaper on a cost-per-card basis. Most of their standard packs are cheaper while also featuring more cards. They oftentimes also sell premium packages with fewer cards that only consist of holos or rares. While the quality of either set is questionable , you do indeed get more cards or more rares at a lower price than a standard booster pack.
