Can You Catch A Shiny Ditto In Pokmon Go September 1 2021

The Kanto Tour event in Pokémon Go gave a significant spotlight to the first 150 Pokémon introduced to the series, celebrating the first batch of games in the franchise. The event was a way to celebrate Pokémons 25th anniversary, giving players a chance to capture all of these Pokémon and releasing all of the shiny versions of these Pokémon. That includes Ditto, but Ditto was a special case for the event where it was only available for the Special Research reward. So how does catching a shiny Ditto work now?

Previously, after the Kanto Tour event, a shiny Ditto was unavailable for you to capture in the wild. Even if a shiny Pokémon turned out to be a Ditto, that Ditto would not be shiny. It would be the standard version. After September 2021, things are going to be working a little differently.

There is now a chance for players to capture a shiny Ditto out in the wild. Players have a high chance of capturing a shiny Ditto when disguised as a standard Pokémon that you catch in the wild. However, a shiny Pokémon that can transform into Ditto will not transform into one. Only standard versions will become Ditto. Similar to the other common Pokémon in the mobile game, theres a one in 450 chance of a Pokémon being shiny.

The chances are low, and the odds are stacked against everyone, but capturing more Pokémon and hunting for the specific Pokémon Ditto can become is important. Dittos transformations rotate out pretty often, too.

Ditto Shiny Via Research Breakthrough

The last way to catch a shiny ditto is by earning a research trailer in September 2021. To do this, trainers must complete a field research task and claim the subsequent reward for seven consecutive days. Once youve done this, youll get a guaranteed encounter with a ditto, and Niantic has confirmed that it could be Shiny.

How To Find A Shiny Ditto In Pokemon Go

Before players can even think of finding a Shiny Ditto, they will need to try and find a normal Ditto first. In Pokemon Go, Ditto will only appear if the player captures one of these Pokemon.

Once it is captured, it has the chance of transforming into a Ditto. Although , finding a Shiny version of Ditto might be one of the most challenging Pokemon to find in the game. Theres no way to access this Special Research anymore if you didnt already purchase a ticket for the Kanto event, but if you do have access to the Special Research, you can find all of the tasks and rewards below.

How To Get Shiny Ditto

Shiny Ditto serves as the main reward for finishing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research quest. We break down all the tasks and rewards here so check that out if you need help with the individual steps. In short, all you need to do to get shiny Ditto in Pokémon GO is to complete that quest, which does require you to have purchased a Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event ticket, either Red or Green, and activated the game during the event which takes place Saturday, February 20th, 2021 from 9am to 9pm.

Once youve done that youll have the quest until you complete it. The final reward is a shiny Ditto, giving you the fan favorite character. Of course, you may also be able to catch one in the wild, but the odds will be extremely slim. Theres no way to track or seek out Ditto. You simply have to capture common Pokémon and hope that they turn out to be a Ditto. If so, theres a very small chance it will be shiny, but this could take hundreds of encounters. Where To Find A Ditto In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl

First and foremost, you have to catch a Ditto in order to use one for breeding in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. For starters, you’ll need to have beaten the Elite Four and completed the Sinnoh Dex.

Obtain the National Pokedex and many more Pokemon will be available to capture, including Ditto. Now, with your PokeRadar you can head to Route 218 and use it for a chance at an encounter with a Ditto in the tall grass.

Another method takes trainers to the Grand Underground. After beating the Elite Four and becoming Champion, Ditto will be available in the Stargleam Cavern and Dazzling Cave biomes of the Grand Underground.

Why Do The Pokmon That Can Be Ditto In Pokmon Go Change

When Magikarp was the first Pokémon in Go to have a Shiny variant available, Ditto could no longer hide as Magikarp. Since then, anytime a Shiny variant of a potential Ditto species has been released, it was removed from the pool and more Pokémon were added to the pool to compensate. They’ve also always been really common Pokémon, so as to avoid disappointment over a Pokémon you really wanted turning into Ditto.

On February 20, 2021, the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event introduced Shiny variants for the remaining Gen I Pokémon, including Ditto. In order to catch a Shiny Ditto, however, Trainers had to complete the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research storyline available only to players who purchased a ticket for the event.

However, beginning in September 2021, the Season of Mischief will see Shiny Ditto in the wild. The new list of Pokémon Ditto can be hiding as includes some Pokémon with Shiny variants already unlocked. To avoid disappointing players, if a Pokémon on the list appears as Shiny, it won’t be a Ditto, but if it’s not Shiny, not only can it be Ditto, but that Ditto can also be Shiny.

Research Collection Challenge Pokmon List And Rewards

The Research Collection Challenge is part of Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto and is only available to players who purchased a ticket for this in-game event.

Completing this Collection Challenge is thankfully pretty simple – but completing the Kanto Special Research, you’ll get all these as rewards as part of the various steps along the way. Several also spawn in the wild, if that helps you track down particular creatures.

Remember, though the Kanto Special Research has no deadline once started, the Research Collection Challenge does – so if you want to finish it, then getting through the quest within that time is important..

The trick to spotting a Ditto is knowing which Pokemons it can transform. Since Ditto disguises itself as another Pokemon due to its Transform ability, you must take note of the Pokemons that Ditto can mimic.

If youre completing various research tasks, you may be tasked to catch Ditto. While you wont spot Ditto in the wild, knowing which Pokemons it can mimic will help you a lot.

The most frustrating part about catching Ditto is that youve probably encountered it before without really trying. However, when it becomes a requirement for Special Research Tasks, it suddenly becomes a rare-ish Pokemon.

To find out if youve caught a Ditto, youll also have to go to the actual catching screen. Ditto only reveals itself once successfully caught.

Instead of seeing the normal Gotcha, youll see an Oh? above your Pokeball, and Ditto will finally reveal its smiling face. At this point, youll get annoyed that Ditto is still smiling after all that youve been through but will also feel relieved that you already caught one.

How Shiny Ditto Works

Unfortunately catching shiny Ditto doesnt mean you have access to every shiny Pokémon in the game. While Ditto transforms into the Pokémon species they are facing off against, that also means they adopt the shiny status of the foe. So while you may use a shiny Ditto in a raid or gym battle it will transform into a non-shiny if thats the enemy its fighting against when deployed.

On your screen, it will appear as another Pokemon spawning in the wild and it will not reveal its true identity until you catch it. This is good though because Ditto can only be disguised as few Pokemon.

Super Shinies were introduced with Pokémon Sword and Shield and were far rarer than regular shiny Pokémon. Instead of sparkling stars, super shinies had diamonds or rectangles that appear.
