Thankfully, the game offers you three main ways in which you can gather up this precious resource. The first of which is the most difficult, that being to complete a Mega Raid. Mega Raids are a unique type of raid in which you battle a Mega-evolved Pokémon as the boss.
Step 1: Find a Mega Raid spawn at a gym.
Step 2: Alone, or with friends to make it easier, beat the Mega Pokémon at the end of the raid.
Step 3: The faster you and your team are able to beat the Mega Raid, the more Mega Energy you will earn.
Pokmon Go Charizard X
Unlike a regular Charizard, which is a Fire and Flying type, Charizard X is a Fire and Dragon type Pokémon. That’s right, the Pokémon that most resembles a dragon can now be an actual Dragon type. While that may be exciting to think about, it does come with some repercussions for you when trying to battle one. This change in types means Charizard X won’t have double weaknesses like a regular Charizard, but instead has regular weaknesses to Rock, Ground, and Dragon.

Charizard X will have no major surprises in terms of moves, but that doesn’t mean they don’t pack a major punch. Fire type moves like Fire Spin and Ember are common, as well as Blast Burn, but he might also still have a strong Air Slash or Wing Attack.
Mega Charizard X gains a major boost to its Fire type moves in sunny weather, but will also help any Ground types you have if you’re looking to capitalize on that type advantage. If the weather is partly cloudy or windy then taking in a Dragon will be your best bet, so long as you’re careful of any Air Slashes or Dragon Claws coming at you.

The most obvious benefit of mega evolving Pokémon is in battle, where they get boosted attacks and combat power .

Where Can You Use Mega Evolutions In Pokmon Go
While a Pokémon is in its temporary Mega Evolved form, you can use it in the following areas of the game:
- Battling in Raids

How Mega Evolutions Work
When you mega evolve a Pokémon, it becomes temporarily more powerful and gets a range of bonuses.
You can see which Pokémon can mega evolve by selecting them in your Pokémon storage.
If you see a Mega evolve button and Mega energy beside its candy indicator, you can mega evolve that Pokémon.
All Pokémon that can mega evolve are the final form of a Pokémon species. So while you can mega evolve Blastoise or Charizard, you cant do the same for Wartortle or Charmeleon.
For hardcore collectors, the main reason to get mega evolved Pokémon is that they appear permanently in your Mega Pokédex.
But, on the downside, your mega evolved Pokémon will only stay in its brawny new form for 8 hours. After that, it devolves into its original form.

Pokmon X Mega Evolutions
So, while Pokémon X and Y technically has every single Pokémon since the series inception, it only has a handful of Mega Evolutions. However, since the mechanic has now been introduced, its safe to assume subsequent installments in the franchise will build upon the new evolution mechanic. It would probably be best to evolve em all this time around, so you can fill out your Pokédex now and not have to worry about it in later installments.

This means youll need to complete five Mega Charizard X Mega Raids in order to Mega Evolve one Charizard for a four hour period. Its a lot of work for a short window of benefit.
There are also additional ways to earn Mega Energy, such as completing special research for Professor Willow. If youre looking to get Mega Charizard X, though, youll definitely need to spend some time in Pokémon Go, grinding Mega Raids.

There are a few different ways that Mega Charizard X and Y differ from one another, and it isnt just in the color of their skin. Mega Charizard X has black skin, with blue highlights, whereas Mega Charizard Y looks almost identical to their normal counterpart, but with a few more spikes added for good measure.
However, where they start to get to be a harder pick is when you compare their stats to one another. One is more defensively oriented, with lower attack power, while the other is a powerhouse that could be more vulnerable to big hits.

How To Mega Evolve Your Pokemon
You can Mega Evolve your Pokemon by using Mega Energy obtained from Mega Raid Battles and certain research tasks. You can also receive Mega Energy from walking with your Buddy Pokemon if youve already evolved a Pokemon from your Buddy Pokemons evolution line.
Certain Pokemon can be Mega Evolved, while some Pokemon cant. You can check if your Pokemon is eligible for Mega Evolution by going to your Pokemons summary page. There youll see a button just below Power Up that says Mega Evolve. While Power Up requires Pokemon Candies, Mega Evolving your eligible Pokemon requires Mega Energy, obtained by participating in challenging Mega Raid Battles and completing research tasks. Once you have enough Mega Energy, you can Mega Evolve your Pokemon and use them for Trainer Battles, Gym Battles, and Raids.
Mega Evolution is not permanent, and your Mega Evolved Pokemon will revert to its Evolved state after 8 hours. Mega Evolving a Pokemon specie that youve already Mega Evolved requires no additional Mega Energy for Mega Evolutions the second time around. You need to wait for the Mega Evolution fatigue cooldown to complete, and you can Mega Evolve your Pokemon again. You can shorten this period by using Mega Energy. Mega Energy requirements differ from each Pokemon, so be sure which Pokemon to Mega Evolve. You can only use and have one Mega Evolved Pokemon in a certain period.
