It is not easy to counter Raichu raids but some of the most effective and strong counters include Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon like Gengar, Shadow Ball Mewtwo and Tyranitar. Alola Raichu is a raid exclusive Pokémon that comes along with Alolan Marowak. Its stats include 201 ATK, 172 DEF, and 120 STA which is not that intimidation stats from a raid boss. Raichu belongs to the Electric and Psychic-type of Pokemon and its weakness will be Dark, Ground, Ghost and Bug-type pokemon. I’ve got a perfect Pikachu that reaches 1496CP after envolving to Raichu.

Could be interesting, good electric moves and only 1 weakness, but great league is full of whiscash and flygon, so ground moves are fairly prevalent. You could try it out and let us know how it fares.

Absolutely yes, I’ve loved it so far. It is slightly lower TDO than Raikou but has access to a wonderful coverage move in Brick Break. Ideal movesets is legacy thundershock though Spark will get the job done. Good counter to Azumarill and Charizard and a generally good low weakness shield waster. Also take a look at Luxio which has great coverage in crunch but a bit lower TDO than Raichu and more cost.

Raichu has got to be the best solely Electric type for Great League competition simply because of Brick Break.

Jolteon can get Last Resort, and Manectric learns Flame Burst, but both leave them vulnerable to the common Rock/Ground combination .

Grass/Poison, Grass/Psychic, or Ground/Flying is really all you have to worry about with Raichu for a guaranteed ineffective hit. If Grass really takes off, I guess Manectric would be a better choice as far as Electric types go, but with currently zero hats, Manectric is at a huge disadvantage compared to Raichu.

Each Pokemon has a pool of Fast Moves and a pool of Charged Moves. Some moves might be better in one battle, and other moves might be better in another. For Trainer Battles, you’ll want know which moves will be the best ones to have in the most matchups. You might also want to know which Pokemon are the best candidates for a second Charged Move. The move details within each Pokemon ranking can help you determine that.

Moves are ranked using calculations primarily based on their damage and energy cost. Stat changes are also factored in. These calculations are run for each matchup, and then totaled across the format. Matchup weighting affects these numbers as well, so moves that would be used against significant meta targets will rank higher.

When looking at potential moves, keep an eye out for Pokemon that have a strong tendency toward a single Fast Move and a single Charged Move. These Pokemon will have their optimal moveset in the most matchups. On the other hand, some Pokemon see more balanced usage in their Charged Moves. This is where having a second Charged Move comes into play.

As an exercise, select any one Pokemon in the Team Builder tool and compare its battle histograms when it has one Charged Move and when it has two. If a second Charged Move improves its matchups, it might be one worth investing in.
